OH FATHER
Baba, mutuwa na da wuya?
Mun amince duniya da wuya.
Father, is it hard to die?
We acknowledge hassles of the world.
With life’s wards always roams a lie;
We all are reproductions of its mould.
Choking in the presence of its grip,
The inscrutable crux not familiarized.
Do we sit out the stages of its trip,
Like your peaceful love that wasn’t recognized?
From the weep the baby wails
To the whip’s lashes life hails,
These tastes we own and inherit.
Say oh father, is there better to merit?
Continue to rest in peace father.

Taoreed Lagbaja, on Tuesday visited Tudun Biri village in Kaduna State where a drone attack by troops of the Nigerian Army killed many civilians on Sunday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Lagbaja apologised to members of the community for the incident and donated N10 million for the upkeep of those receiving treatment. Lagbaja explained that the incident occurred while the troops were conducting armed reconnaissance along Riyawa and Rimawa villages where the movement of suspected bandits was observed. “Having trailed them for sometimes, the decision was taken to conducts a strike based on the observations of tactics usually employed by bandits. “Unfortunately, the report we got thereafter revealed that it was innocent civilians in Tudun Biri that the drone carried out the strike on,” the COAS added. He said this made him to make the urgent and essential visit to the village to commiserate with the community on the unfortunate incident. Lagbaja assured the villagers that a thorough investigation had commenced on the matter even before the directive to that effect by President Bola Tinubu. The COAS stressed that the Nigerian Army as a responsible public organisation, would support the families of those who died and the ones injured, as well as the entire community to alleviate their sufferings. Man dragged to court for marrying 5 wives contrary to Islamic teachings
Tumblr media
A businessman, Awaisu Jibril, appeared at a Shari’a Court sitting at Rigasa, Kaduna, for allegedly marrying five wives, contrary to Islamic teaching. The prosecutor, Insp. Sambo Maigari had told the court on Wednesday, April 12, that one Musa Abdullahi, a community leader, had reported the matter to the Rigasa Police Division. The defendant told the court that he only had four wives because he had divorced the fourth a month before marrying the fifth. He, however, stated that the fourth wife had not finished her waiting period (Iddah) as she was supposed to observe three menstrual cycles. The fifth wife Naja’atu Kabir told the court that she wasn’t aware he was still married to the fourth, stating that she was one month pregnant. The judge, Malam Anass Khalifa, said it was wrong to add another wife, knowing well that the fourth wife had not finished Iddah. He ruled that the fifth marriage was invalid as it was not permissible in Islam to have more than four wives. However, he added that the pregnancy of the fifth wife was legitimate. “After thorough investigation and testimony by witnesses, the court has realised that the fourth defendant is ignorant of the ruling of Islam regarding marriage and divorce. “Therefore, he will continue to take care of Naja’atu Kabir and the pregnancy until she gives birth; he will also take care of the child after birth because the child is his. “He shall inherit his father because he was not conceived out of wedlock but as a result of ignorance and lack of investigation from both parents,” he said. The judge also confirmed the one pronouncement of divorce of the fourth wife. He adjourned to April 19 for a ruling on the defendant. Read the full article

By • Olalekan Fagbade Kaduna Airstrikes: COAS pays condolence visit to bombed community, commiserate with District Head The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, on Tuesday paid a condolence visit to Tudun Biri community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where several persons died in Sunday’s airstrike by the Nigerian Army. Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations, in a statement, said the COAS on arrival, met with the Dangaladima Zazau, the District Head of Rigasa, Architect Aminu Idris, and other leaders and members of the community. The COAS expressed regrets over the unfortunate mishap, describing it as a very disheartening. According to the statement, the Army chief noted that, in the recent past, the general area of Tudun Biri and adjoining villages were infested with armed bandits, who terrorised the communities, until troops of the Nigerian Army started conducting operations to sanitize the area, to make it habitable. He pointed out that the troops were carrying out aeriel patrols when they observed a group of people and wrongly analyzed and misinterpreted their pattern of activities to be similar to that of the bandits, before the drone strike. The COAS stated that he was in Tudun Biri to personally witness the site of the mishap and to convey sincere regrets and unreserved apologies on behalf of the Nigerian Army to the District Head and people of the community, as well as the Government and entire people of Kaduna State. He disclosed that he has ordered a thorough inquiry into the incident to ascertain and identify areas of deficiency that led to the disaster, adding that the findings and overarching outcome of the investigation will guide the Nigerian Army in meticulously and professionally seeking and applying lasting solutions to identified lapses and deficiencies in both the human and Artificial Intelligence variables that will forestall future recurrence. Responding, the District Head of Rigasa, Architect Aminu Idris, said despite the enormity of the incident, the Nigerian Army showed integrity in accepting responsibility for the drone strike. He urged the leadership of the Army to intervene in bringing succour to hospitalized victims and the community for their losses. He maintained that the community is a mixed community of both Muslims and Christians and that the victims are of both faith, contrary to earlier insinuation that the community is solely Muslim. The COAS, according to the statement, also commiserated with the Chairman Jamaa’ atu Nasru Islam, Kaduna State Prof Shafiu Abdullahi and other clerics. He equally visited affected victims at the Barua Dikko Teaching Hospital Anguwan Rimi, Kaduna, where he prayed for the speedy recuperation of the hospitalized persons and made an immediate donation of several provisions for their upkeep.
