So I have another "what if" prompt that is very out of left field. Jon gets brought back as his 14 year old self in the 8 year old body (same as Rhaegar) only he's not the only version of himself that the got Summerhalled. They managed to grab 19 year old war vet Jon who is transported into the actual conception child Rhea and Daemon would have had. Rhaegal and Ghost come with (he doesn't get an emotional support twin so he gets 2 service pets to compensate). He's the one who stops in and saves the twins and inadvertently helps sell Daemon's fiction that the twins are true born because he is literally an older version of Jon.

This ask predates Restoration AU, I think, which is funny because it's sort of a reverse Restoration AU? Two Jons but in Resonant era, and one of them the same age as Winterfell!Jon in Restoration, while the other is the nineteen-year-old vet version.

I don't think the math quite works out for 19-year-old Jon to be the consummation baby of Daemon and Rhea's marriage unless he's a few years younger in the Dance era, and Daemon wouldn't have abandoned a trueborn son (nor would early marriage Rhea have hidden him). Maybe it works if he's 14, aka born 3 years into Daemon's marriage with Rhea, when she was much more embittered against him, though again we have to handwave that Rhea was willing to hide an actual trueborn son when Jaehaerys himself was still alive!

The logistics of Rhaegal suddenly appearing in the world would certainly be...interesting. Vet!Jon would have to be pretty clever with his explanation there! I think about Generator Rex more often than I should, particularly where it went wrong, and honestly it's biggest problem was that the very premise is too dark and fucked up once you put an ounce of thought into it for a kid's show.

It's setting is a world where every living thing is a ticking kaiju time bomb. Like holy shit. Imagine just sitting down to dinner then before you take a bite your grandpa turns into a fucking amalgamation of limbs and flesh and half your house is fucking gone. They even admitted in the first episode that they gotta sometimes kill them, which hey I get they're a threat to others, but they were still people! They were still somebody to somebody! Imagine them taking down an EVO and it turns out it was a single mother of two with no other family. The fuck happens to the kids?! Do they just go into the system? Is there a system?! How the fuck is there a government?! How does anything or anyone function in the Generator Rex universe?! i would love to see the suicide rate because Jesus fuck dude I don't think I could live with the preemptive dread and guilt of knowing that I could turn into a monster at any moment without any warning and hurt or kill innocent people!

"So we got this premise for this children's show. Every living thing can turn into a monster at any moment with no warning and the only way to reverse it is this dude they found. He'll have to kick it's ass to sedate it but don't worry he'll fix them right up. The worst part is that I think this would definitely work as a cartoon aimed at adults. It would be an absolute hit as an Adult Swim show or some streaming service because you could work with those extremely dark themes to your favor! They could've leaned into the fucked up nature of the premise and it would be the most scarring and real shit I think anyone would ever see.

But they pitched it to the kid side of CN. They had to tone down the dark themes or just blatantly ignore them. They had to overlook all that potential and neuter themselves creatively in the process.

(not to imply that writing anything intended for children is creatively stunting, but it would be limiting considering advertising, potential angry parents, regulations in other countries, etc. If anything it being on a children's television network is the limiter, as compared to one aimed at adults.)

Now there's other logistical issues with the show as well as half a dozen shark jumps that change way the fuck too much, but to me the premise and intended audience dissonance was the first of a lot of nails in the show's coffin.

Assuming that Arya ends up back at Winterfell at some point—which does not necessarily have to be the case—how will she get there? Here I’m proposing two ideas, based on possible predicted “next steps” for Arya’s character.

1. The Jeyne/Arya Mirror Idea

In the TWOW Theon preview, we see Stannis send Justin Massey on a mission: first to Castle Black to deliver “Arya” to Lord Commander Jon Snow (ostensibly fulfilling his promise to retrieve Jon’s half-sister), then to Eastwatch to depart for Braavos. In Braavos, Justin is to collect the Iron Bank’s loan and use it to hire a reputable sellsword company to return to Westeros with.

We the readers know that Jon is dead, however, and the current situation at the Wall is hard to predict. Without Jon to return “Arya” to, it raises the question of what Justin Massey will do with the girl. The Northern Lords have a vested interest in Arya’s sustained safety, so Justin cannot endanger Jeyne. If Jon is no longer there to receive her, and if the Wall has become embroiled in Night’s Watch/Free Folk conflict, it may not appear safe to leave “Arya” at the Wall after all.

Of course, much of this speculation is solely in service of the sheer fun of this possibility: what if Justin Massey ends up bringing Jeyne Poole to Braavos? If that were the case, then we could get the delightful irony of Arya, with her identity hidden, hearing of “Arya” visiting the city. Even better, we could see Jeyne Poole-impersonating-Arya interact with Arya-impersonating-someone-else.

Another benefit here is that Justin Massey’s return trip to Eastwatch (with a sellsword company) might be one way that Arya catches a return trip back to Westeros—even in disguise, perhaps Arya returns to the North via Eastwatch, to mirror Jeyne’s theoretical trajectory out of the continent.

That arc might look like this, with a focus on how the two girl’s trajectories might be the inverse of one anothers’. Of course, much of this relies on layers of speculation; this is all being proposed for the direct purpose of being able to create a scenario where Jeyne’s journey as Arya is somehow the reverse of Arya’s future journeys as not-Arya.

2. The Arya-Sansa-Catelyn Journey

However, that’s hardly the most direct route from Braavos to Westeros, and it’s certainly possible (and even likely) that Arya’s journey might not be related to Jeyne’s at all, even if Jeyne has taken Arya’s identity for the moment.

Perhaps instead Arya’s journey from Braavos will tie more directly to the storylines of her sister and mother.

If Arya lands at Gulltown, she could potentially cross paths with Alayne Stone on her path through the Vale, which could be interesting. Through Alayne and the Corbrays, we are constantly being reminded of the importance of Gulltown as a port for Westeros, and Lord Corbray’s merchant marriage might have been introduced as a way to tie either Braavos or the Iron Bank to Gulltown specifically through trade or commerce.

Then, assuming Arya needs to return to Winterfell, she will be forced to travel through the Neck… where Lady Stoneheart is. I’m not personally a particular supporter of the idea that Arya will (or should) kill Lady Stoneheart, but in any instance it would be narratively interesting to Arya cross her path.

In fact, this trajectory makes an arc that is both logistically sound and provides a real narrative journey from Arya to Winterfell. On this path, Arya-who-is-not-Arya could cross paths with Sansa-who-is-not-Sansa and then Catelyn-who-is-not-Catelyn, all in one smooth arc home from Braavos, shown here:

Of course, neither of these things could happen. This is just a couple of possibilities, and how they would logistically work.

Amity is the absolute world to me, and it's funny cause she doesn't feel sorry at all for being an all-watching, consuming insect monster (I mean, maybe she's sorry for herself, but non-apologetic as a whole). like she has a beef with a friend of mine's vampire character - they run vampire speak easy's and try to move the population around and facilitate underground human-cattle esc blood networks and keep the vamps going to avoid getting noticed by the big dogs like Hellsing.

But Amity's the bitch that keeps getting them busted - and they call her a traitor - she has to live off of the living just like them, so why side with them. And she finds it funny, stupid, stupid vampires to imagine there's some fictional familial network connecting them. This isn't how life works, nor how the world works. SHE'D eat them all alive if not for the fact that their dead flesh is useless to her swarm. Her loyalty is only to hers and her own

Peace was never on the table for Lady Pestilence. She's a corrupter, a rotter, her voice infiltrating and infesting far before you notice how endemic she's become. How many of their men became HER men? Do they want to tally and count? Games like these feed into the Sadism inherent in the Jorōgumo. She's just a little wicked

(ALSO FUN HISTORIC CONTEXT, the word Pestilence started seeing use in Old English and is a borrowed word from Old French, and it essentially translates to 'The morally corrupting/rotting/general moral entropy' because Medieval Europeans viewed the plague as a moral failing (because, for much of human history, morality and disease and faith were allllll interconnected and viewed as one singular thing) )

As a tangent, though, how this impacts Amity and the dynamics she forms with her informants is interesting - especially around the artificial vampire issue. Cause, Amity, as wicked and scrupleless a minx as she is, even with her heart at its coldest, does hold fondness and respect for her informants, and while manipulative, she does want to honour her end of the agreement made with them in exchange for their information. It's not her desire to treat them as tools or disposable, though ultimately, her actions do cross this boundary frequently.

But the reason for this, honestly? Lies in the fact Amity KNOWS an unfortunate truth, a LOT of her informants from these underground clubs and rings aren't there by choice - they're not the rich kid lovers or the Luke and Jan sort.

They're more like Helena. They are people in positions without power who had choices made for them without their consent by people abusing power over them, and currently, they're just as much trapped as the people they have to feed off. And, while Amity leverages their desire to get out for information she can't always gather herself, she doesn't WANT to abandon them to their fate or let their service be returned with betrayal and murder. Think of what that would do for her reputation! (she says, while truthfully caring less about that fact than about the memory in the back of her mind of these people relying on her so rawly, presenting their wounds at her feet and asking 'help me,')

So, when it comes to the matter of 'dealing' with them, Amity leans more on the side of hope and dreams and personally champions ( read as. pushes) Integra and the Round Table to probe further into the chips and learn to reverse them - if only because she wants to see a lot of her informants be able to be unshackled from their ailment (or at least reduced to a human condition to face punishment). Which Integra bawks at the logistics of, but Amity compares it to victims trapped under rubble by a tsunami.

YES, their condition is worsening, and they're losing humanity. Yes, it would be labour intensive to free them to the point some could argue it's a waste of time because 'what if they're too far gone, they'll die eventually anyways, ' but she argues any efforts to save and salvage souls are worthwhile, if only to honour the hope Hellsing gave them.

This being said, Amity KNOWS the likelihood of being able to reverse, or at least disable, the artificial effects is next to nil. After all, how many can boast that they've raised the dead? But Amity's doesn't want to leave that book, or it's potential untracked. But either way, dead or alive, she won't lose sleep. She's served her role*.

(*Amity is entirely ethically on board with putting them down if there's no other choice, and she knows that it's just the hope- if they CAN do something and make them half-artificial-vamp-half-human like Mina, or just fully revert 'em, that's the dream but if not she doesn't think it hurts to try.)

I have a random thought about a Genshin AU featuring the Sumeru quest and our favorite blonde 4 star. Basically a what if no Traveler AU. Do not ask me the logistics of how this works because I literally had this thought thinking about another anime.

So it had happened like this.

Kaveh had taken a trip to the desert, as one does, to sift through the ruins of one of Deshret's recently discovered temples. He had planned to be away for a while, given that the trip was fully funded and paid for, and slowly reverse engineer whatever he discovered.

Except the process hadn't taken long, as a lot of what he'd found was similar to Mehrak's basic build. So naturally, he received a bonus (that he refused), and the trip was cut short.

He was glad of it, too, as that meant he could return in time for the Sabzeruz Festival. Sure, not a lot of people celebrated their Archon's birthday, but Kaveh did appreciate the fresh look Sumeru City took on when the few people who cared took to decorating it. Maybe this year, he could help.

And so, he'd packed his things and arrived just in time to see the famous dancer Nilou and someone named Dehya run around gathering a bunch of interest for the holiday under the direction of someone named Dunyarzad. Surprised but pleased at this development (and the prospect of delaying his return to Alhaitham's house), Kaveh asked Nilou if he could help in any way.

"Oh, you're Kaveh, aren't you?" Nilou exclaimed, an excited light entering her eyes. Kaveh couldn't help but be slightly distracted by their color, a sort of deep sea blue that promised hidden depths saturated with kindness. The color would look amazing as curtains backdropped against the sun. "The one behind the Palace of Alcazarzaray?" she added, something like wonder behind the tone now.

The mention of his palace - his pride and joy and burden - shoved him back into reality, and he didn't even bother trying to suppress his wince. "Haha, yep. That's me..." he acknowledged weakly. "But any way you want me to help? I'm not too familiar with the stories behind the festival, but I can build or help plan or even decorate."

Once again, Nilou's eyes lit up. "If you're willing, then, could you help me decorate the stage? I'm going to perform a dance, and I'll give you front row seats in addition to some payment."

"Oh! Sound great. No need to pay - "

"Nonsense. We already have so many volunteers, I'd feel guilty if I couldn't even compensate the Light of Kshahrewar for his services."

"Um - "

And apparently Nilou had thought that conversation done and dusted and dragged him to the stage.

But in any case, the conversation was important because decorating the stage and being as nitpicky as he was, Kaveh had immediately recognized something wrong the next day when the padisarahs were....well, a color he'd never before seen.

He blinked. "Nilou, not that I'm complaining...but where did you get fully purple padisarahs?" he asked her, then rushed to add, "They don't look bad! Far from it, actually! But if they're fully purple, I'd rather use the white backdrop instead of the dark green one."

She seemed surprised then, citing that she'd never asked for purple padisarahs, and that they were apparently extinct.

"Blessing from the Denro Archon, maybe?" Nilou suggested, then frowned at the flowers. "No...the Archon Dunyarzad's told us about wouldn't have kept that from Sumeru for so long. Hmm..."

Kaveh eyed the flowers. "Hmm, indeed."

They both stared at the flowers for a good while before Nilou suddenly laughed. "Oh! I think I must be dreaming, then!"

Kaveh eyed her at the completely unexpected and groundless theory. "Dreaming? Uh...not to rain on your parade, Nilou, but I'm sure I'm not a dream."

Apparently, Nilou found that funny. "That's what a dream Kaveh would say, don't you think?" she laughed, then gestured to the audience waiting for the show to start.

"Here, look."

And then, she guided Kaveh's line of sight to where it fell on Grand Sage Azar, his presence a rather dour fog among the happiness of the actual festival-goers. Kaveh honestly wondered why the Grand Sage was here when Azar was well within his rights to simply not attend.

Then, poof.

Gone.

If Kaveh hadn't been standing steadily, he would have tripped. As it was, he gaped at Nilou, who laughed at him and said, "See? A dream."

Well, that was disconcerting, and Kaveh had edged away from the scene, disturbed because A) Nilou was right... probably? At least, he didn't think the real Nilou had the ability to make people vanish at will. And B) Kaveh was pretty darn sure that he himself wasn't a dream - and he would like very much not to disappear like the Grand Sage had!

"Huh," a young voice startled him from behind as the stage fell out of his line of sight.

This time, Kaveh did trip over himself, sputtering, "What? Huh ? AH!" before finding his footing and twirling around.

A child with white hair and the most dendro-green eyes Kaveh had ever seen studied him, head slightly tilted. "You found the dreamer, after all, Kaveh."

He started at the child. "Uh, who...?"

She smiled. "That's not important. You'll understand when you and all of Sumeru wake up. In the meantime, I'd enjoy the dance if I were you."

"Huh?!"

But the child with the lovely forest eyes turned to walk away.

"Wait a minute! Don't just wander off like that!" he protested, catching up to the girl in two strides. "I mean, before the whole waking up nonsense. Where are your parents? They're going to be worried."

That, at least, gave the girl pause. The expression on her face when she turned to look up at him was carefully blank. Again, Kaveh was distracted by those eyes, vibrant green and...their depth. More than a child should have a right to, but this wasn't the time to think about color theory!

"My parents?" she repeated, something in between a statement and a question.

Kaveh nearly collapsed at the weight of those words, his heart squeezing painfully for the girl. "Oh...um. Do you not have parents?" he added quietly, kneeling down.

He tried to ignore how he could sense the child was probably laughing at him from behind that blank mask.

"No," the girl said honestly. "I can't say I have."

Kaveh shook his head. "Here, come with me, then. I...well, dream or not, at least let me take you to Cyno? Or - hey, Nilou said she was going to dance soon, dream or not. Why don't we watch that together?"

The silence that fell with the girl's non-response was....decidedly uncomfortable.

It wasn't very long, thankfully, and Kaveh couldn't even be mad that the girl had broken it with her giggling. "You know this is a dream and yet you're still unwilling to let a child wander on her own?"

Kaveh stared at her. "Uh, yes?? Listen, I have no idea what in Celestia is going on, but I'm pretty sure I'm real? So who knows who else is? Maybe this is my dream?" The stream of theories that crowded Kaveh's mind almost distracted him, and he was glad that the child had a very solid presence that pulled him back. He shook his head, disregarding that his hairstyle was probably ruined from that. "Oh, who cares. Real or not, I'm not just letting a kid wander off on her own."

The girl smiled, and there was a sense of peace to it that calmed even Kaveh's frayed nerves.

"Okay, then, Kaveh. Watching Nilou's dance would indeed be nice," she agreed.

Kaveh had felt a little stupefied at how easy that was, but he wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. So he'd simply blinked back the confusion and offered his own smile back, the expression becoming more sincere when he caught the sparkle of curiosity in the child's eyes.

"Okay, then! Let's go watch this dream dance!"

Needless to say, Kaveh was very confused upon waking up right as Nilou bowed to the audience (catching his eye with a grin), recalling the dream, and wondering just who in the world the girl had been.
