Here we have a Luts Senior Delf Karis in real skin white. The client had asked for some specific elements (red dots at the lip corners and under the eyes, white eyelashes, and little fang on the left side to name a few)m but gave me more freedom for the reflective and shiny elements. They did provide references for the feel of the Faceup, which ended up being a lot of fun, though I did go nearly cross eyed from painting all the interference type detailing!

I took some pics of Zelda outside yesterday!

I've been meaning to take snow pics for ages but I just really didn't have the motivation for it.. honestly taking snow pics takes a lot of energy, everything is cold and wet and I can't walk to all the places I'd want to because there's a meter deep snow in the way!!

Elena is a Luts Muse Bory in real skin brown, and she has a company faceup. August is an Aimerai Akagi (the first one ever made - he was literally the display doll!) and he’s in white skin with a company faceup as well.

I had Senior Delf Niya but I wasn't happy with the body she was on plus she had other issues.

Aleph in Boden. These are boy’s size 4. The pants are baggy, but fit in the leg; drawstring waist makes them workable, but only just. Casual wear only. The top fits in the shoulders but is generally very roomy, very Darcy coming out of the lake. Which is not a bad thing, per se. I will try a size 3 for the top next time. 

Note that unlike me, Aleph can enjoy espresso after lunch.

I forgot to upload my corny Christmas pics here in a timely manner but here they are. These were taken with my new camera/lens (Nikon Zfc + Nikkor DX 50-250 which is a huge improvement over the D3300 I was using before, especially in terms of low light shooting and being able to focus on both dolls at once instead of one getting blurry. It also has much more accurate colours so I haven’t had to do as many edits (the d3300 tends to make all my resin dolls look waaaay more yellow than they actually are IRL for some reason). I’m really glad I got it.

Is this standard or a mod?

My doll fell apart. That's a new one for me.

Luts Senior Delf Type 5 female body with heel legs. I'm just carrying the doll from one room to the next, and the leg falls off.

I look at the other leg, expecting it to join its sister below, and... nothing happens. That's weird. Pull on her head, cuz that should be loose now, and nope - still firmly attached. (I think there might be one piece of elastic from her head to her left leg?)

So I look inside her hip joint, and WTF is this?

That's a mod, right? Luts doesn't put hex nuts inside their dolls, correct?

Like, is there supposed to be a hole behind that thing? Like Iplehouse and their string the legs between the crotch thing?

Any Luts owners care to opine? Please?

I’d like to get a resin doll for my collection someday, and I currently have my eye on Luts’ “Juniper” model.

I’m going to get her with the wig and eyes she has in her promo photos, given that I fell in love with her at first sight. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like they have the “Empire” set she’s shown wearing here in stock.

I do think she’d look stunning in some of the black formal dress sets Luts has in their store. Her red wig and blue eyes would really pop against a black outfit, so I’ve got my eye on the black version of the “La Grenadine” set. I’d like to get her a formal black dress and something else a little more casual, but once Luts has more suits for their Senior Delf line in stock I’d also like to find her some more masculine formalwear sets like her “Empire” suit, too.

I really like her faceup because while she’s still “cute” because of her big eyes, her dark lipstick gives her a more mature, sophisticated look than some of the other Senior Delf gals. I also like face sculpts that give a doll a little more unique personality than the popular wide-eyed ingenue look you see on a lot of higher-end bjds. I’m a big fan of the slight smirk playing on Juniper’s lips. It gives her this air of knowing something you don’t, but with a sense of witty playfulness instead of arrogance or malice. Juniper also has a bigger, longer nose than the button noses I usually see on more feminine bjds, making her stand out a lot more in profile.

Luts has some really pretty “mature” face sculpts for both their masculine & feminine dolls, especially the gals in their Senior65 line and the guys in their Super and Royal Senior lines, and it’s nice to see dolls that look like adult women who aren’t Barbie or her various imitators or weird ad listings on Amazon.

I’d like to get some wigs of varying length in the same “Velvet Red” color as her promo pic wig to give her other looks along the feminine/masculine spectrum. Her lipstick + a short wig with tousled bangs and a suit would make for a wonderfully polished formal futch look, and a shoulder-length wig with bangs would look amazing with the beret for the casual outfit set that I’m considering getting for her.

The Big One

When Luts released their new Royal Delf series, I had the weirdest feeling: like the Lady of Shalott, my doom had come upon me. 

This is Aleph, a Royal Senior Delf Mars. He is 41 inches tall: House Brownie size. 

Other collectors have reported a sensation of shock when interacting with Royal Delfs; it is understandable. They are heavy--at least 15 lbs at a rough guess--and the joints require a specific firm-but-gentle touch. They assert themselves in space. They dwarf other dolls. 

This Giant Man feels completely natural in my space. Sure, he's tall. So? 

Look at this face. Mars is such a wonderful evolution of the Luts Delf style; he shares DNA with the great old originals like Chiwoo, Shiwoo, and El. 

I've ordered a Barbour wool sweater for this gentleman (a child's size, obtained on clearance), and I think with a little strategic shrinking it will fit nicely.
