ISRO Set To Launch SSLV on Its Third Development Flight for Independence Day
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) plans to launch the Earth Observation Satellite-08 (EOS-08) using the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV)-D3 on Independence Day, August 15, at 9:17 a.m.

The launch will occur from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. EOS-08 is intended to improve environmental monitoring, and disaster management, and assist with the Gaganyaan mission.
ISRO states, “It will complete the SSLV development project and support operational missions by Indian industry and NSIL.”
The satellite consists of three main payloads: the Electro-Optical Infrared Payload (EOIR), the Global Navigation Satellite System-Reflectometry payload (GNSS-R), and the SiC UV Dosimeter.

ISRO made this announcement during the early hours of Tuesday (September 5), marking a crucial step in the mission's progress. The manoeuvre, known as the "second Earth-bound manoeuvre (EBN#2)," was executed by ISRO's Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Network (ISTRAC) located in Bengaluru. The operation was closely monitored by ISRO's ground stations in Mauritius, Bengaluru, and Port Blair. The mission's initial earth-bound manoeuvre was successfully executed on September 3. The spacecraft is anticipated to undergo two more earth-bound orbital manoeuvres before it is transferred to its final destination, the Lagrange point L1. What Exactly is INSAT-3DS? ISRO’s Upcoming Weather Satellite Launch
India is all set to strengthen its meteorological surveillance capabilities through the deployment of INSAT-3DS, a state-of-the-art weather satellite crafted by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Scheduled to launch in February atop the GSLV-F14 rocket, this state-of-the-art satellite is poised to play a crucial role in weather prediction and disaster preparedness.
The satellite has been transported to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre for integration with the rocket, in preparation for its launch from Sriharikota.
INSAT-3DS is crafted as the next iteration following the currently operational in-orbit satellites, INSAT-3D and INSAT-3DR. Its primary objective is to ensure continuous services and markedly enhance the overall functionalities of the INSAT system.
INSAT, stands for the Indian National Satellite System, offers a range of services including telecommunications, broadcasting, meteorology, as well as search and rescue operations.
Following the successful assembly, integration, and testing at the U R Rao Satellite Centre in Bengaluru, the INSAT-3DS satellite was recently dispatched to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR in Sriharikota on January 25th.
This collaborative mission, in collaboration with the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), is funded by users and highlights the significant contributions of Indian industries to its development.
