I finished “The Librarians”, y’all. What do I do now? 😱

Maybe it’s time for a “Leverage” rewatch. That show is perfection.

A few thoughts first:

1. I weirdly enjoyed the shorter seasons. I felt like the show was more focused.

2. Jenkins. I just adored him. It is by far my favorite role with John Larroquette. The scene where he’s a D&D Dungeon Master was a thing of beauty.

3. I love Eve’s maternal vibes.

4. Love love loved Ezekiel’s character development. The looper episode broke me.

5. The ships, but also… not? I totally ship Jacob and Cassandra, but also Jenkins and Cassandra, and yet… I really liked how they just… were. I love a good platonic relationship just as much.

6. Judson and Charlene.

7. The series finale. I don’t know if they knew the show was ending or not, but this was one of the best series finales I have ever seen. Just beautiful.

I told my husband this show gave me “SeaQuest” vibes: a great cast of characters, episodes that almost always ended on a happy note, and just a feel good vibe when I watched it. A great comfort show. I adore “Leverage”, too, so it was meant to be.

If you haven’t seen “The Librarians” it is currently streaming on Freevee. I will definitely be purchasing this one.

My first thought on "The Hidden Daffodil" is someone finding a leftover killer daffodil the Master left lying around. For some reason it's still active without a Nestene presence... unless there is a hidden Nestene presence that's somehow failed to show up on anyone's sensors.

"Death of the Stuffed Goose" gives me Douglas Adams vibes. I think it's a Four/Romana panto set at a Victorian Christmas dinner, probably with a murder mystery element.

"The Voltaic Leviathan" OH MY GOD that's brilliant. With a title like that, it's somewhere in the 7-8 era. Obviously someone is using a deep-sea monster as a power source, but is it a case of animal cruelty, or a vicious monster being drained of power to prevent it from causing a catastrophe, or something else altogether? And what about the power itself... is it really voltaic, or something less explainable? Jules Verne meets SeaQuest DSV, lots of eldritch sea creatures, a hint of PETA politics, base under siege...

Welp. I guess I'm writing that last one at least.

Its interesting comparing La Brea and seaQuest

Because they are both trying hard to emulate other shows

seaQuest is clearly so inspired by Star Trek. It wants the Star Trek vibe of science fiction and discovery but also being part of an organisation that is charged with peacekeeping and has a military presence

But at the same time it manages to be its own thing. It takes the exploration and grounds it in our world. Our planet and the deep seas. There are characters that fit certain stereotypes but they are also different. Lucas and Wesley Crusher are very different characters even if they fit in the same boy genius character type. And the Captain's are different as well and have different backstories

You can clearly see the inspiration but it has enough grounding as it's own concept (at least at the start) and I care about the characters and by the end of the episode knew a few names.

Whereas La Brea wants to be Lost. But it has no confidence or belief in its own unique concept to carry it. They even have a character in the first episode comment that it feels like they're in an episode of Lost.

The acting and the characters feel flat and undeveloped. I still could not name more than one character on that show and I've watched 3 episodes. I don't care about them or their problems and kinda wanna see them die because it would be funny because they are all basically paper dolls of characters.

It's just so boring in comparison
