I've been meaning to post this since the unveiling of the "By Any Means" poster. @jermanigault and I became familiar with each other after I completed the poster for @dedzafilms first collection of shorts showcasing emerging filmmakers called, "Who Will Start Another Fire". Jermaine Manigualt is a director whose film, "Not Black Enough" was featured in the collection. He and his team showed so much appreciation for the poster I made. I was mentioned and tagged in so many posts. Jermaine is also a recipient of the City Artist Corps grant, and he wanted to bring me into his project, "By Any Means". When he reached out to me I was completing my residency @chanorthartresidency. Even though I was very interested in working with him, my schedule was tight. I was also working on another commission. When Jermaine showed me this conversation between him and his friend, it confirmed for me that I will absolutely work with him. I don't believe in coincidences. Instead I have faith in serendipitous encounters. And where there is choice, there is freedom. ~ Gabriella Goddard I don’t always post pictures of myself but this was too good of a memory to not post. Land surveying turned out to be a 5 hour expedition off into the route less travelled. The trek started with a jungle trek in the middle of Kathu waterfall, Phuket, Thailand. Following the sound of the flowing water, we finally made it to the touristy side of the waterfall. We kept going against the grain of the water and kept climbing up, up,up. During our time there, we saw 3 different bat caves (we actually went into one to cut to the other side of the waterfall), poisonous snakes, a shit load of spiders and even freshwater red crab. #serendipitousencounters (at Kathu Waterfall)
