Went to the old house in QC to fetch the manongs. One uncle whom we love dearly also celebrated his birthday and decided to bring him out. a cousin who is supposed to join us, backed out since he just had lunch at the house and will spend the rest of the day with his mom. no choice, we brought him home.
Tumblr media
not sure if i can call this dwelling a "turn of the century" house but it's old given its longevity, it has stood the test of time, thanks to the constant repairs and the care given by the family.
it was humid but we barely felt the heat as the trees and plants that encapsulate the place made it so comfortable that we lounged outside while waiting for the rest to fnishi their meals. Anton who has a predisposition to animals, gravitated to pet the house cat. I was told that the feline creature just appeared out of nowhere and resided here.
Tumblr media
we finally got the uncle to join us after tremendous convincing that the afternoon would be a good opportunity for a paseo (Spanish for pasyal) he gave up and joined us for the long drive.
Tumblr media
first stop was a cafe in Rizal, so hyped by social media influencers was contrary to what we were expecting. i will just abbreviate the rants I have towards its place but the service is poor and the food was...puede na. the only saving grace was the shrimp pasta which I liked and the view of the city since the resto is perched on a hill.
Tumblr media
after lunch we decided to buy kasoy and other pasalubong to bring home and what would be an Antipolo trip without visiting Mama Mary at her Shrine? at the back of the cathedral, there is an entrance that will lead you to a small chapel where once can come close to the image of Our Lady of Antipolo. Just the same, I prayed for a lot of things. i also remembered friends, even those here in Tumblr.
Tumblr media
done with the visit and kasoy bags secured, we decided to cap the night with coffee and cakes at Augusta and boy of boy, the place did not disappoint. conversation left in the previous resto was picked anew in this place. we also made plans as another cousin will celebrate his birthday this October and we being the supportive cousins are already drafting plans on where to celebrate his special day - in my family, it is usually us who treats the celebrant and not the other way around.
Tumblr media
we wanted to stay long so as to appreciate the view but it's almost 9pm and we have work the next day. besides, the incessant lightning warned us that rain is coming. after settling our bill, we decided to descent from Antipolo and go home.
i got to my unit past 10pm...
i did a little house cleaning and showered and just like any middle-aged guy, I made paantok by watching Lavender Fields in Netflix (yes, I do watch it)
Tumblr media
and the cherry on top to close the weekend? That moment, your puppy clings to you for some belly rubs.
again, it was a lovely Sunday.

𝐀𝐳𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐰! in the Philippines <33
𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: What it would be like if Azi and Crowley were to be in the Philippines. (just some cute little imagines)
𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬: No Warnings! Chaz is currently working on chapter 8! so for now, i wanted to do something other than the fic, considering that I'm Filipino, Chaz convinced me to do some cute little imagines if azi and crowley we're in the Philippines, Happy Readings!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- The two of them would stroll around divisoria, well, aziraphale liked it due to the many stalls open in every corner, crowley doesn't like it on the other hand, since it's mostly crowded and all, but he does end up buying a duck hair clip.
- I feel like the two would go to one of the national locations/shrines and would go like.. "do you remember when we met him?" "hm.. i suppose? was he the guy..." "yeah. yeah. definitely."
- Would stroll around rizal park for fun, just a cute little date around the park like normal. <33
- Aziraphale would always be glad to go to churches every sunday. just like any other Filipino, maybe light a candle every sermon, then Crowley would take him to a mall after. (SM I LOVE YOU)
- During the early part of the Spanish Philippines period, Crowley would have protested with himself one too many times to do a "Harana" to aziraphale yet end up chickening out.
- Aziraphale would have a personal composed poem by José de la Cruz "Husend Sisiw", Also a copy of Noli Me Tangere or El Filibusterismo in his bookshop, and other literary works, such as Florante at Laura or Ibong Adarna.
- Crowley would probably enjoy a night drive in BGC, maybe even persuade aziraphale to come with him. and the both of them would enjoy eating street foods (siomai, fishball, kikiam, etc.)
- During the time when the urban legend, the manananggal were popular, People may have mistaken crowley as the mananangal once, and he would feed into the rumors too. and aziraphale would joke to him about it.
- They would celebrate like Filipinos, decorating the bookshop at the start of september. then would have a cute little vacation in Baguio at Christmas. Crowley would drive aziraphale every "Simbang Gabi" yet due to Crowley being a demon, he would wait outside church in the Bentley, waiting for aziraphale to finish.

Intramuros, Manila A place to hangout with your friends or family, and it can also remove you stress and problems when you go here Intramus is located to Metro Manila, Historic Intramuros is home to sites from the Spanish era, such as Fort Santiago, which has a huge stone gate and a shrine honoring José Rizal, the national hero.
Tumblr media
Religious artwork and statues can be found in the San Agustin Church museum, while bronze carvings and stained glass windows can be found in the elaborate Manila Cathedral. Horse-drawn carriages (kalesa) travel the area's cobblestone streets, and Casa Manila museum is filled with art and furnishings from the Spanish colonial era. My Journey to this place is like having the feeling of being a time traveler lost in the echoes of the past as I strolled around the charming streets of Intramuros in Metro Manila. Every step on the cobblestone streets reverberated with the richness of Filipino heritage, and the weathered walls whispered stories of the legacy of Spanish colonization.

"The Friday of Sorrows is a solemn pious remembrance of the sorrowful Blessed Virgin Mary on the Friday before Palm Sunday held in the fifth week of Lent.
In certain Catholic countries, especially in Mexico, Guatemala, Italy, Peru, Brazil, Spain, Malta, and the Philippines, it is the beginning of the Holy Week celebrations and termed as Viernes de Dolores (Friday of Sorrows). It takes place exactly one week before Good Friday, and concentrates on the emotional pain that the Passion of Jesus Christ caused to his mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is venerated under the title Our Lady of Sorrows." -Wikipedia

It started on during the time of Mayor Angelito Gatlabayan in year 2002. After seeing the National Museum of the Philippines, we continue on to the Yuchengco Museum, which is situated in Makati 1200 Metro Manila's RCBC Plaza at the intersection of Senator Gil Puyat Avenue and Ayala Avenue. While on the bus, I began to draw several pieces of art from the last museum. As we approached our destination, I became extremely enthusiastic since it was yet another museum. Now that we have arrived at the Yuchengco Museum, I have my sketchbook and a pencil ready. As soon as we entered the museum, the personnel at YGC greeted us with open arms. One of their primary employees helped us and provided background information on the history of the Yuchengco Museum.
According to her, the museum was established to hold the art collection of its owner, Ambassador Alfonso T. Yuchengco, and the YGC exhibit features artifacts connected to the Yuchengco family's Chinese ancestry. As we looked about the museum, we saw a section with books and presents in the lobby. This section features a broad selection of items that represent artwork from the museum's collections and shows, as well as the greatest in Filipino and sino-Filipino art and culture. The museum has a variety of rooms, including an abstract art room, a room with Jose Rizal's collection, and a suspended garden.
Tumblr media
You might be wondering what kinds of collections are housed in the Jose Rizal Collection Room. Well, within it, we observed a variety of collections and artworks, most of which were created by Juan Luna, Carlos "Botong" Francisco, and Fernando C. Amorsolo. A lot of Jose Rizal collections, including his works, family tree, portraits of him, and even his best-selling books Noli me Tangere and El Filibustirismo, were also displayed to us. We also learned about his colorful past. The museum serves as an interchange, discussion, and educational space in addition to being a shrine dedicated to displaying art.
The artwork we saw in the suspended garden was made for the 20th exhibition of Pumapel: art in paper. The concept tension is produced by the idea of heavy rocks floating. The artwork has the appearance of a floating Japanese Zen garden.

In order to complete the senior high school curriculum and graduate. Students are required to complete the 80 hours required for each immersion. Me and my other classmates were assigned to the Talisay City College, which is located close to the Sta. Teresa of Avila Church. After learning more about the realities of what it means to be a member of the teaching profession, my expectations exceeded.
Week 1
On March 12,2024 my work immersion started on Tuesday. I'm working at the Talisay City College Ministry Office, where I'm supervised by Mrs. Rizal. Archival. At that point, there was a memory, and ma'am Archival gave us the pupils' presence at the Cansojong Archdiocesan Shrine of Jesus Nazareno.
Wednesday March 13,2024 we are responsible for monitoring the students' attendance, exactly like on the last day. If we are finished, we turn it in to Mrs. Rizal at Talisay City College.
Thursday March 14,2024 as with the previous days, we visit the Archdiocesan Shrine of Jesus Nazareno to observe. We also make sure that the students complete their attendance forms and turn them in to Mrs. Riza Archival.
Friday March 15,2024 not Unlike the previous days, we go to the school instead of the church because we assist Mrs. Riza Archival with school events such as the "Station of the Cross" and numerous others.
Monday March 18, 2024 we went to the school to assist Mrs. Riza Archival in checking the papers because there is no memory today, so we do not go to church.
WEEK 2
Tuesday March 19, 2024 we are checking the exam papers of the students who have finished taking their exams today.
Wednesday March 20, 2024 Mrs. Riza Archival assigned us to assist the staff with setting up the chairs and helping to decorate in preparation for today's Mass.
Thursday March 21, 2024 returning to routine while we carry out the task of reviewing the exam papers that the students completed.
Friday March 22, 2024 the school is hosting an event called "BLESSING of the newly built buildings," and Mayor Sam Gullas of our city is in attendance. Mrs. Riza asked us to assist with setting up the seats and beautifying the gym for the event.
Monday April 1, 2024 nothing significant happened; it was merely one of our batch mates' last days. We completed our daily tasks and then went to eat a lot because our supervisor had ordered a lot of food for Jonathan, who is finishing up.
Tuesday April 2, 2024 on the final day of my work immersion, I gave the batch that would be replacing me an orientation and instructed them on what to do and what not to do. We ate a ton of snacks and snapped a picture of me holding the items after our job immersion ended. Our supervisor served as my reminder.

EXPLORING THE RICH CULTURAL TAPESTRY OF ANTIPOLO
Antipolo is a city east of Manila in the Philippines. It's known as a Catholic pilgrimage site. In the Antipolo Cathedral, the shrine to Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage has a 17th-century statue of the Virgin Mary, and attracts thousands of visitors each year.
And now, we are going to explore and discuss the different various traditions here in Antipolo.
Tumblr media
VARIOUS TRADITIONS IN ANTIPOLO.
Tumblr media
SENAKULO
A re-enactment of the passion of christ which starts on the night of Palm Sunday (Palaspas) up to the night of Easter Sunday (Salubong). The Senakulo (Cenaculo) is conducted in the Plaza square on public theaters constructed for purposes, with the participation of village thespians with perpetual vows.
The town or church plaza, as well as the streets, serve as the venue of most Senakulo performances. In some instances, during the early 20th century, it has also been performed in sabungan (cockpits) in areas near Manila. As with other Holy Week traditions marked by community participation, the staging of the Senakulo is no different.
Senakulo actors would prepare the props and sew their own costumes in anticipation of the Holy Week while the stage is built in the plaza using scaffolding and wooden boards, which are painted to serve as the backdrop. While the stage is central to the performance of main scenes such as the crucifixion, many episodes of the Senakulo are performed while going around the town streets. After which, they circle back to the plaza where the stage is located. As the plaza is usually located in front of the church, the end of the Senakulo will serve as a transition for the viewers to attend the succeeding activities such as the Seven Last Words or the procession of the Santo Entierro (image of the dead Jesus Christ) around the town.
Tumblr media
ALAY LAKAD ; THE CITY'S TRADITION EVERY HOLY THURSDAY.
A deacon of the Diocese of Antipolo, said the city’s Alay Lakad every Holy Thursday is a pilgrimage tradition that is different from the one that starts from Quiapo Church in Manila.
The two pilgrimage activities differ not only in the dates when they happen, but also in their history, significance, and development through the years. According to the Antipolo Cathedral’s website, the pilgrimage season of the city is initiated by the annual “Visit of the Mother to the Son,” a motorcade “bearing the image of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage from Antipolo Cathedral to Quiapo Church where the Black Nazarene is enshrined” every April 30.
Part of the Holy Week celebrations, Alay Lakad is a mixture of two Filipino words “alay” which means 'offering', and “lakad” or “to walk.” Holy Week is the most solemn period in the Catholic Church's liturgical calendar when Christians commemorate the suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ over 2,000 years ago
They come in droves, a sea of humanity streaming along the streets like water from a gushing river, walking and plodding determinedly to reach a domed cathedral at the top of a hill in upland Antipolo, Rizal province. Years ago this crowd of long-distance trekkers reached a record five million.

TAYO NA SA ANTIPOLO FESTIVAL
Antipolo Festival "The Tayo Na Sa Antipolo" May time Festival is a highly celebrated event in the Philippines, gaining immense popularity thanks to Antipolo’s revered Marian image, known as Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage or Virgin of Antipolo. Held annually from the first Tuesday of May to the first Tuesday of July in the capital of Rizal province, this festival serves to showcase Antipolo as a significant pilgrimage destination in the country. Rooted in the timeless folk song “Tayo na sa Antipolo,” sung for generations, the festival aims to showcase the city’s local culture, attractions, and renowned products like suman, manga, and kasoy.
What sets this yearly celebration apart are its intriguing components. Spanning a month, it encompasses rituals like the Unang Prosisyon and Santacruzan, along with engaging activities such as a street dance competition and a historical tour. The program also features a walking pilgrimage, drawing thousands of pilgrims who actively participate in the religious festivities.
During the festival, Antipolo sees an influx of attendees, predominantly locals from Manila and nearby cities, making the journey to partake in the vibrant celebrations. Overall, the Tayo na sa Antipolo Maytime Festival stands out as a unique and captivating tribute to the city’s rich heritage and traditions.

So in our day of our freedom it's good to remember our heroes that fight for our rights and revisit the historical places where it all happened and what important place to visit in the day of our independence but in Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine where it is the place where our national flag first waved and announce our victory from the Spanish colonizers and the start of our new era as an independent people... It is also a celebration for the people who help win us the war and as a reminder of what our heroes fought just to get us here. so it is not surprising that at that day many Filipino come to the day of waving of our flag to be present and remembered what they have to endure just to get freedom so by traveling to Emilio Aguinaldo shrine think of what our ancestors have to endured in the Spanish colonizers and how they fought with bravery now the place is old and dusty but it's still standing well thanks to the efforts of the government to preserve it by visiting the place don't forget to give it respect and pay tribute to our heroes it also important to keep the place clean while exploring to unsure it's cleanliness and the safety of our environment thank you for listening and have a good independence day.

Kamusta mga kababayan! I’m here to showcase my trip to both the birthplace of Jose Rizal and the Pintô Art Museum. It was a fascinating journey that allowed me alongside my family to delve into the life and legacy of one of the country’s national heroes and getting to witness a space where contemporary Filipino art comes to life in the most enchanting way.
Birth Place of José Rizal
Tumblr media
Located in Calamba, Laguna, the birthplace of Jose Rizal is a historic site that reflects the rich cultural heritage and nationalist spirit of the Filipino people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The shrine showcases the various phases of Rizal's life, including his childhood, education, and nationalist activities.
Tumblr media
We explored the well-preserved ancestral house where Rizal was born and raised and it felt as though we were peering into his upbringing and early influences.
Tumblr media
We also saw numerous artifacts and personal belongings of Rizal which were on display, offering a glimpse into his life and the times in which he lived. It reminded me that although he is one of our country’s heroes, he too had to grow up just like all of us, from humble beginnings and sought greater opportunities not just for himself, but for his country.
Tumblr media
Me and my sister stood next to the statue of a young Jose Rizal with his pet. The statue faced towards his house and it was a very warm scene.
Tumblr media
Our last group photo of the glass pane of the hero’s face before we made our next trip the following day.
