Simi Valley Police Officer injured in on-duty traffic collision
Officer Tom Carney, a 14 year veteran with the Simi Valley Police Department and former Marine, was seriously injured on June 15, 2016 while riding his motorcycle south bound on Tapo Canyon Road at Los Angeles Ave in Simi Valley. A 43 year old woman driving a small pickup truck, made a u-turn directly into Officer Carney’s path throwing him off his motorcycle. He was transported to Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks where he is being treated for significant head injuries, multiple fractures, and internal injuries. 
The Simi Valley Police Department along with the American Red Cross and the Simi Valley Unified School District have organized a blood drive that will take place as follows:
Date: Tuesday June 21, 2016 Time: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Location: Simi Valley High School, Multi-Purpose Room 5400 Cochran Street, Simi Valley

The driver of the truck was not injured during the collision. She was not cited or arrested.
The SMVP along with CHP are working together in this investigation. CHP Moorpark division is asking anyone who might have witnessed the collision to give them a call at (805) 553-0800.
