Top 3 Qualities Needed To Accomplish Anything

The reason why I wrote the book is to help inspire people to know that you can do anything. Even if you don't have money, even if you don't have resources, there're really just three things that you need to have knowledge, courage, action. And I credit my friend Wayne. Wayne Boss, who shared that philosophy with me early on one of my mentors. And it's really about having those three qualities that anybody can capture and with having knowledge, courage, and action, you can accomplish anything. And I talk about that more in my book.

Rising Up After Life Knocks You Down

Yeah, one of my first martial arts teachers one of the things they taught me is that you're not going to die from a punch. Very unlikely. So one of the exercises that we did many years ago when I was a kid was actually we tied our hands behind our back and then the other our partner you know, because you pair up in martial arts our partner just got to punch us and we could not punch back. 

We could only bob and weave and duck and go back and you'd get hit you'd get hit and then it would be that person's turn and then they would get wearing gloves of course, but you learned that hey a punch is going to hurt, but it's not going to kill me. And so then when your hands are free you're like, oh man this is great and I'm not afraid of a punch when a punch is coming and life is like that too. You got to know that in business, in whatever you do, whatever endeavor you undertake you're going to get punched. It's going to happen. 

Life has a way I don't know anybody, who's lived life who hasn't been punched. It happens. Look at all the great people throughout history. Everybody gets punched. Everybody gets knocked down. It's how you get up, how you react to those situations and so what's that mean? It's about your internal state. It's about who you are inside and how you react to the stimulus being given to you. It's not about the stimulus that's bs. all the stuff is on the periphery. It's about how you interpret it and that's really what it's all about at the end of the day.

Is It Worth Buying Extended Warranties?

It's the second thing that you should do. When there aren't that many great deals? Like the dealers are working on very small margins. So when you buy a car tell people this, it used to be you walk in on a hundred thousand dollar car. You know, 20 grand worth of margin, you could negotiate maybe 10 grand worth of margin. Now they're talking hundreds of dollars, maybe of discounts on a hundred thousand dollar car, they might be like, hey, I'll give it to you for 99 980. If you're lucky, most of the dealers aren't even negotiating and then, do they make their money on the insurance policy? 

Especially the used car dealership. I had a friend of mine in Canada and she's like, I'm not sure if I need this and I go, I haven't seen it yet, but I'm pretty sure they're going to make about a thousand dollars. Out of that thousand dollars you pay them for that, third market insurance. Now I could be wrong but if they didn't have any customer service at the dealership, it was a third party I said, no, no, beware that's a really good money maker for the dealership. It's bad for you. It was like that. Did I give good advice to my friend? Yes. Never buy the warranties, if in life, you never buy extended warranties on anything. And I'll tell you the exception. The exception is a CPO, a certified pre-owned from the manufacturer. That's different. From the manufacturer, from the manufacturer, if Toyota, you can take it to any Toyota dealership, and they will fix it, then that's okay. 

If you could take it to any Porsche dealership and Porsche will fix it for free. That's called CPO, certified pre-owned and that's a policy from the manufacturer. And you can only get it if you buy the car from a dealer and I'm not talking about any car dealer. From the dealer of the manufacturer. So a Porsche Porsche dealer, a certified Porsche dealer. Then you can get that done. That policy is worthwhile. But other than that, never buy the extended warranties and you'll make out very well in life. Because the one or two times that something does break, it'll be covered. The second exception is cell phones or when a cell phone is new, for the first year it makes sense to pay for the replacement warranty. 

After the  first year, the depreciation on the phone makes the warranty not worthwhile. And you can cancel and sometimes they replace lost phones too and that's a really handy thing for phones. Speaking of warranties, you are an amazon expert, you make tons of money than that, I heard that most of their profit that and Best Buy is from the extended warranty that you see when you start to check out, so I buy lots of electronics, my studio. And there's some things like that was that was $20. Why would I spend 4.99 to cover a $20 investment? Is that also a waste of money? 

Yeah, so look. So we made a huge chunk of our money back in the days when I had the vaporizer on extended warranties. Now we had great margin on vaporizers. I mean I remember in the beginning they cost me 40 bucks. And we were selling it for $399 each but it was because we had a monopoly. Okay that was fun. Mastering Essential Skills To Achieve Pinnacle Of Success

▶ Video Transcript: I was 15 years old thinking I want to find wealth, fortune all the great things that America offers. Books were my friends. I read books by Napoleon Hill, books by Og Mandino, all the great old-time writers of that time. I read Tony Robbins and Wayne Dyer and all the personal development guys. This other guy named Stuart Wilde. I read his books and I thought, man, you know what? I'm I'm gonna leave home and I left home. I left and I was sleeping at that time in abandoned buildings or buildings that were under construction. Los Angeles was in a huge building boom at that time.

So I realized that I could get into these buildings late at night when the brokers weren't in there, wake up in the morning before they got there and I'd be out and I'd be living in luxury houses, maybe there wasn't electricity or water in those days in some of the places because they weren't built yet but it was a safe place to lay my head and subsequent to that I realized that there was a big electronic music scene. I had found a mentor, a guy who had agreed to take me under his wing and he was very familiar with the electronic music scene, the rave scene, the dance scene. So I got involved in that. I started throwing some clubs to make a little bit of extra money. I was still sleeping wherever I could lay my head and I remember that I would sleep behind the speakers, most people don't know this. In front of speakers, very loud, very hard to sleep. Behind speakers, super quiet and very warm. So I would sleep behind the speakers. I would wake up the club, would still be going on and I started looking around thinking how is the money being made in these places to realize only that it was by the drug dealers.
