i'm black and while i clearly can't speak for everyone, i wouldn't say choices is really far ahead of romancle club in how they handle race.

choices had the gassing of rafael, the police brutality story in mtfl, xanthe getting sold off as a slave, constantly reused the same black mc hair, early hartfeld mc when i started playing didn't even have a proper black mc - and personally these issues made me more unconfortable than what i've encountered in romance club so far. not to mention that a lot of the critic of rc can be said about choices too (family members being white by default, mcs looking like a recolored white girl, or the sidelining of poc)

clearly i'm not saying rc deserves no criticism - i just find it weird when people act like choices is a lot better when in my experience it really isn't

Well, I hope that the two companies take everything into account and improve. Because from what we can see - and it's very clear - the two have a lot of things to resolve.

What remains for us as the final consumer is to talk about what can be changed and charge them and if not, we decide whether to continue using it or not. They are the ones who lose out, I believe.

We just can't start an IF war. Each has its flaws, similarities, differences and advantages and of course it won't please everyone. I think saying that X is better/worse than Y is a waste of time and energy, this is just going to wear out the two fandoms. Comparisons are inevitable, but we can avoid conflicts, I guess.

And from what I could take away from these discussions is that each experience with the two apps is different and unique so... there's not much we can do about it.
