Shabbat Parah 2023 / שַׁבָּת פּרה 5783
Shabbat of the Red Heifer 🕍
Shabbat Parah for Hebrew Year 5783 begins at sundown on Friday, 10 March 2023 and ends at nightfall on Saturday, 11 March 2023. This corresponds to Parashat Ki Tisa.
Shabbat Parah (“Sabbath [of the] red heifer” שבת פרה) takes place on the Shabbat before Shabbat HaChodesh, in preparation for Passover. Numbers 19:1-22 describes the parah adumah (“red heifer”) in the Jewish temple as part of the manner in which the kohanim and the Jewish people purified themselves so that they would be ready (“pure”) to sacrifice the korban Pesach.

MS: A “Massive Altar” For The Red Heifer Sacrifice Has Been Constructed In Israel
COGwriter
Michael Snyder posted the above photo that was in a CBS item related to red heifers. Here is some of what he has posted about those matters:
A “Massive Altar” For The Red Heifer Sacrifice Has Been Constructed In Israel
March 20, 2024
Since the time of Moses, only nine red heifers have been sacrificed. Now, a “massive altar” for the tenth red heifer sacrifice has been built in Israel, and there is a tremendous amount of speculation that it could happen soon. In September 2022, five red heifers were flown from the state of Texas to the land of Israel.  Since that time, one of them has been disqualified, but the other four continue to be candidates for a red heifer sacrifice.  As I discussed last week, there was “a practice run of the purification ceremony” in 2023.  But an official ceremony must be conducted before the heifers get too old to be used for such a sacrifice.
So will a red heifer be sacrificed in Israel in 2024?
According to CBS News, a “massive altar” has already been constructed. …
A red heifer sacrifice would need to happen on the Mount of Olives, and the land where the sacrifice would take place is owned by Rabbi Yitshak Mamo…
According to those working on the project, the ceremony of the red heifer needs to be performed on the Mount of Olives, and in a place that would have looked directly into where the Temple stood. The land directly east of the Temple Mount, purchased 12 years ago, meets both of those standards.
Rabbi Yitshak Mamo owns that land on the Mount of Olives. Mamo is with Uvne Yerusalim, a group that preserves Israel’s history and works to educate future generations.
Concerning the specifics of the land, he told CBN News, “It had to be exactly at the front of the place that the priest that made this ceremony can see the Holy of the Holy Place.”
But the clock is ticking.
If the heifers get too old, they will no longer qualify. …
Last month, All Israel News reported that the Temple Institute wants to conduct a sacrifice “before Passover 2024”…
As of now, four of the heifers remain blemish-free and, according to Temple Institute rabbis, they hope to carry out the ceremony before Passover 2024.
This year, the Jewish people will celebrate Passover on April 22nd. …
There has been a lot of speculation on social media that a red heifer sacrifice could potentially take place on March 29th because the “Sabbath of the red heifer” begins at sundown that evening…
I do believe that the Temple Institute fully intends to conduct a red heifer sacrifice at some point in 2024.
And when that happens, Israel’s enemies are going to go haywire. …
Hamas has actually admitted that the red heifers were one of the reasons why they attacked Israel on October 7th…
Once Israel’s enemies realize that a red heifer has been sacrificed, they are going to go absolutely nuts.
So this is a really big deal. https://endoftheamericandream.com/a-massive-altar-for-the-red-heifer-sacrifice-has-been-constructed-in-israel/
Yes, this red heifer matter looks to be a real big deal.
Hamas and Iran-backed Hezbollah raised concerns about red heifer ramifications prior to Hamas’ October 7, 2023 attack as the following shows:
Hamas has repeatedly described its war on Israel not in secular Western categories, such as resistance to colonialism, but as an attempt to defend Al-Aqsa, which Muslim tradition holds was the site of its Prophet Mohamed’s night journey.
Similarly, this past August, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah called on Muslims throughout the world to defend Al-Aqsa. Hamas has labeled its Oct. 7 assault on Israel the “Al-Aqsa Wave,” a term resonant not of Palestinian nationalism but of rescuing an Islamic holy site from depredation and destruction by infidels.
This focus on Al-Aqsa has extended to red heifers. Upon the arrival of the five heifers from Texas, Hezbollah and Hamas issued warnings that this meant that the expected assault on Al-Aqsa would soon occur. Following the Temple Institute’s September 2023 announcement of the birth of its candidate heifer, the Islamist-oriented Middle East Monitor carried the headline, “Israel’s red cow will blow up the region.”
The Palestine News Network also highlighted the heifers. In an interview for the Hamas television channel, named “Al-Aqsa,” Dr. Ahmad Shihab said that bringing red heifers to Jerusalem shows that “the fascist Israeli government encourages the settlers to continue harming al-Aqsa mosque.”
A senior Palestinian source in touch with the political leadership of Hamas was asked by Middle East Eye: “Why did the attack take place when it did?”
He replied, “The trigger for the 7 October attack was Hamas’s concern that far-right Jews intended to sacrifice an animal at the site of al-Aqsa Mosque, thus laying the ground for the demolition of the Dome on the Rock shrine and the building of the Third Temple.” 11/13/23 https://www.hudson.org/religious-freedom/unblemished-red-heifers-key-understanding-conflict-middle-east-paul-marshall
In January, a Hamas spokesperson confirmed that the red heifers were a reason it launched its October 7th attack (see I365: Hamas Spokesman: Oct 7 attack launched to stop the red heifers). Let me add that in January 2024, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made the statement, “Hamas and its backer Iran” (https://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-vows-no-palestinian-state-attacks-israeli-media-denies-blindsiding-gallant/ 01/18/24)–so it would seem that Iran itself could have concerns about the red heifer sacrifice.
The sacrifice of a red heifer may even become a factor in an expanded regional war that could ultimately result in the confirmation of the deal of Daniel 9:27 and the countdown to the start of the Great Tribulation approximately 3 1/2 years later as well as the return of Jesus seven years after the deal is confirmed by someone that the Bible refers to as a prince in Daniel 9:26.
Anyway, I had not seen the “massive white altar” photo at the beginning of this post until today.
That altar is NOT the one that the Sanhedrin dedicated in a ceremony back in December of 2018. The Sanhedrin altar looks to be intended for regular/daily sacrifices, whereas the massive white one looks to be for a major show of a large animal, in this case a red heifer.
That said, the Temple Institute wants the area known as the Temple Mount to be cleared of all Islamic structures in order for it to construct a temple as they believe that Muslim structures are where their temple needs to be. Here is some information from two webpages of the Temple Institute related to that:
In our own times, the commandment of the red heifer takes on more and more significance. For without it, the Divine service of the Holy Temple cannot be resumed. There is a spiritual renaissance today in Israel; after almost 2,000 years, Israel is clearly moving towards the time when the Holy Temple on Mount Moriah – the prophesied Third Temple – will be rebuilt. https://templeinstitute.org/red-heifer-introduction/ accessed 03/11/24
Geo-politically, the Temple Mount has to be cleared of the Dome of the Rock and the mosques which are presently located upon it before the physical rebuilding of the Holy Temple can begin. Many scenarios can be imagined which would accomplish this, the most promising, and not necessarily the most far-fetched, would entail Moslem recognition of the Mount as the intended location for the rebuilt Temple. With the acquiescence of the Moslem world the Moslem structures currently on the Mount would be disassembled and reassembled elsewhere. …
As for the ashes of the red heifer, while these are essential, the possibility to temporarily proceed with the Divine service at the Holy Temple, when the majority of the nation of Israel is ritually impure, as is the case today, exists according to Torah. This is in order to assist the nation to begin, or continue, the service, even during extreme situations.
In short, it is not “technical” issues that are holding up the rebuilding of the Holy Temple, as these can be worked out. What is need is the will of the people of Israel, and the nations, to do what is necessary and build the house of G-d. https://templeinstitute.org/frequently-asked-questions/ accessed 03/17/24
So, yes, having a Temple Institute-connected group sacrificing a red heifer could well be perceived as a sign that the Jews intend to remove those Islamic structures. This red heifer sacrifice then would seem to enrage certain Muslims and could result in an expanded war. The sacrifice of a red heifer could also be perceived as a another reason by the government of Iran for it to launch an attack against Israel.
Such a deployment by Iran would be consistent with the following biblical prophecy:
5 For it is a day of trouble and treading down and perplexity By the Lord God of hosts In the Valley of Vision — Breaking down the walls And of crying to the mountain. 6 Elam bore the quiver With chariots of men and horsemen, And Kir uncovered the shield. 7 It shall come to pass that your choicest valleys Shall be full of chariots, And the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate. 8 He removed the protection of Judah. You looked in that day to the armor of the House of the Forest; 9 You also saw the damage to the city of David, That it was great; And you gathered together the waters of the lower pool. 10 You numbered the houses of Jerusalem, And the houses you broke down To fortify the wall. (Isaiah 22:5-10)
Elam is a reference to at least some in Iran. The old Worldwide Church of God published the following:
Iranians comprise nearly 70 percent of the country. Iranians, though Islamic, are totally distinct from the neighboring Arab peoples of the Middle East. They are a mixed people of the remnants of Media and Elam and other ancestors of Semitic and Hamitic stock. (Stump K. South Asia in Prophecy. Plain Truth, July/August 1986, p. 5)
As far as Kir goes, the Bible tells that after Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria took over Damascus, he moved Syrians to Kir (2 Kings 16:9-10). God’s word has the expression “the Syrians from Kir” (Amos 9:7), which is basically confirmation that Kir of Isaiah 22 would include Syrians. The Bible also tells of a time when Kir will be destroyed (Isaiah 15:1b) and also says that Syria’s capital Damascus will be destroyed (Isaiah 17:1). While this does not mean that Kir must (or must only) be a reference to Syria, the fact that Syria is an ally of Iran is interesting.
In Isaiah 22: 8, “Judah” is a reference to those in the land commonly called Israel–God will allow Israel to be attacked and greatly damaged! In Isaiah 22:9, consider that “the damage to the city of David” is a reference to at least part of Jerusalem. This, in turn, would be expected to result in a massive Israeli, possibly with US involvement, attack against Iran and its allies, like Syria.
Israel’s famed ‘Iron Dome’ will NOT stop the coming great damage that will hit Jerusalem, despite Israeli confidence. Perhaps Syria will be involved to somehow reduce its effectiveness when it “uncovered the shield.”
If so, Israel will not like that and would be expected to retaliate.
Now as Isaiah 22 shows, Israel could very well be damaged by Iran before the Great Tribulation begins. A red heifer sacrifice could be another trigger for this attack to occur.
As far as Iran and Israel go, the Continuing Church of God (CCOG) put together the following Bible News Prophecy video on our Bible News Prophecy YouTube channel:
youtube
15:03
Iran and Israel Conflict
European Union foreign policy chief, Josep Borrel, has been brokering the nuclear negotiations involving Iran and said that he thinks the deal is “in danger.” Iran blames the United States, whereas the USA says they are not delaying it. Israeli sources stated that Israel will stop Iran from getting a nuclear bomb. Joe Biden says the USA would use its own military power to prevent Iran from getting such a bomb if need be. In 2021, Iranian lawmakers have submitted a bill seeking the government by law to commit to Israel’s destruction by the year 2040. Does the 22nd chapter of Isaiah point to damage coming to Israel from Iran and possibly Syria? Might Iran be concerned enough about limited progress with the USA to launch some type of attack? Is Iran the prophesied ‘King of the South’? Is it reasonable to think that the prophesied peace deal of Daniel 9:27 will not happen until after a military conflict. like a regional war? Should Christians watch the Middle East? Dr. Thiel and Steve Dupuie discuss these matters.
Here is a link to our video: Iran and Israel Conflict.
As far as various prophecies go, again let me state that it may take a major regional war for the coming temporal ‘peace deal’ of Daniel 9:27 to be ratified. Iran, Syria, and Israel may one day be in a major regional war in the future. The USA could also be affected.
Interestingly, the Jews have a centuries old tradition that they will end up with some type of peace related to Iran:
Kessin, who holds has a Ph.D. in psychology from Fordham University and is a noted lecturer on Jewish philosophy in the U.S., Canada, South Africa and Israel, also sees significance in the recent U.S. deal with Iran over nuclear weapons.
There is an 800-year-old rabbinic commentary known as Yalkut Shimoni, which he translates: “Paras (Persia-Iran) will be the dread of humanity. The world’s leaders will be frustrated in their futile efforts to save what they can, but to no avail. The people of Israel will also be petrified by the impending danger. And HaShem (God) will say to us, ‘Why are you afraid? All of this I have done in order to bring you the awaited redemption. And this redemption will not be like the redemption from Egypt, which was followed by suffering. This redemption will be absolute, followed with peace.’” …
“We have now entered the countdown to the messiah, which is unbelievable,” Kessin said.(Rabbi: Blood moons mean ‘messianic advancement’. World News Daily, August 30, 2015. http://www.wnd.com/2015/08/rabbi-blood-moons-mean-messianic-advancement/#PvyBhDZJ5CBl3mwm.99)
So Jews, based on tradition, may believe that after conflict with Iran, Israel will have peace. Now a temporal peace deal, like the one related to Daniel 9:27 could come after a regional war involving Iran, Israel, Syria, and probably others. The existence of the Jewish tradition may incline the Jews to accept a timed peace deal which will NOT turn out well for the tiny nation of Israel (cf. Daniel 9:27; 11:31). However, the Bible itself shows that this deal will be broken (Daniel 9:27) and the King of the North will invade Jerusalem and stop sacrifices (Daniel 11:31) and this will not turn out well for the tiny nation of Israel.
We are in the time Jesus referred to as “the beginning of sorrows,” as it appears that two or three of the four horseman of the Apocalypse have begun their rides.
In addition to “rumors of war,” we should expect more wars as Jesus warned in Matthew 24:6.
Now, it should be pointed out the Jews do not need a massive temple in order to re-implement animal sacrifices. All they need is an altar and possibly a tent, which they have.

Temple Institute, Heifers, Hamas, and a Tent
In March 2024, the Temple Institute recently pointed out that how God blessed the Sabbath, He also blessed the construction of a tent tabernacle. They pointed out progress from the ancient Israelites. Should Christians be making spiritual progress each year before Passover? The Temple institute has stated that the area called ‘the Temple Mount’ needs to be cleared of Muslim mosques, etc. so that a ‘third temple’ can be built. It also claims that it has four thriving red heifers, one of which it want to sacrifice before the implementation of regular animal sacrifices. Has Hamas claimed that the existence and possible use of a red heifer was a factor in its attack in Israel on October 7, 2023? Does the Temple Institute believe it must have a massive temple in order for sacrifices to resume? Or is having a priesthood, an altar, and a tent enough? What does the Sanhedrin say about that? Did Ezra write that animal sacrifices were made after the first temple was destroyed, but before the second temple was started? Is that believed by numerous modern Jewish rabbis and scholars? Does the Bible teach that regular animal sacrifices will be resumed? Could there be any relationship to the stopping of them and the return of Jesus? Is the day of Jesus coming getting much closer? Dr. Thiel and Steve Dupuie address these issues.
Here is a link to our video: Temple Institute, Heifers, Hamas, and a Tent.
Some believe that a red heifer sacrifice could happen this Spring (see ‘Red Heifers could be ready for the Temple by Passover’ or Pentecost?).
We made an earlier video about that:

Red Heifer Sacrifice Ready April 2024?
In September 2022, five seemingly unblemished red heifers were transported from Texas to Boneh Israel in conjunction with some Protestants. In March 2023, the Temple Institute declared one of the red heifers disqualified for sacrifice. What is a red heifer? Why are certain Jews so concerned about having one? What does the Bible teach about the ashes of red heifer? Is a red heifer needed for Christians? If animal sacrifices are not needed for Christians, does the Bible prophesy future animal sacrifices? If so, will the stopping of them have anything to do with the countdown for return of Jesus and the establishment of the Kingdom of God according to the Book of Daniel? Did Moriel Barelli of Boneh Israel say he hopes a red heifer will be available for sacrifice by Passover in 2024, which is April 22? Is the sacrifice of a red heifer, like the Temple Institute and Sanhedrin want, going to usher in the Antichrist? Is there any relationship between daily animal sacrifices and the King of the North Beast power? Does the “fate of the world” rely on a red heifer as the Temple Institute has stated? Will the Messiah sacrifice the ‘tenth red heifer’? If not, might the Jews do it anyway? Dr. Thiel and Steve Dupuie address these issues.
Here is a link to the video: Red Heifer Sacrifice Ready April 2024?
As far as the timing, we shall see. But many want it soon.
The red heifer matter remains something to “Watch” as Jesus indicated in Mark 13:37.

Worthy Brief - March 15, 2024
Give thanks for His rest!
Hebrews 4:3-4 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: "So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter My rest,' " although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: "And God rested on the seventh day from all His works";
As God worked on creation for six days and rested on the seventh day, so our seven day week is established on that pattern. If, as the scripture declares, with the Lord one day is as 1,000 years and 1,000 years as a day, then the seven-day cycle also finds expression in a great historical "week". As we approach the 1,000-year reign of the Messiah, this "millennium" as it is called, (described in some detail in Revelation chapter 20), is clearly understood as a time of global rest, peace, and righteousness throughout the Earth.
This "millennial" rest could never come but for its foundation in Yeshua's cross which was established at the foundation of the world [Revelation 13:8], although it was historically accomplished about 2000 years ago. Our own regular week, itself, with its 7th day of rest gives perpetual testimony to our Lord's provision for all mankind. This provision is both natural and spiritual; present and future.
Yeshua's "work" on the cross was the greatest and most difficult labor in history. And He declared it finished, shortly before the Jewish Sabbath began that week, His followers hurrying to remove Him from the cross and bury Him in the tomb before Shabbat began. The Lord's agonizing work of suffering and death has given rest to all who have believed in Him.
Your weekly day of rest serves a powerful reminder aside from being a day of delight, refreshment, and renewal. You are resting in Yeshua's finished work, utterly incapable of laboring for your own righteousness, sins forgiven by the shedding of His blood. You also are resting in the hope of the world, the return of the Messiah to establish His peaceable kingdom of righteousness. So this weekend, leave the struggles -- the labors -- the toil of the week behind you – and enter into His rest, His peace. This is His good will for us who believe.
Shabbat Shalom! Have a great weekend and be sure to check out our new uploaded videos on YouTube.
Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

The Expected Two Witnesses (Part 1) 2/25/23 For several decades, preachers have been saying “the end is near”. I am of the opinion that the end is maybe 1,015 years away. The end, is what I will define as the end of Satan, the end of disease, the end of evil, the end of death, and the everlasting Feast of Tabernacles, which is the eternal reign of Yeshua on Earth. All of that is more than a thousand years away.
But what I will call the intermission, may be only 8 years away. At that time, will be the aftermath of the rapture of the saints. This is when the 1,000 years of peace will begin, and Satan will be bound in the bottomless pit. However, leading up to that intermission, this is what I expect to happen. It’s very possible that an alliance of ten nations will begin to come together very soon, perhaps this year. Certain covenants will probably be made. Also, a perfect red heifer will be presented in Israel, and a procedure followed that will ritually cleanse the Jewish people in Israel.
A red heifer is a dark red female cow which has never been pregnant, has never given milk, or never been yoked. It is also known as the red cow, which was a cow brought to the priests as a sacrifice according to the Torah, and its ashes were used for the ritual purification of a Jew that had come into contact with a dead person (Numbers 19:1-10).
After this ritual of purification, the Jews will consider themselves clean enough to build the third Temple. I believe that construction will begin maybe 600 feet southwest of what is presently called the temple mount. The Temple Mount was really a Roman Fort, which has mistakenly been perceived as where the first two temples were standing. I am guessing that Elijah will direct where the Temple should be erected.
If the two witnesses start their prophecy this coming March 29, 2023, they will have to have someone to prophecy against. The leader of three nations is to accept control of the other seven nations, who will willingly give him the authority. I guess the anti-Christ will be in full control by the time the witnesses start their testimony. Since the red heifer is presently pending, if the witnesses don’t appear in 2023, it would be delayed until April 17, 2024. A certain book explains “why”.
Will Enoch and Elijah be considered aliens by the news media? How will their presence be explained? The book “The Sabbath that Assassinated Atheism” describes the conditions of their appearance, and when they will be killed. How will the atheists explain the appearance of the two prophets? They will be dressed in sackcloth, whatever that looks like.
It is possible that there will be a measure of prosperity at the beginning of their testimony. But as time goes on, if they decide to stop the rain, and turn the seas to blood, they will not be very popular, and most people will want them to go away.
Will the two witnesses ever go to sleep? What and when will they eat? When and where will they sleep? Will they check in at a hotel? Will they be guests in someone home? Or will they not require sleep and stay standing in the street day and night? The book of Revelation does not seem to say.
It will be the two witnesses that will keep the anti-Christ at bay, until the anti-Christ receives an apparent fatal head wound. Maybe a gunshot to the head, at close range. However, the Beast will miraculously recover, and become much stronger than before.
If the witnesses appear in 2023, then on Wednesday September 9th, 2026, close to 7:00 AM in the morning, the anti-Christ will be the only one strong enough to overpower the witnesses and kill them where they stand. Scripture says that people will rejoice, and send each other gifts, celebrating the death of the two prophets. If the witnesses appear in 2024, then on Wednesday September 29th, 2027, close to 7:00 AM in the morning, the Beast will kill the two witnesses.
For 84 hours, the prophets will lie in the street, dead, for people to come up close and see what they looked like. Many might take pictures with their cameras and cell phones. Yes, they will have a party, until about 6:55 in the evening, on the sabbath, September 12th, or October 2nd 2027, when they will suddenly come to life. It will scare many half to death. Many people might have to go home and change their underwear.
End of Part 1.

Shabbat Parah 2022 / שַׁבָּת פּרה 5782
Shabbat of the Red Heifer 🕍
Shabbat Parah for Hebrew Year 5782 begins at sundown on Friday, 25 March 2022 and ends at nightfall on Saturday, 26 March 2022. This corresponds to Parashat Shmini.
Shabbat Parah ("Sabbath [of the] red heifer" שבת פרה) takes place on the Shabbat before Shabbat HaChodesh, in preparation for Passover. Numbers 19:1-22 describes the parah adumah ("red heifer") in the Jewish temple as part of the manner in which the kohanim and the Jewish people purified themselves so that they would be ready ("pure") to sacrifice the korban Pesach.

First Reading
1 Samuel 16:1-13
Jesse's youngest son David is anointed king
The Lord said to Samuel, ‘How long will you go on mourning over Saul when I have rejected him as king of Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem, for I have chosen myself a king among his sons.’ Samuel replied, ‘How can I go? When Saul hears of it he will kill me.’ Then the Lord said, ‘Take a heifer with you and say, “I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.” Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and then I myself will tell you what you must do; you must anoint to me the one I point out to you.’
Samuel did what the Lord ordered and went to Bethlehem. The elders of the town came trembling to meet him and asked, ‘Seer, have you come with good intentions towards us?’ ‘Yes,’ he replied ‘I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Purify yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice.’ He purified Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.
When they arrived, he caught sight of Eliab and thought, ‘Surely the Lord’s anointed one stands there before him’, but the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Take no notice of his appearance or his height for I have rejected him; God does not see as man sees; man looks at appearances but the Lord looks at the heart.’ Jesse then called Abinadab and presented him to Samuel, who said, ‘The Lord has not chosen this one either.’ Jesse then presented Shammah, but Samuel said, ‘The Lord has not chosen this one either.’ Jesse presented his seven sons to Samuel, but Samuel said to Jesse, ‘The Lord has not chosen these.’ He then asked Jesse, ‘Are these all the sons you have?’ He answered, ‘There is still one left, the youngest; he is out looking after the sheep.’ Then Samuel said to Jesse, ‘Send for him; we will not sit down to eat until he comes.’ Jesse had him sent for, a boy of fresh complexion, with fine eyes and pleasant bearing. The Lord said, ‘Come, anoint him, for this is the one.’ At this, Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him where he stood with his brothers; and the spirit of the Lord seized on David and stayed with him from that day on. As for Samuel, he rose and went to Ramah.

The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath
One sabbath day, Jesus happened to be taking a walk through the cornfields, and his disciples began to pick ears of corn as they went along. And the Pharisees said to him, ‘Look, why are they doing something on the sabbath day that is forbidden?’ And he replied, ‘Did you never read what David did in his time of need when he and his followers were hungry – how he went into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the loaves of offering which only the priests are allowed to eat, and how he also gave some to the men with him?’
And he said to them, ‘The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath; the Son of Man is master even of the sabbath.’

First Reading
1 Corinthians 1:26-31
God chose what is foolish by human reckoning, to shame the wise
Take yourselves for instance, brothers, at the time when you were called: how many of you were wise in the ordinary sense of the word, how many were influential people, or came from noble families? No, it was to shame the wise that God chose what is foolish by human reckoning, and to shame what is strong that he chose what is weak by human reckoning; those whom the world thinks common and contemptible are the ones that God has chosen – those who are nothing at all to show up those who are everything. The human race has nothing to boast about to God, but you, God has made members of Christ Jesus and by God’s doing he has become our wisdom, and our virtue, and our holiness, and our freedom. As scripture says: if anyone wants to boast, let him boast about the Lord.

R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm
Psalm 22(23):1-3a,4-6
R/ The Lord is my shepherd: there is nothing I shall want.
The Lord is my shepherd;
there is nothing I shall want.
Fresh and green are the pastures
where he gives me repose.
Near restful waters he leads me,
to revive my drooping spirit.
R/ The Lord is my shepherd: there is nothing I shall want.
He guides me along the right path;
he is true to his name.
If I should walk in the valley of darkness
no evil would I fear.
You are there with your crook and your staff;
with these you give me comfort.
R/ The Lord is my shepherd: there is nothing I shall want.
You have prepared a banquet for me
in the sight of my foes.
My head you have anointed with oil;
my cup is overflowing.
R/ The Lord is my shepherd: there is nothing I shall want.
Surely goodness and kindness shall follow me
all the days of my life.
In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell
for ever and ever.
R/ The Lord is my shepherd: there is nothing I shall want.

He sells everything he owns and buys the field
Jesus said to the crowds: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field which someone has found; he hides it again, goes off happy, sells everything he owns and buys the field.
‘Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls; when he finds one of great value he goes and sells everything he owns and buys it.’

pure & sacred truth.
in a post shared Today by John Parsons that illuminates an ancient decree of Temple service yet it reveals an act of grace in God’s pure Love for us in cleansing us so that we will never really have to die. and the inner room of the heart of a child of Light has become the very living and breathing Temple here on earth.
John’s post:
Our Torah portion this week (i.e., parashat Chukat) begins, with the words: zot chukat ha-Torah (זאת חֻקַּת הַתּוֹרָה), "this is the decree of Torah" (Num. 19:2). The language here is both striking and unique, suggesting that what follows, namely, the ritual of the parah adumah or “red heifer,” is nothing less than "the seminal decree" of the entire Torah... If we think about the meaning of the mysterious decree of the red heifer, however, we will realize that its ashes were used to create the "waters of separation" (i.e., mei niddah: מֵי נִדָּה) to cleanse people from contact with death (i.e., separation). To fulfill God's vital decree, however, required sacrificial love, since the priest who offered this service would become defiled (separated) for the sake of the healing of others... The Hebrew word for love is ahavah (אַהֲבָה), from a root verb (יָהַב) that means “to give.” Love means giving of yourself to benefit another person (John 15:13). The central decree of Torah, then, beyond our ability to rationally understand, is that God's love is so great that it is willing to become dust and ashes on our behalf so that we might find blessing and life. ILLUSTRATED TOUR OF THE HOLY TEMPLE: PT. 105
At the Sides of the Ark of the Covenant
In the Holy of Holies, next to the Ark, a number of items were placed as testimony for future generations: a jar of Manna, a jar of anointing oil, Aharon's staff that blossomed with almond flowers, and the box that the Philistines sent when they returned the Ark to Israel. These things were hidden together with the Ark towards the end of the First Temple period.
The vessels on the side of the Ark were placed there as testimony for future generations. Aaron's staff that blossomed with buds and flowers following the controversy regarding Korach and his followers was testimony that the Almighty had chosen the descendants of Aaron for the priesthood, for all time. The jar which held some Manna from the time of the desert, was testimony to the continuous protection which the Almighty provides to the Nation of Israel. The jar which held the anointing oil made by Moshe, was used to anoint kings and High Priests.
The anointing oil was used to anoint the Mishkan and its vessels. In the Temple, it was used to anoint Kings from the House of David and High Priests. (Source: Rambam, Klei Hamikdash 1, 1-12)
A jar of Manna was placed in the Holy of Holies as a memorial and testimony to the Almighty's Divine protection over the Children of Israel. During the forty year period that Israel was in the desert, the Manna descended from the sky for them each day, with the exception of the Sabbath. (Source: Exodus 16, 11-36)
At the time of Korach's controversy, Aharon's staff blossomed and budded with flowers and almonds. This staff was placed in the Holy of Holies as a memorial and as testimony to the selection of Aharon's descendants for the priesthood for all time. (Source: Numbers 16, 16-26)

Garments of Salvation
“I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.” (Isaiah 61:10)
One of the beautiful biblical metaphors of salvation is that of clothing appropriate for coming into God’s presence. Such clothing is not something we ourselves can make or purchase; it must be prepared and provided by God.
Adam and Eve tried to dress themselves in fig leaves, but that could not avail. Their Creator God first had to slay two innocent animals, and then He made “coats of skins and clothed them” (see Genesis 3:7, 21).
So it is today. If we try to come to God dressed in our works of righteousness, we can never make it, for “all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” in the presence of a holy God (Isaiah 64:6). He must provide the clothing. As our text says, “he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness.”
In Jesus’ parable of the wedding feast for the king’s son, there was one man who wanted to participate in the feast, but who tried to come in his own attire, disdaining the wedding garment provided by the king for his guests. When the king asked, “How camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment?” he was speechless (Matthew 22:12), and then was bound hand and foot and thrown “into outer darkness” (v. 13).
When “the marriage of the Lamb is come,” His bride must be “arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: . . . the righteousness of saints” (Revelation 19:7-8). But this righteousness will be His, “for we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works” (Ephesians 2:10). Therefore, we are exhorted to “put on thy beautiful garments” (Isaiah 52:1) and be prepared to meet our King. HMM

STRANGE STATUTES
This is the statute of the Torah, which God has commanded… (Num. 19:2) This week’s Torah portion is Chukat, which means “Statute” and specifically refers to Torah laws that are difficult to understand or have no apparent purpose. Many Jewish laws, such as “Do not murder” or “Observe the Sabbath day” make sense to us. A society where people have license to kill each other will self-destruct. Having a day of rest is healthy for body, mind and spirit. But what about the law of the red heifer, the statute that begins parsha Chukat? The red heifer is an entirely red cow without blemish (very rare) that must be slaughtered and burned in a detailed ritual, after which the ashes are used in purification ceremonies. We follow the chukat statutes because God told us to, not because they make sense to us. The Torah tells us that following these incomprehensible statutes “will be proof of your wisdom and discernment to other peoples” (Rashi on Deut. 4:6). Why will non-Jews consider us wise for following laws that seem pointless, even absurd? Doesn’t this make us look silly rather than smart? Rabbi Moshe Kormornick answers this with a parable: there are three sick people who need medical treatment. Two are fools and one is wise. The first fool tells the doctor, “I refuse to take this medicine unless I understand exactly what it is and how it works!” Since he has no medical background, he is incapable of understanding the science behind the medicine, refuses to take it and dies. The second fool takes the medicine, but doesn’t bother to ask if the person offering it is a trained physician. If the “doctor” is a fraud, the medicine won’t work. The third patient is a wise man. He first confirms that the person offering medicine is indeed a trained and certified medical practitioner. Once he knows that, he agrees to take the medicine despite not understanding exactly how it works.  So, too, with God’s statutes. We don’t need to understand them as long as we know they were given to us by our Creator with infinite love. Rabbi Kormornick says, “It is most appropriate that the Jewish People receive praise for their wisdom in following these incomprehensible statutes, for our decision is not made on the statute itself, but on the One commanding it.”

The Temple institute has stated that the area called 'the Temple Mount' needs to be cleared of Muslim mosques, etc. so that a 'third temple' can be built. It also claims that it has four thriving red heifers, one of which it wants to sacrifice before the implementation of regular animal sacrifices.

The Temple Institute points to the Sabbath and a tent
COGwriter
The Temple Institute had the following in its newsletter for today:
“In accordance with all that HaShem had commanded”
(Exodus 39:42)
Adar Sheni 5, 5784/March 15, 2024
“And G-d saw all that He had made, and behold it was very good, and it was evening and it was morning, the sixth day. Now the heavens and the earth were completed and all their host. And G-d completed on the seventh day His work that He did, and He abstained on the seventh day from all His work that He did. And G-d blessed the seventh day and He hallowed it, for thereon He abstained from all His work that G-d created to do.” (Genesis 1:31-2:3)
“In accordance with all that HaShem had commanded Moshe, so did the children of Israel do all the work. Moshe saw the entire work, and lo! they had done it – as HaShem had commanded, so had they done. So Moshe blessed them.” (Exodus 39:42-43)
Do you hear what I hear? The grand finale of the building of the Mishkan (Tabernacle) in the wilderness receives a description by Torah eerily similar to the grand finale of the six days of creation. The work of the Tabernacle receives Divine approval just as the work of the heavens and the earth and all that is contained within. And just as G-d blessed and sanctified the seventh day, the place in time in which He would rest from His work, so does Moshe bless the children of Israel who have in six months created the moment in space within which HaShem would rest His presence.
A modest tent made of wooden beams and animal skins, of dyed fabrics and, yes, of vessels fashioned from silver and gold, merits praise akin to that bestowed upon the creation of the world itself! The labor of mortal man receives the same expressions of admiration as that of the work of the Almighty Creator.
So concludes the book of Exodus, with the completion of the Tabernacle, its assembly by Moshe, and the filling up of the Tabernacle with the cloud of “the glory of HaShem.” (ibid 40:35) The same book which opened with the bitter enslavement of the Hebrews in Egypt, closes with HaShem’s manifest presence entering within the midst of the Israelite congregation. The Hebrew slaves left Egypt on the fifteenth day of the month of Nisan, “the first of your months,” (ibid 12:2) and the Tabernacle was completed “in the first month, in the second year, on the first day of the month.” (ibid 40:17) What a difference a year makes!
A year can make a big difference. As Christians, we are to told to examine ourselves every year prior to taking of the bread and wine of Passover (1 Corinthians 11:28; see also Examine Yourself before Passover). We are also admonished to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18; see also Preparing for the ‘Short Work’ and The Famine of the Word).
We should be different, in a very positive way each year.
Now another point from the Temple Institute’s newsletter was that the original tabernacle used for animal sacrifices was a tent.
While the Temple Institute actually wants the area known as the Temple Mount to be cleared of Muslim mosques, etc. in order to build a massive ‘third temple’ (see I365: Hamas ‘striving to ignite the region during Ramadan’ says Mossad; COGwriter: Could Jesus return in 2031?), the reality is that they only need an altar and perhaps a tent. This was confirmed to me by an employee of the Temple Institute when I visited their location in Jerusalem back in October 2013.
It is also consistent with scripture.
It should be understood that the Bible itself nowhere teaches that animal sacrifices require a temple in Jerusalem. Also, the position of certain other Jewish scholars is that a physical temple, while helpful, is NOT required.
Until Solomon built the first temple (1 Kings 6:14), the Bible shows that the Jews sacrificed on altars. David, Solomon’s father, for example sacrificed on an altar (2 Samuel 24:25), as did Aaron and his descendants (Exodus 20:24; Leviticus 1:10-11).  And prior to all of that, Abel (Genesis 4:4), Noah (Genesis 8:20), Abraham (Genesis 22:9-13), and others sacrificed animals to God.
So for over 3,000 years, animal sacrifices were offered without a Jewish temple.
Even after the first Jerusalem temple was destroyed and left in ruins, the Bible itself specifically shows that sacrifices were made in the time of Ezra BEFORE the second temple was ready:
6 From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the LORD. But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid. (Ezra 3:6)
One may argue that since it takes the participation of Jewish religious leaders in order for Jewish animal sacrifices to be resumed in the 21st century, that the above scripture is a moot point.
And it might be if there were no Jewish religious leaders that thought that they could not sacrifice without a temple.
Yet the fact is, that although they are in the minority, there are significant numbers of Jewish religious leaders who are intent on starting animal sacrifices as soon as possible. And these Jewish leaders do not believe that they have to wait in order for a temple to rebuilt in order to do so.
Notice the following:
The 71 members of the “Re-established Sanhedrin” say they want to begin sacrificing animals again, despite the absence of the Temple, the ritual altar and all the required implements listed in the Bible. Rabbi Dov Stein of the group admitted…
“We want to do the sacrifice, but we have political problems,” Stein said. “We hope there will come a time when the government will agree. We will push for that to happen.” (Rabbis aim to renew animal sacrifices. Associated Press. Feb 28, 2007. http://www.jpost.com)
The “Sanhedrin” group referred to above began to form in 2004 and claims to have “the consent of hundreds of rabbis, scholars and leaders” (http://www.thesanhedrin.org/en/index.php/The_Sanhedrin_Initiative viewed 09/11/08). It also has been working on implements, including those related to having an altar.
Notice something in 2016 from the then leader of the Sanhedrin:
April 19, 2016
Breaking Israel News asked Rabbi Hillel Weiss, secretary of the Nascent Sanhedrin, if the mitzvah of korban pesach is incumbent upon the Jews today by Jewish law, despite the lack of a Temple or an altar. “Of course. There isn’t even a question,” Rabbi Weiss answered. “There is nothing in Jewish law that prevents us from performing this sacrifice. The only obstacle is the government that will not allow the Jews to do this great mitzvah, so the sin is on them, and not, God forbid, on the Jewish people.”
The Sanhedrin established a committee in 2004 concerning the korban pesach to work in cooperation with all religious, legal, and administrative authorities. The committee has attempted several times to obtain the government’s permission. Legal documents were sent to the Prime Minister, the Supreme Court, and the Chief of Police. The Prime Minister did not respond. The Supreme Court appeared to uphold the right to perform the sacrifice, but denied it on grounds of security. This answer was reiterated by the Chief of Police.
Indeed, the korban pesach is not dependent on the presence of a Temple and continued long after the Second Temple was destroyed. http://www.breakingisraelnews.com/66076/passover-sacrifice-makes-comeback-overlooking-temple-mount-photos/#zchLRxxm8yeAtXsO.99
This group has made some attempts to offer sacrifices in the past, but has often ran into political opposition. Israeli courts have generally agreed that Jews have the right to perform animal sacrifices, but have repeatedly denied this right as the timing would have excessively negative consequences. And to rebuild a temple in the area that the Muslims consider sacred would be even more problematic politically–especially at this instant. Yet, because the Muslims have a strong presence at the site of the old Temple Mount (Har HaBayit) with their al-Aqsa Mosque, some consider the actual construction of a Jewish temple there to be impossible.
Though it may well take a war, peace deal, and/or political gridlock for that to happen.
But it will come to pass. The Sanhedrin wants it (watch also Sanhedrin pushing animal sacrifices). In late 2016, they appointed Rabbi Baruch Kahane as the next Kohen Gadol–high priest (see Reconstituted Sanhedrin names high priest in preparation for the restoration of sacrifices; to begin as early as the Day of Atonement?). More on the Sanhedrin can be found in the article Nascent Sanhedrin structure and high priest: The plan is to start animal sacrifices–this would fulfill prophecy!
Furthermore, perhaps it should be realized that the government of Israel does have a certain amount of respect for Yisrael Ariel, the founder of the Temple Institute. Yisrael Ariel is also a member of the “Re-established Sanhedrin.” Actually, the Israeli government announced that Yisrael Ariel was winner of the Yaakov Egerst Memorial Award for Jewish Culture by the Ministry of Education for some of his work (Rabbi Yisrael Ariel to Receive the Jewish Culture Award for 5769. Israel National News. Oct 7, 2008).
As far as other ‘obstacles’ to taking actions, the Temple Institute (whose leader is a member of the Nascent Sanhedrin) already said that it has some possible ‘red heifers’ (see ‘Red Heifers could be ready for the Temple by Passover’ or Pentecost?) needed for cleansing (cf. Numbers 19:1-10) that some believe is necessary for animal sacrifices to resume.
It also has a moveable altar of unhewn (cf. Deuteronomy 27:5-6) stones (see Temple Institute Completes Altar of Unhewn Stones) as well as implements needed to perform the sacrifices (some of which I personally saw in October 2013).
And since the high priest is not the only one that would be authorized to perform daily sacrifices, the Temple Institute announced in August 2016 that it had established a school to train others in the ways of being Levitical priests (see ‘Temple Institute Announces School to Train Levitical Priests’)–it basically thinks it is read–but intends to continue with more regular training.
The Sanhedrin and the Temple institute keep taking steps aligning with properly understood end time biblical prophecies about this (see the 2020 post, BIN: Jerusalem School Trains Priests to Perform Temple Rituals in Anticipation of 3rd Temple). Biblical prophecies will come to pass (2 Peter 1:19).
For formal clarification of the position of Jewish leaders, I contacted the reconstituted Sanhedrin many years ago and asked why it felt that sacrifices could be started before a temple is rebuilt.
The response I received was:
Rabbi Yeshayahu Hollander wrote:
Translation:
Hichot Maasei HaKorbanot [The Procedures of Offering Sacrifices]
Chapter 19
Paragraph 17:
He who slaughters a Sacrifice in this period [when we have no Temple], and offered the sacrifice outside the Azara [the alloted area of the Temple] – is culpable, because the offering must be performed in the Azara, SINCE IT IS PERMITTED TO PERFORM SACRIFICES despite having no Temple, since the sanctity of the Temple is eternal.
Paragraph 18:
He who slaughters the sacrifice of a gentile outside the Azara is culpable, as is one who performs the offering. NON JEWS are permitted to offer burnt-offerings anywhere, on an alkter which they built. Jews may not help them in the performance of this sacrifice, since Jews may not offer sacrifices outside the Azara. But we may instruct them and teach them how to perform sacrificesto the ASlmighty God, Blessed be He.
Additionally, it is worth noting that on 5766, Rabbi Benyamin Fuss published a 445 page book on Sacrifices of non-jews, of which the text proper is of 372 pages [the rest are indices, etc.] called Torat Habamah: Regarding sacrifices on an Altar outside the Temple. (Email from the Sanhedrin webmaster Abrahamson to Bob Thiel September 17, 2008).
So, the Sanhedrin clearly believed it did not need a third temple to sacrifice.
Rabbi Yeshayahu Hollander was the English language spokesman for the nascent Sanhedrin.
The webmaster of the Sanhedrin added the following in a subsequent email to me:
This quote comes from Maimonides’ (Rambam) work the Mishneh Torah.
The nascent Sanhedrin sees itself as the continuation of rabbinic jurisprudence, and must take into account all halachic works written to date, and proceed from there. (Email from the Sanhedrin webmaster Abrahamson to Bob Thiel September 17, 2008).
Therefore, it appears to be a longstanding position of some Jewish scholars that Jewish sacrifices can be started on an altar and, as long as it is in the area of the old temple, that a physical temple is not first required.
This is consistent with Ezra’s previously quoted practice.
Furthermore, in a case heard in 2010 by the Supreme Court in Israel concerning the sacrifices, there was the following report:
The organizers also demanded to be allowed to celebrate this coming Passover holiday on the site of the Holy Temple by offering the Paschal sacrifice. They noted that according to Jewish Law, the Holy Temple does not need to be built in order to resume the sacrificial offerings. They emphasized accordingly that the Temple Mount organizations are not trying to change or make modifications to any existing structures on the Mount, but rather aim to receive permission to build a temporary altar, which would be dismantled immediately following the Passover Offering. (Fendel H. Supreme Court: No Passover Sacrifice Again This Year. IsraelNN.com, March 24, 2010. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/136699)
Although the court ruled against allowing this THEN on current political grounds, the point is that there are many Jews are willing to resume the sacrifices without a temple being built or the Temple Mount at all modified.
And while the Temple Institute itself wants to sacrifice a red heifer first, it claims it has four candidates that are thriving (see Red heifers healthy and thriving–possible sacrifice in April 2024?)–and some there hope to sacrifice one later this Spring (see ‘Red Heifers could be ready for the Temple by Passover’ or Pentecost?).
Because Hamas knows this, it claims that was one of the reasons for their October 7th attack against Israelis (see I365: Hamas Spokesman: Oct 7 attack launched to stop the red heifers).
But no one, Israeli or Hamas or anyone, will be able to stop biblical prophecies from being fulfilled.
While the Bible does not prophesy the need for another red heifer as the New Testament says they are not needed for Christian redemption per Hebrews 9:13-15, biblically, we know that the sacrifices will be re-implemented by certain Jews as the prophet Daniel was inspired to numerous times that they would be stopped:
9 And out of one of them came a little horn which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the Glorious Land. 10 And it grew up to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and some of the stars to the ground, and trampled them. 11 He even exalted himself as high as the Prince of the host; and by him the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of His sanctuary was cast down. 12 Because of transgression, an army was given over to the horn to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he cast truth down to the ground. He did all this and prospered.
13 Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who was speaking, “How long will the vision be, concerning the daily sacrifices and the transgression of desolation, the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled underfoot?”
14 And he said to me, “For two thousand three hundred days; then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.”  (Daniel 8:9-14)
27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering … (Daniel 9:27)
31 And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation. (Daniel 11:31)
11 “And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.  (Daniel 12:11)
So, we see that after a deal is made, 3 1/2 years later, sacrifices will be stopped. By who? Well, the “he” above was called a “prince” in Daniel 9:26. He will become the King of the North Beast leader as discussed in Daniel 11:31, 40 and his forces will place an abomination when the sacrifices are stopped (Daniel 11:31). That placement is something that Jesus pointed to as a sign of the end in Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14.  Since Daniel shows that those that wait the 1335 days are then blessed–this looks to be a reference to Jesus returning and establishing the Kingdom of God a little less than four years after the daily sacrifices are stopped by the Beast!
Since the sacrifices will be stopped they must first start. And that is something that the Temple Institute and Sanhedrin are working towards.
As Jesus said:
35 Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming — in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning — 36 lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” (Mark 13:35-37)
The animal sacrifice situation is one of the events we in the Continuing Church of God are watching for.

We all need to watch and pray as Jesus said in Luke 21:36 and grow in grace and knowledge and as the Apostle Paul wrote:
25  … exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.  (Hebrews 10:25)
That day is approaching more and more.

Worthy Brief - October 7, 2022
Celebrate!
Leviticus 25:8-10 'Count off seven sabbath years -- seven times seven years -- so that the seven sabbath years amount to a period of forty-nine years. Then have the trumpet sounded everywhere on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement sound the trumpet throughout your land. Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each of you is to return to your family property and to your own clan.
As we conclude the observance of Yom Kippur, I'd like to share another interesting observation. While it is a day on which adults are afflicting themselves by fasting, abstaining from all pleasures, and repenting. However, for the children, Yom Kippur is a very different holiday. This day is my son Obi's favorite holiday! Why? Because the kids are not fasting or recalling their sins or suffering at all – they are celebrating freedom!
On Yom Kippur in Israel, TV and radio stations are shut down and the children are playing jubilantly outdoors with absolutely no vehicles on any road. Everywhere you look kids are freewheeling on bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, and bare feet, with no restraint. The children are truly free on Yom Kippur. And unbeknownst to them, they are typifying a prophetic event that occurs only once every 50 years, on Yom Kippur.
Every 50th year, in this cycle, called the Yovel or Jubilee, freedom is proclaimed! All things are returned to their rightful owners – all debts are forgiven – and the entire year is a great celebration of freedom, restoration and joy. And the kids, without realizing it, are celebrating jubilee every year.
Prophetically, Yovel or Jubilee speaks of the Lord's return to establish His Millennial Kingdom, during which time the world will experience a peace and rest unknown since the fall of mankind. This will be the restoration of all things [Acts 3:21], a time of tremendous joy and true freedom during the reign of our Messiah King.
But take note that the atonement precedes the Jubilee, and without the atonement no one comes to the freedom, rest, and joy of the Yovel. The atonement provides our forgiveness of sins. Sin is slavery. Liberty and joy require forgiveness and restoration. Only through atonement can we truly celebrate liberty!
This day, every day, can be your jubilee if as a child of God you celebrate His forgiveness, walk in freedom and rest with your sins forgiven by the atoning sacrifice of Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah. If and when you do, you are a living prophetic message to this world that the Lord's jubilee is coming!
Your family in the Lord with much agape love,
George, Baht Rivka, & Obadiah Chesterfield, South Carolina
