I Could Never Lose You

category: flooof, angst

pairing: rocky X reader

note: if you were in the reader’s position, would you be able to forgive him?

You kicked your shoes off your feet and dropped your heavy purse onto the floor with made a loud sigh when it slammed onto the ground. It had been an absolutely EXHAUSTING day. After dealing with grouchy customers who demanded refunds, accidentally switching up orders, and getting scolded by the manager, you were completely sapped of energy.

All you desired at the moment was to flop down on your soft, comfy bed and cuddle with Rocky. Or maybe even bathe in warm water while listening to your favorite music playlist. But when you looked up, you were greeted with a Rocky who was glaring at you with furrowed eyebrows. His arms were crossed against his chest and to say the least, he looked unpleased.

"Hey," you tiredly called out and smiled weakly.

Rocky raised one eyebrow and cocked his head at you, "Where were you? It's midnight."

You heaved a heavy sigh and undid your loose hair bun whose strands were falling out of place anyways. "The manager made me work extra hours because I made a mistake... sorry about that." When you reached for your boyfriend's handsomee face to kiss him, he only swatted your hand away.

Immediately, you knew something was off. "Rocky?"

Your boyfriend examined your face carefully, "Are you sure you're not lying to me?"

A thick atmosphere was clouded in the room as you blinked at him in disbelief. Your eyes widened and you stared at him for a while wondering if he was just playing around. His glare tells you your answer. Was he really doubting you?

"Why would I lie about that...?" you carefully inquired while blankly looking at his face. Rocky scoffed as if you were being ridiculous. Your blood ran cold at the way he was acting... it doesn't feel like you're talking to the Rocky you know.

"Because I saw the way you looked at one of your coworkers. What's his name... Moonbin? You two were obviously flirting with eachother." he coldly stated as if he was only telling facts.

Again, you were at loss of words. Moonbin was merely just an amiable coworker of yours... never had you once considered him as a love interest. Your heart was only for Rocky's, and you thought he would know that too.

"Are you really trying to imply that I was cheating on you?" you asked in bewilderment.

"Yes. And I don't know if you're actually lying about working late. What if you were on a romantic date with him? What other things could you guys have done that I'm not aware about?"

"Rocky... do you not trust me?" you fearfully asked, "Don't you know that I would never-"

"No, in fact I don't." he spat without missing a beat. "Just admit it, you cheated on me."

You sputtered your words, "You know fucking what, if you don't trust me I don't think we can have this relationship anymore." Your heart was pounding so rapidly in your chest, and your breathing was unstable. There's no way this was happening. You had to resist pinching yourself to wake you up from this nightmare.

"Fine!" he shouted a little too loudly with his fists clenched.

Your heart stopped at that one syllable. Maybe you were hoping he would apologize and take what he said back... maybe you were hoping he wouldn't let you go. You considered even jumping into his arms and begging him to take what he said back. But when his glare at you doesn't waver, you realize that he was being serious.

A single tear shed from your eye but you quickly wiped it away with your sleeve. So this was it. This was really happening. The aching in your chest grew even more painful when you picked your bag up and stuffed your feet back in your shoes messily.

Without another word, you twisted the doorknob and fled the house. When the door shut behind you, your legs who have been trying so hard the whole day finally gave up. They grew limp and you collapsed on the floor in exhuastion. You didn't get a chance to sit down for so long.

Although you tried to pool enough strength to stand up at least, your body was tired and refused. So you curled up in a ball on the front steps of the door and sobbed with no other choice. Tears rapidly raced eachother on your cheeks and your clothed knees were damped with regret.

It had been three full days. You were at your job which was in a small, cozy cafe. The place was quite cute, fairy lights hung on the walls and tiny succulents decorated all of the tables. You would've loved your job if it weren't for your boss, a complete asshole who was demanding and a perfectionist.

Your elbow was resting on the counter as you leaned in front of the cash register. These past days have not been the best. Your coworkers noticed your change in mood and were concerned about the dark eye bags drooping beneath your eyes and your weak, breathy voice. Whenever they asked about it, you would just wave it off with a smile. They probably thought it was that time of the month.

Moonbin approached you timidly once, "Are you okay (Y/N)? You look tired." He examined your face suspiciously.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just need some rest," you convinced him.

You felt empty. Ever since the night you left Rocky's house in tears, you couldn't find yourself to cry anymore after that. Maybe your eyes ran out of tears or maybe you just accepted it.

Just to be cautious however, your coworkers made sure they didn't pester you too much and gave you several secret breaks. You were grateful of their pity. That was until your manager stormed into the cafe furiously, face tinted with red and moustache threatening to fly off.

"(Y/N)!" he roared which caused everybody in the cafe to twist their heads at the scene.

Your coworkers coiled in fear and eyed you with sympathy. You jumped at your name and fell out of your thoughts, "Yes boss?"

"What the hell do you think you're doing right now?" he questioned while towering over you.

"I-I'm sorry... I was daydreaming and I-"

"This cafe is a fucking business (Y/N). If you keep slacking around like this I'm going to fire you for sure. I am done with your bullshit, and it was obviously a mistake hiring you in the first place."

The words stung but you kept your head lowered. All you wanted was to go home, to be alone. You were tired, empty, and drained of energy.

Just when you thought he was done, you saw the shadow of his arm raising up at you threatingly. Fear shot across your face and you covered your head and closed your eyes instincitively. But he never hit you.

When you opened your eyes hesitantly, you saw a familiar hand gripping onto your boss' sleeved arm, halting him from touching you. Your boss was then shoved onto the floor powerfully with a startled holler. Before you could even register what just happened, you felt warm arms wrap around your body protectively and your attention was immediately directed to the handsome face who was running up to you urgently.

"(Y/N)... shit... are you okay?" Rocky quietly asked while caressing your face with both of his hands. "This is all my fault..."

Rocky's glossy eyes stared at you worriedly as his hands pet your hair tenderly. Your lips curled up genuinely until your curiousity started to spark in your mind, "Wait. What are you doing here?"

He flinched, "I just... I was about to come here to apologize but I saw the bastard yell at you. And I was about to interfere but then I saw him about to hit you and I just ran as fast as I could and... fuck. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have accused you of cheating."

You knew that you could easily forgive him anytime because you loved him so much. Of course, you would ALWAYS forgive him.

"I overreacted because I never want to lose you to another person..." Rocky continued and pulled you closer to his chest. "After you left I cried. And that was the first time I cried over a girl. I just- I realized how much I need you." he confessed with no hesitation. It was obvious he screwed up, but you couldn't find yourself to stay mad at him. "I never want to lose you," Rocky continued, "You mean a lot to me and I just... ugh. God. I hate myself."

"I need you too..." you admitted and sniffed in his familiar scent. It felt and smelled better than anything else.

Out of nowhere, a loud applause was sounded and the two of you looked up, startled like deers caught in headlights. It turns out that the whole cafe was spectating and all found the scene so beautiful. There were a couple hoots and whistles from the people which made you snort. Some people were even wiping their eyes at how emotional it was.

"Uhhh..." Rocky awkwardly said, "I forgot people were watching."

"Yeah, let's get out of here before my boss comes for you."

"Sounds great."
