Does anyone else remember Scaler: The Shapeshifting Chameleon or was it just a fever dream from my childhood? That game was trippy AF!

Chimerum

First level. Nice place.

Repbaldactyls live here. You can see them in the sky.

What the heck is in those huge eggs in upper right? No idea. Circular floating platforms above the water move in a circular motion. The have what looks like roots underneath, so maybe they are plants?

Vine

Floaty rocks that break if you stay on it too long.

Cool plants

Little waterfall

Spiky thing. Probably plant.

Splodey fruit explodes when you touch it. Probably wants a nice corpse for its seeds to grow in.

Containers that open briefly with a puff when you step on the green thing. Contain vitaloids, klokkies, or an energy sphere. Yeah. I'm at a loss for how to spec bio this. Biotech appliances just out in the wilderness for some reason?

Zarpac

The zarpac is a swift predator that attacks with sharp claws. And often a leaping pounce. It is capable of both bipedal and quadrupedal movement. The purpose of its large hood is unknown. When it hasn't noticed you yet it can be seen moving quadrupedally and sniffing around.

Golem

Big enemy. Makes weird squawking noises and hits you with big hands. Weird clumsy movement.

Only found in the first level Chimerum. Its an enemy that attacks you, but it gives me herbivore vibes. Its hands and long arms look like they would be good for reaching up for high vegetation. And big bright red claws and hands bring attention to the fact that anyone not respecting its personal space might get eviscerated. Also herbivores tend to have bigger bellies. Angler fish head structure is probably for display.

Gas Lizard

A lizard man that can spew poison breath. Also can grab you and hits with its fist. Growls and beats chest like a gorilla. Can block claw strikes by putting its arm in front of its face.

Interesting that the inside of its mouth is white. Perhaps it could be a final warning signal right before it uses the poison. (It gives no warning in game in this way, but I am free to take some creative liberty for its spec.) The growling and chest beating may also serve as a warning. It might see members of Scaler's species as rivals that need to be intimidated away, and hit or poison blasted if they don't get the message. Since one of the big bad lizard guys also has poison breath, I believe at one point in the past the ancestors of these and the ancestors of the sapient lizard species were able to interbreed and the sapient lizard species still have some of their genes.

Splodey toads

The one on the left just walks towards you and explodes on contact. The one on the right jumps at you while screeching. The left one, if you attack it with a tongue attack, after losing its explosive orb, it will flee. When one succeeds in reaching you, it explodes.

Exploding enemies are not the best for spec bio, so for mine, it does not explode and die. The lumpy bit is not a part of its body. It is a growth. It is to make it harder to eat. These often rest by digging and sitting in a hole, with the growth sticking out. If disturbed, the left species will advance towards the predator to try to warn it off. If the predator does not leave, it will hit the predator with the growth, releasing the exploding magic within; harming the predator. Its tough skin protects it from its own explosion. The right species will make a noise when disturbed. If not left alone, they screech and jump at the predator, potentially hitting it with the explosion bit. Then the toad will scurry away.

Screepie

Screepies are creatures that hunt in small groups. They have a sharp under bite they will attack you with before hopping a short distance away before going at you again. They have a swirly bit on their head. Is it sensory, or is it a vestigial illicium(angler fish lure line)?

Surp bird boggles

Surp birds, presumably short for surprise birds, or as I like to call them, Boggles, because look at the eyes. These hover about near the orange spiky plants holding big orbs. If they are pushed against the spikes, the orb will pop, releasing klokkies.

I've shrunk down the size of the orbs for the spec. The males take care of the eggs wrapped in a cocoon of leaves with klokkies, to give them a magic boost when they hatch. The often nest in groves of the spiky plants, preventing a lot of predators from getting them. The fins on its back help camouflage. The spikes can still be hazardous to them if they are not careful. He can grab the egg sac and fly away in an emergency.

Platform guy

Moves you to another location in the first level. Not an enemy. A helper.

Dude has not only used levitation/anti gravity magic to float, but also to support a massive display crest. Probably has all manner of things living on its surface. Lets bigger things ride on it and clean it of pests.
