On June 23, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot in a registered ceremony, followed by a grand star-studded bash in Mumbai and has been facing extensive wrath from netizens.

Their inter-faith marriage invited trouble from hardcore Hindu activists. The latter accused the actress of promoting ‘love jihad’ further asserting her hand in attempting ‘Islamify’ India. Furthermore, these activists from Bihar even went on to threaten the actress to refrain from entering the state. Posters put up across Patna by the Hindu Shivbhavani Sena threaten Sonakshi Sinha, stating they will not allow her entry into Bihar. While many of her fans came in support of her, an artist made a statement about ‘love is love’ and the actress couldn’t agree more about it!

Taking the concept of man and wife by recreating a frame-worthy moment from the reception bash of Sonakshi and Zaheer, the artist posted this caricature on his official social media handle with the caption, ‘Love Is Universal Religion’. Immediately reacting to the photo and the words, actress Sonakshi Sinha dropped a comment saying, “Truest words!! This is adorable (feeling loved emoji) thank you.” While the actress and her actor husband maintained silence over the flak they are receiving for their inter-faith marriage, this is the first time Sonakshi has reacted to a religion-based comment.

Sonakshi, Zaheer are officially wife and husband; scene shifts to all-night party

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are officially husband and wife, now that they have completed all the legal formalities related to a civil marriage.

The marriage, which was formalised at Sonakshi’s sprawling sea-facing, 26-floor apartment in Bandra West, was attended by friends and relatives from both sides, including her parents — Bollywood veteran and newly-elected Lok Sabha MP from Asansol, Shatrughan Sinha, and his wife, Poonam — and her close friend as well as ‘Double XL’ co-star Huma Qureshi.

The newly-weds posted their first pictures as husband and wife instantly after their intimate wedding. Taking to social media, the lovebirds dropped the first glimpses of their wedding looks.
