#Rita doesn't want to lose Morf

A Friendship that Transcends Time and Space

The more I write about my Sailor Moffun AU, the more I try to rework the original plot of Sailor Moon to make it fit into the story of the Kings and those they care about, especially for Rita and those they hold close.

Morfonia's character takes the spot of two SM characters, Naru Osaka (Usagi's bff) and Sailor Pluto.

I know it doesn't make sense at first, but it slowly began to as I continued trying to figure out everything. Especially when it comes to Pluto's story in the Black Moon Arc and her relationship to King Endymion.

Basically her existing as Rita's best friend and the Guardian of the Space-Time Gate is very similar to Setsuna's story, but very confusing and concerning for the main team upon learning about it while also putting more at stake when it came to her story. But it's handled in a way where she's always wanted to look after Rita when the young royal was actually the very first person that met her at the Gate even by accident and wanted to be her friend.

Of course, the events of that arc made Rita extremely protective of Morfonia to a point of never wanting to tell her what happened for her safety. As long as her powers weren't needed, they won't ever tell her that she has the power to help them in battle because she was someone Rita didn't want to lose.

How it plays into their friendship and how Himeno views it in relation to her relationship with Rita is a very blurry line, really. The two are basically inseparable and Himeno respects that since Morf was Rita's friend before they began fighting together and later date. Morf knows the two love each other and wouldn't get in the way with it, even pushing them together. But both girls do acknowledge each other as people dear to Rita and even become close friends while also keeping an eye on Rita.

I try not to have it lean into the unrequited love storyline like it did for Pluto and King Endymion because I feel like it would be an injustice to RitaMorf's relationship because regardless on how their relationship is read, both are still loyal to each other and will do anything for each other. Something Himeno respects and will help with regardless of risks. Even outright refusing to have Rita try to save Morfonia on their own.

How Rita and Morfonia view each other is special. They're more than friends, but wouldn't really call each other siblings. Like Yuzuki and Kasumi said, they're partners. Close ones at that and I wanna try to write them that way in the AU.
