recently been so obsessed with cockatiels like. I want one so bad but i also dont cuz my current living condition/schedule is just not right for one at all.

It's like babay fever except for birds?? i want a little pickachu living with me aauuuhh

obviously once i have obtained a little guy i will proceed to do the two most important things that all new cockatiel owners must do:

teach them how to sing septembirb

teach them how to sing the cookie song

The Sparkling violetear hummingbird (Colibri coruscans) is the 7th #septembirb . This large hummingbird can be found in almost anywhere except thick forests throughout it's range in Northern Venezuela to North western Argentina to Northern Brazil. Septembirb Day 4

And Septembirb continues! Sorry about the bad quality on this one. I’m thinking at the end of each week I’ll make a post with all of that week’s pictures, so if I do I’ll add a better one.

Today’s prompt was Eurypygimorphae! This is one of those ones that I had to step back to the clade, because the orders were so narrow. The clade has a whopping six extant species! Three tropicbirds, two kagu, and the sunbittern.

Let’s get two things straight here:

1) I love the sunbittern. Seriously. It’s up there on my list with magpies and frogmouths. That being said...

2) I never draw coastal birds. Something about them baffles me, and I don’t know what it is. They look too...smooth? I don’t know.

Basically, because this is an art challenge, I ended up choosing the red-billed tropicbird over the sunbittern. It’s...it’s a good first attempt, how about that? The head is solid, and I like the wings overall. The feathers have just enough detail to them to create form and texture, but not so much that it looks overworked. However, I feel like I got the shape wrong, which really detracts from the streamline shape of those wings. Same with the tail, and the barring leaves something to be desired.

A good first attempt. I will go with that.
