This Sprouting Dragon Zilu in Mia pink skin was an interesting challenge due to her sculpted eyelashes. Naturally she was given lots of cute freckles! She is one of my wife's dolls, which means I could get an owner picture right away.

Isn't she pretty? My wife ordered the resin wig with her, but it didn't have enough magnets installed (only like 6 out of 12), so I bought some myself and filled in the remaining slots. The resin wig is still very precarious, but it's cute at least!

This faceup is on a Dollzone Little Snow in 1/6 in purple skin. Part of my personal collection.

She was a mini grail for me, specifically because I wanted her in purple, and I got her in February directly from Dollzone in stock through New-Clover-Singing, but with a lot of undisclosed issues, such as heavy and uneven fading (the head is faded to a pale grey-purple due to light exposure...) and being on a boy body when standard Little Snow is on a girl body.

It also turned out that she was a display model at Dollzone for the past 2 years. I bought her under the presumption that she was in like-new condition as I paid like-new pricing. In the end I got a partial refund and he became a she through the help of a small rotary tool and sand paper...

In the pictures above you can see the stark color differences between body and head. No matter, once it was determined I could keep the doll after accepting the partial refund, I corrected the color mismatch with the faceup.

I just painted her in February, and I already want to repaint her, soon I think... such is the life of an indecisive doll collector.

Finally finished this Dream Valley Cedar in white skin, along with his plethora of fantasy parts and the Wand of Deer God as well.

This commission was a huge undertaking, mostly using pastels to blush and paint this boy. I'm still learning to airbrush, and only utilized it on the staff. But even then I used a brush at the end to correct the light patches.

My last completed faceup commission of 2024 was this lovely Akhmel Dolls Tomoe in anthracite skin, and a dream come true! I've always wanted to work on an Akhmel Dolls since I've seen the first ones years ago.

I'm so glad I got commissioned for painting one, he took layers upon layers of shimmer to really shine. The photos do not do him justice, so have a video:

I just think he's a really cool doll. Gave me half a heart attack though when I tried to put the head back on and the s-hook slipped into the neck partially. I was trying to use a paperclip to pull it up, but it was too flimsy and unbent. Luckily no damages!

WIPs... WIPs as far as the eyes can see!

I have finally gotten my energy back enough that I can both draw and work on doll stuff in the same day, so let me drop some WIPs from the weekend here!

First I got this big commission well along! He's got eyelashes applied now, and I got a solid start on his body and fantasy parts blushing! You can also see his wig in the background.

Then this gal is a Sprouting Dragon Zilu sleeping head with sculpted eyelashes. Yes, she is the matching sleeping head to the last Sprouting Dragon Zilu I painted for my wife. She only needs to be sealed still.

And this cutie is a Gem of Doll Nymph, who is getting a natural and happy faceup. She's still got a long way to go before I am done with her. I also need to prep her 2 pairs of hands and feet to blush as well!

I'll finish this post with this SIO2 Bleater sheep who's been on my work desk a while, but I am continuing on her and her pastel theme finally. It feels good to be productive again!

In honor of 2024 being the year of the dragon in the Chinese zodiac, it felt appropriate to repaint my own noodle dragon girl Dollzone Po in white skin. I had absolutely hated the previous Faceup I’d put on her for many reasons, so I was happy to redo her. Also who can resist shimmer freckles?

The new Faceup is much much cuter in my opinion. I opted for no applied eyelashes this time because her eyes are just so dang small!

The redo was prompted by her new wig, which was the first wig I’d ever sewn like this. The part is messy, but acceptable to me and not bad for my first time working with sewn wefts!

I finally convinced myself to repaint my Mystic Kids Miri in (mellowed) normal pink skin. She’s an old gal, I’ve had her since 2013, maybe 2014, I think?

Let’s compare the Faceup to her old one:

Her new Faceup turned out much brighter than her previous. It bothered me for years now that her eye detailing didn’t match her wig as she’d been wearing a dark blue wig forever years.

Today I am sharing the faceup on my Dream Valley Vanora and her big lop bunny ears in light tan. I knew I wanted a fantasy type faceup for her as she's a big ol' bunny-legged doll, so lots of shimmer and shimmery details were a must.

I even took a video of the subtle but pretty detailing on her:

Please excuse the cat hair along her right eye, I didn't notice it til later, but it doesn't take away from the detailing. Since she is one of my own, I instantly can share an owner pic as well!

Yes, she has two wigs because I cannot make up my mind. She even has a third, a pale grey one, that I put on her upon arrival while I waited for these two wigs to arrive...

Now here is a Soom SG Obsidius in grey skin from the "Ode, and der Abgrund" release with his multitude of archangel wings in white resin. The wings are super shiny and sparkly, but it's not visible at all in photos. Luckily I have a video showing them off!

All the blushing was done with pastels, my poor desk was purple for almost two weeks of blushing these monstrous wings. But I do have to say, they turned out nice!

And of course the faceup has a video too, but Tumblr only allows one video per post and the wings are more impressive!

This was such a fun Faceup to do on a Fairyland Feeple60 Mirwennin natural skin. And yes, the teeth glow in the dark! I entirely forgot to do a before photo of this commission as she looks worlds different.

Today I want to show this labor intensive but very cute commission paint job on a BonBon Galaxy Killer Whale in white. I’m really pleased with how she turned out, especially the eyes!

This paint job is primarily done with acrylics, I only used minimal pastel blushing on the face and the body.

I also painted another faceplate, for the Bone Fish version to be a cat fish

I think the hearts in the eyes are cute!

Now this Dollzone Chun commission took a while to complete as he was very intense task-wise! He got a faceup, body blushing, tattoos, fantasy parts blushing, manicure, and a modification.

The tattoo on the face is a nailart sticker provided by the client.

The antlers were originally strung on, so I modded them to magnetic instead. But then I ran into the issue of the wig being too thick and the antlers not holding, so I added a billion more magnets. It paid off though!

Just look at that hold! I could wiggle the head upside down and the horns stayed in place.
