KOREA DAY 3: ARRIVAL IN SEOUL 🌧️
we had eggdrop for breakfast (kinda an early lunch too) at the airport while waiting for our flight. the scrambled egg was beautiful~
got kinda hungry after the flight so we bought some walnut-shaped cakes (hodu-gwaja) with red bean and custard fillings. they were so warm and tasty. oqo
also came across a store selling traditional korean rice cakes (tteok) at gongdeok station on our way to the hotel and i had to try some!! we got one that was like angkukueh with peanut filling and a pat-sirutteok (layered rice cake with red beans) that an elderly gentleman recommended. they were not bad. would've liked the angkukueh one more if the skin was thinner.
we were heading out to myeongdong to get me some new shoes bc mine were dying (very sad) when it suddenly started pOURING. so we hid in olive young for a bit until the rain subsisded before heading out again.
i got a pair of beige filas from abc mart!! would recommend shopping for sport shoes there bc the prices were very good. they even had doc martens for sale?? at half the price i bought them for in sg?? wuh
had kalguksu noodles and mandu for dinner at myeongdong kyoja!! the noodles were tasty and i ate the meats~
the only thing i could fit into my stomach afterwards was the famous custard cheese coin pancake aND it was so much better than the one i tried in sg??? the cheese pull was insane!! and there was so much filling!!
vERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE: there were hua cheng and xie lian digital posters at gongdeok station near the exit to our hotel aND?? for that alone i give our hotel (shilla stay mapo) a 69/10. ✨

Now that I finally revived after Shilla, let me write everything down.
SHINee was the height of the concert. They brought the atmosphere up and really connected with all the fans. They were happy to be here, but at the same time they were sad they weren't complete. Their song choices already tells us that much. It's not usual for them to sing so many non-titled songs in a mixed concert. So many Shawols cried, sobbed, and whined at the little things that kept on reminding us that Jinki was supposed there. They practiced for 5, that was clear. They messed up his lines, his voice still distinctively apparent in the backing tracks. It is hard to say who out of the 4 other members were most affected by this. They were all visibly upset. At one point during An Encore, when the lights were shone on the audience and I quickly held up the Onew banner - the one that said "We will be your light on anxious nights, Onew", decked together with my SHINee cap and Onew headband. My con partner said she saw Taemin's face drop, and I watched Minho's expression change too. I'd like to think they saw it. Another Shawol also told me that my banner - the one that said "Let us give back the strength and love we have always recieved from you. We will always be right by 5HINee's side", was also briefly on the big screen. We left the banners for the members in the SHINee giftbox before the concert too. I left 5 sets, for the 5 members. If Key's instagram post is any indication, I'd really like to think our hearts have really reached them, and that our words were properly conveyed.

SHINee fans called themselves Shawols. My friends (who knows about it) teased me that I’ve already become one. But I don’t want to be labeled as Shawol because I don’t think I deserve it.
At first it was only MinHo who I am interested in SHINee. I have been so hooked with Korean Dramas and that’s where I got to know MinHo. I started crushing on him, and this lead me to watching video clips about him in YT. Naturally, I also get to know his group and his brothers. I liked them, I liked how they are. Although, MinHo is my ultimate crush in SHINee, I also liked the calm and collected Onew, the sweet maknae Taemin, the weird (in a very adorable way) Key, and the emotional and intense JongHyun. I got attached to each and everyone with every clip I watched, every piece of article I read and every photo I saved in my phone.
I have no clue as to what their achievements are (up until now I only learned about some 12202017), or even how their songs sound. I only started listening to their songs when I chance upon a clip of their concert in SG for Shilla. Their first song I listened to was Don’t Let Me Go (which I just found out today that MinKey wrote it 12192017). Honestly, I haven’t heard all of their songs as of today.
I am deeply affected by JongHyun’s passing. It has been three days and I still cry whenever I read or watched something about him, about SHINee. It felt as if I lost a new found friend to the same sadness that I may be losing myself too.
——–
12212017 9am KST, was JongHyun’s funeral and he is finally being put to rest by his SHINee brothers and his family. I worry for his family, MinHo, Key, Onew, Taemin, and all of the Shawols, I pray for them to withstand all of these and I pray that one day, they can move on from this pain and loss.
Eventually, my twitter and facebook timelines will go back to normal. But, I know that I will still cry everytime I will see some tribute for JongHyun, I’d probably be like this for a long time.
To SHINee, #SHINeeIs5, I’ll start watching again those video clips in YT, and laugh with you again guys. And eventhough I am nine years too late, I will get to know all of you more in the best way I can. And if fate permits, I will make sure that I will watch one of your concerts.
To JongHyun, thank you. You’re now in a better place. Now, go visit the beach. 다음에 또 봐 , 종현이.

Top Experiences At Changi Airport Singapore Recommended by Junus Tan!
Changi airport in Singapore is recently voted as the ‘best Airport in the World’ for a record 7th times in a row. And it’s not hard to see why. If you’ve been to this swanky airport lately, you must have noticed its wonderful passenger amenities, world-class infrastructure, and an astonishing range of attractions – all making your time at the airport memorable. Many veteran travellers like Junus Tan call it a complete tourist place. They, in fact, recommend the globetrotters to have a layover at Changi Airport, whenever they transit through it. Want to know why? Scroll Down.
The majority of the tourist attractions that Changi Airport hosts are FREE and located ‘Airside’- the place you get to after clearing the customs/immigration or when you arrive on a connecting flight. The airport’s three main terminals (1, 2, and 3) are within same side and well-connected through ‘Sky Train’ monorail system. This makes moving around easy and saves your time when you plan to explore the attractions.
Top Attractions to Visit When You’ve A Layover At Changi
A spectacular blend of nature and technology, Jewel is the latest addition to Changi’s marvelous attractions. A 50m Vortex waterfall, beautiful Forest Valley, Canopy Bridges and Mazes make it an overwhelming sight for kids and adults alike. To ensure you have a delightful time, it also features nice aviation facilities, a hotel and as many as 300 retail and dining outlets. It offers endless photo opportunities for Intagram buffs, said Junus Tan while describing this amazing attraction.
The Butterfly Garden
This is another gem of a place that Changi boasts of to the whole world. On the roof of Terminal 2, the garden as the name suggests is home to over 1000 butterflies of over 40 different species. The park is Free to enter, and is a nice spot to watch these lovely insects up close and learn their unique life-cycle.
The garden also has a 6m grotto waterfall, which is a sheer delight to watch. Butterfly Garden is easily one of the best tourist sites on Changi. And since it doesn’t cost anything, everyone who visit through Changi should pay a visit there- suggests Junus Tan Sg.
The Orchid Garden and Koi Pond
What a terrific display of 4-elements of nature- Earth, Water, Fire and Air, by using over 700 orchids from more than 30 species. There are wooden walkways built over the Koi pond for the visitors to wander around and enjoy these incredible displays. It is right in the heart of Terminal 2, and offers a soothing respite to the passengers landing here after a long flight or simply seeking some relaxing moments while waiting for their flights. While talking of the place, Junus Tan said that there’s definitely more to the Orchid garden than meets the eye. It is certainly the place to be to make your time at the airport worth it.
Free Massage at Terminal 2
Need a free massage after a long, tiresome flight? I wish! Well, when you’re a Changi, it’s not just a wish. Throughout terminals 1, 2 and 3 are multiple automatic foot massage chair offering FREE massage. While many think these are pay-for-massage machines, but the fact is you can treat yourself to a 15 minute foot and calf massage- absolutely Free! Junus Tan recommends you to have socks on as you never know who has sat there before. Head to the Wolfgang Puck restaurant in Terminal 1 – and you can find some full body massage chairs too. But there are often long queues for theses.
Other attractions you can visit during your layover at Changi Airport include The Enchanted Garden (T2), The Shilla Beauty Loft (T3), and The Sunflower Garden (T2).

True, that's what happens when people are hiding behind the anonymity (aka me too lol). Hopefully all goes well for your phone situation! MuBank was my 1st Kpop concert actually and I didn't want to miss seeing the boys since I've missed them in SWC. I think the Shilla concert would be a better experience as I'm quite fond of Red Velvet and the fans are quite alright. Wow seeing shabats among the crowd is truly a beautiful sight! Got myself the Budokan lightstick so pretty excited about that 6v6
Hahaha, no dearie, you’re hiding behind anonymity for different reasons than they are. They know what they are doing is rude/mean so they want to hide who they are (I don’t really understand the logic - if they are not proud of it, why do it at all). I’m surviving with my old phone for now since my contract is still a long ways away from renewing. I've got to sync all my songs back in so that I have music to drive to again but otherwise all is alright.
I haven’t really gotten exposed to Red Velvet and their fans. Like I hear their songs here and there but not even to the point of being able to sing along - just enough to recognize the songs. I did see some of the fans when I went to the airport though, they seemed nice and controlled (if that’s the word for it). I recognise other groups even less especially if they are not under SM, that’s why if I did go to Mubank I’d just be sitting there confused for most part of the concert LOL. But I agree, I totally regretted not going to SWC back in 2010 too - It’s only because I went to BKK and HK this year that I was not so desperate to see them when it is a multi-group concert. The tickets were really pricey too.
Oh you got Budokan lightstick! Prettyy~ It’s like a mini shabat that is officially allowed to concerts haha. I have the Diamonds, but they are not as bright and kind of fragile so I’m afraid of using it too much TT

Yes, I guess I got attached to the veteran actors so don't watch them anymore but cantonese dramas were so good! I don't have a large social circle but I feel maybe shawols are low profile? Around my age at least, but okay since i usually fangirl internally lol. Ahh yes, our boys have a healthy relationship and it shows! That's one of the main reasons I stayed too. It honestly baffles me whenever I see people attacking SHINee but as long as they're happy, healthy and making music together -
I’m content with their position now. They’ve accomplished so many things (both group and individually) in 9 years; I’m proud to be a shawol
I usually watch my Cantonese dramas original as it is though because I do understand Cantonese to some extent. But the acting and editing is so much better than our local ones.
Yea that’s me too. I always fangirl internally so it is usually the posters I have in my room that gives me away. And when I do meet another shawol, like we’ve got to assess just how much of a fan they are before scaring them away with our enthusiasm hahahaha. I’m quite socially awkward too like once when I was in US studying for uni, I wore a jacket that was wrote ‘SHINee World’ on the back, and the girl seated behind me came to me and commented that she liked my jacket. I asked her if she was a fan too and she said ‘'yea, I really like their new hair colors!” (Onew was pink and Taemin was lilac at the time). And I literally just went “Me too.” and ended then conversation right there 😂😂😂. So… yea, the only shawols I really talk SHINee to in real life are the ones I’ve met from the airport or my best friend who I converted. Yea I’m proud to be a shawol too, not just because of SHINee but also because of the fandom. Like the fandom is so full of nice people. Of course there will be bad apples but the majority I have seen and interacted with are so!nice! The fact that this kind community gathered together because of the boys says a lot too.
The thing is a lot of times when people come for them it is all about the charts. As much as I’d like them to win more stuff because I think they truly deserve to, the charts are basically a popularity vote - not really a good scale of whether or not their songs and performances are good or not. And it’s not like they aren’t charting at all. They are known enough that their careers aren’t in any danger, and they are well-liked for both their music/performance, and their attitudes/personality in general census from the industry. Like were the haters so bothered by SHINee that they had to hate on them? We can just be happy by ourselves, it’s fine. I try to envision ‘SHINee World’ as really a world of our own. It doesn’t matter what others say, they aren’t part of our world. I’m so torn whether or not I want to buy his vlive package. I want to support him especially since he is one of my biases but I’m just-… very bitter about Jinki getting cut out. I think he’s doing pretty well on his drama though. I didn’t have high hopes for his acting since honestly he doesn’t have a very good acting history, but he is doing really well, he must have practiced a lot (like he always does for anything he ever does).
Oh? Did your friend go inside, or in the public area? I felt like there were more stuff to choose from online, but yea there were certain things that were only available in the stores. I’m quite surprised the turnout is going so slowly. I thought a lot more people would want to go, but I think the price is just too hefty especially if anyone doesn’t have a planned partner to share with. But at the same time I feel it’s fair since we can keep the stuff we buy so technically the tickets are free - except pretty much none of us would have bought so much from them in the first place.

Yes I never understood the purpose of writing hateful messages :/ Wow it's nice that the airport situation was okay and not too rowdy! Badly managed airport arrivals leaves a bad impression so that's cool. I see RV on my twitter so I gave their recent mini/title songs a listen, but that's all? Multi-fandom is really not my thing too. But I'm still hoping that they'll return for a full concert now that I can spend my own money lol (it has been 5 years T^T). Yeah, the rose at the tip is what made-
-me buy it! The diamond is really pretty too but I’ve got to save up for Shilla and future album releases. I’ve already spent some on albums & concert goods so need to control ;; SHINee is not letting us live this year lol
I see someone’s a night owl too 👀😏
The arrival was packed for Mubank because all the groups landed in the same terminal nearly the same time, there were barricades and everything put up and some dozen or so staff to control the crowd. The ‘soldiers’  (if you know what I mean) were… bad. They stood in places they were repeatedly told not to stand and were shoving and pushing so badly. One stood behind me and tried to sneak her leg around mine to shove me off so I… kinda… elbowed her back, opps. Thank heavens for the barricades and staff though. The idols were all given a lot of space to get to the exit because of that. But during departure, SHINee’s and RV’s flight was going to be in a different terminal than the other groups, so I could distinguish the fans within just these 2 fandoms and they seemed pretty nice in general. (They took CIP in the end so we didn’t get to see them departing)
I think SG Shawols, if O’s arrival and departure for ESE was a good depiction, were all very respectful - no screaming or yelling, no shoving, and just listen to security instructions very well. Idk if you were there but during his departure for ESE, the security told us to stand behind the carpeted area (a good 5 or so meters away from O, and all the shawols just obediently followed the instructions while he stood there checking in for the next 10 minutes). Of course that was just for O, not all 5 members, but in comparison to CY’s departure during ESE at that time, I was really proud to be a Shawol. CY’s crowd seemed too intrusive to me… they took selfies with her, crowded around her, lots of screaming, etc. So with the Mubank arrival, that was some real difference compared my previous experience with airport for ESE.
I decided not to go for SWC back then because I was having an exam 2 days later and didn’t want to study on my birthday which was the day after the concert. Regretted it till this day TT.
Yea, Diamond is really expensive too. I just bought Jjong’s photobook… and some Dome merch… clearly I’m not doing a very good job restricting myself LOL. Taemin’s upcoming album, SWCV DVD, all pending on my bank account already. Somedays I look at my shelf of SHINee stuff and wonder how much I have already spent on them. Yea, this year because of going to concerts, I spent way more on them than usual - not going to give it up on anything else though, totally worth it 😂
