Silver Spooning Your Child? Watch This...
I have two boys. Brian is 33 and I have a 24 year old. So I make them work. I make them work hard. I make them start at the bottom. When Brian started with me years ago, when he graduated from Penn State, I actually wouldn't bring him into the family business. I said, you need to go out in the world because you come into the family business. You're going to be thinking, you come in, put your feet up on the table and hey, my dad's the owner and you know, I get to hang out here. It's like no, you go out.
Learn how the world works. Spend a year at least doing that. And he went to work for Sprint and was in corporate sales and I said, so what do you know after he went to a training program. I said, what are you doing today? Oh well, they came, they brought out the yellow pages and said, okay. Brian, today you call on car dealers, tomorrow you're going to call on beauty salons. It's like cold calling, right? So he got his ass handed to him for a year in a corporate environment and realized life's tough. It's not easy you get up every single day and they are on you for eight hours a day.
How many contacts, how many sales, how many this and so finally he said, can I interview in the family business and he came in and he did and he started at the very bottom. He started in the grunt positions. And you know, in product development, finding products going to trade shows, searching through catalogs etc. you know, watching the shopping channels and then as we moved him along, he got involved in all aspects of the business. He had a stint in the production side, helping produce the infomercials. And the writing side, and the operation side and product development. But at the end of all of that, after a few years, he was running As Seen On TV.com, which was one of our assets. The website As Seen On TV and so make a long story short, I have you know, the kids I haven't shared the wealth with them.
I'm making them work for it. But what I am doing is this, I end up part of my business model is working with public companies and all of that. So I'm involved with about 35 companies that I've invested in or I sit on the board and some of you know, a nice piece of those are public. So when I get stock in a public company, I now am allocating shares to certainly Brian, who's involved in these relationships and then my other son also, and now I'm letting them get in on the ground floor of some of these opportunities. I am letting them invest in some of these opportunities, if they want. And I'll help them in in some of these cases, but it's they really have to be they're self-starters and they're out there doing it. Every step of the way, the same way I did. There's no big heap of money at the end of the rainbow sitting there for them now. That's when I die, but let's not talk about that.

Should You Be Friends With Your Employees?
So we've got um a lot of people who uh make great leaders but are not great managers and a lot of people that are great managers that are not great people. I think I could tell you the biggest mistake and this is like the biggest tell that somebody is an amateur manager, is when they try to be friends with their employees. That's like the kiss of death. When you know, we in back you know, I invented the Vapir vaporizer, the forerunner of all digital vaporization technology, all the vapes that you see and I remember we had hired a guy who's a super nice guy and this guy comes in first day and I'm just watching him and he did great in the interviews and then I'm watching him with the employees and he's just trying to make nice with everybody and I'm like okay, well, that's cool.
It's his first day and then by day two, he's like really trying to be friends. He's like buying him coffee and like you know, doing that stuff and I was like, man, I can time this one on my watch. This is not going to go well and sure enough he imploded and we had to get another guy but you can always tell because one of the things I you know, I tell people now that are in management positions is that you are not going to gain respect of your employees by them being your friends. They will, it will actually have the opposite effect, right?
They don't necessarily need to fear you, although in some cases that's not really a bad thing as long as it's not unreasonable fear. But they need to respect you and there's a big difference and they will appreciate you more if they respect you and that's what we teach. But it's a really easy way to catch a new manager and  one that's you know, one that's experienced is the one that's experienced will get in head down to the nose. He'll be reasonable, he'll be fair, he'll be compassionate, you know, he'll go out of his way to hear the employees, but by no means this dude having a tequila with them after work.

Having Patience - The Big Cats Way!
We talk about one of my good friends and author Stewart Wilde who wrote the Trick To Money is having some. Interesting fact. He would teach us back in the days when he would do this course called Money Mastery and his Hack and not his Hack, we're Hack And Grow Rich. He was The Trick To Money. When he would teach those seminars he would always tell us look, these periods go in an admin flow and what you want to do is make sure you have a thick stack of cash under your mattress. Just for the when the opportunities come and you'll have those opportunities. They will come but you have to be patient. And I was reminded of this and I think I talk about this in my book Billion: How I Became King of The Thrill Pill Cult, which is out now. By the way, you guys on amazon, so check it out.
You can get on audible now too. I was reminded of this when I was in the amazon rainforest and this was back before Ayahuasca was popular and I had been in this banana boat or whatever, those little boats are going down the amazon meeting with the tribe of cannibals. And I remember, we got out and the effects of the drugs started to hit me medicine and we saw a jaguar and you see the eyes light up in the forest and we realized, I realized in that moment that this animal, this beautiful, majestic, huge, powerful animal wasn't there for us. It was there for lunch and or dinner, as the case may be. It was hanging out in the forest and we must have sat there for two hours and this thing was very silent. Barely moved if you didn't see the gleam in his eyes from our flashlights on the boat.
You wouldn't really see this thing and then finally when the time was right, it pounced on some creature or something running around. It had its dinner. And I remember, the big lesson for me was patience was that you have to in life and I talk about this in my book. Stalk the object of your desires. Now I don't mean stalk in a weird like, stalker kind of way. What I mean is the way that that jaguar stalked its prey, you have to think of your goals, your objectives as prey and you have to have this patience. This patience of the jaguar of this amazing powerful creature. And a lot of that is is just waiting.
Okay, that was fun. If you liked what you saw, make sure to subscribe and like below. Make sure to leave us a comment and join the community.

Avoiding The Investor Accountability Trap
Yeah, distribution first is a key. One that we talked about. We had great distribution with vape here. The other one was if you can help it don't take investors. I was all excited about people wanting to invest in my company and putting money in my company and then I realized that oh dude I've got like 14. I've got to answer to now and that really was a difficult time for me and then when it came time to sell the company and have a nice exit and sell to another firm I realized that I was being held back by investors that couldn't agree. So that was another important lesson that was learned. I think those two are are kind of essential ones and the third one is I had great advice and counsel during the vapir times because I had all kinds of industry experts that came in and helped me with that technology.
People really in you know stoners in general wheatheads are like fanatic. They love it. They love you know they they really like are like a community and kind not the most motivated of people back in the day you know. I think now you know with cbd and all the stuff that's going on the money is there so you get a lot more motivated. People but back then you know stoners weren't very motivated but they were very kind and very generous and giving with their time and learnings as far as what we were building goes. So it really helps a lot to bring in mentors and people who can help you on that journey.

Amazon Aggregators #9 - Systematic Scale-Up Is Key To Grow Your Company
This is a series on how to hack and grow rich, make money online and how to overcome life and business/career issues.
▶ Video Transcript: I was 15 years old thinking I want to find wealth, fortune all the great things that America offers. Books were my friends. I read books by Napoleon Hill, books by Og Mandino, all the great old-time writers of that time. I read Tony Robbins and Wayne Dyer and all the personal development guys. This other guy named Stuart Wilde. I read his books and I thought, man, you know what? I'm I'm gonna leave home and I left home. I left and I was sleeping at that time in abandoned buildings or buildings that were under construction. Los Angeles was in a huge building boom at that time.
So I realized that I could get into these buildings late at night when the brokers weren't in there, wake up in the morning before they got there and I'd be out and I'd be living in luxury houses, maybe there wasn't electricity or water in those days in some of the places because they weren't built yet but it was a safe place to lay my head and subsequent to that I realized that there was a big electronic music scene. I had found a mentor, a guy who had agreed to take me under his wing and he was very familiar with the electronic music scene, the rave scene, the dance scene. So I got involved in that. I started throwing some clubs to make a little bit of extra money. I was still sleeping wherever I could lay my head and I remember that I would sleep behind the speakers, most people don't know this. In front of speakers, very loud, very hard to sleep. Behind speakers, super quiet and very warm. So I would sleep behind the speakers. I would wake up the club, would still be going on and I started looking around thinking how is the money being made in these places to realize only that it was by the drug dealers.
