re: the havoc wreaked by the delhi development authority near the yamuna, this reminds me of the development projects at kolkata's erstwhile city limits, what they call new town these days. that used to be over a hundred square kilometres of farmland, that has now been converted into a satellite city, chock full of expensive residential complexes, offices, and malls. it's also been declared a “green city” which really stymies any search engine queries into the environmental cost, not to mention the massive displacement of people. i think the jyoti basu government began the project, but it was mamata banerjee's government that brought it to fruition and declared it an official part of the city back in 2016.
