Whether you're in it for stories, research, or just memes, enjoy a more comprehensive search beyond the base filter options. Entries prior to Tarkir are having this functionality added as I work to reformat results images and descriptions.

Note: This content search is not currently available on the Mothership (the Magic website). After the November 2022 update, only titles are searched in the Article Archive.

After exactly ten years on this journey, it's time to say goodbye to Avatar News

Over the course of a decade from September 6th, 2013 to September 6th, 2023, Avatar News has gone from a little blog for keeping up with The Legend of Korra when it was airing, to a blessing that has changed my life, and, I hope, been a positive factor in the lives of the countless people who have crossed paths with it in the end.

From the smallest moments of connection in our Avatar News community that made my day, to the biggest exclusives that put me on the map, thank you for coming on this journey with me, whether you were a supporter or a hater, whether you were a casual fan or in the highest ranks of the cast and crew itself-- we all experienced this together.

A new chapter begins, and I have to leave Avatar News behind. Call it destiny, but I feel like it was meant to be that this came with the ten-year anniversary-- a finish line I never could have imagined on that day a decade ago.

And like the cycle of the seasons, the cycle of the Avatar began anew....

AWESOME GRAPHIX FOR AWESOME PEOPLE has been updated again! *What's new?*

Not a ton this time,sorry! -New graphics added. No more searching through tags, they're all here for now! (Though I forgot a few Sketchfab links, they're on the OG post) -Dogpark is now accessible through the main page! Yay! Pet those dogs! -Frodoverse is on the Digital Plane as an icon but is not accessible yet! (private!!! wip!!!!)

Submissions for the dogpark are always open! Just send your preferred user, name of 'dog', and a png (preferably yippee shaped or adjacent)

🚨 Closure Alert! 🚨

Our online store will be closed 4/17-4/18 as we audit our inventory & ordering schedule. Café & event service won't be interrupted, order fulfillment will continue, but you'll see a change to our model when we reopen the site on Saturday 4/19.

Teas will be restocked a few pounds at a time rather than an open availability model so we can more tightly control how much product we offer at a time, as restocks will be less certain with tariff futures and supply line disruption.

This new, temporary "restock model" will be explained in-depth in our newsletter this weekend, so be sure you're signed up!

I'm a bit late in talking about the update!

But!

Oh this is so interesting!!

Firstly, the effect of it all was so good! I feel like the previous update had everyone SO confused and then this one drops and it just CLICKS.

So the WHRP.. the Question-Answerer. They finally decided to try and talk to Wally! And they don't even care about explaining it or hiding it! They no longer care if We know. They might even know we know!

Anyways, they knocked on his door, gave him a call and BOY did he answer! Not only did he answer, but he sorta showed off!!

Some of them he did simply, such as writing Hello! And moving Barnaby!

But then he does this

And he even says "I didn't write it, I did something else"

The "Not only can I do this, but I can do more!" He is thinking creatively!

Wally is putting in the extra effort. Really not being subtle. He is so LOUD, basically screaming "Yes, this is me! I am here! I am the one doing this! Talk to me!"

But the instruction that makes me think the most is the SALLY one

I thought it meant to just flip the image! From left to right!

But! Wally has somehow conjured up an entirely NEW image! When you think about it, someone on the team drew or restored that image of Sally. Most likely, there was not a backside at all! Why would there need to be an illustration of that! Wally somehow made it happen! Very very interesting!

And then there is this, a little bonus, a little extra

Wally and Home. Sitting nicely together in the same... House?

I think most of us already think that there is a connection between the two of them. A deep connection.

Personally, I see the concept of Home as more of a general idea. Your Home, your upbringing, your family, your life! And what are you without these things? They made you who you are! If you were to separate yourself from the idea of Home, would you even know who you are?

And then there is the Eye. And it is under the same House. Wondering if this is saying "This and This are the same" "Wally and Home are both the Eyes" which feels like the more obvious statement.

But for me I see another connection. A Third. And it's You. The collective You. We are the audience, We are the Watchers and We have a connection to Wally through his eyes.

That connection is different and separated from the one between Wally and Home, but it is there! Under the same roof!

Ooh I honestly am so excited to see the WHRP's response to all of this! They have been answered! And so very obviously too!

Anyways! As usual, I pop in with my little thoughts! Clown and his team are always full of delightful surprises! I hope they get some well deserved rest and good treats!

Site Update - 2/9/2024

Hi Pillowfolks!

Today is the day. Post Queueing & Scheduling is finally here for everyone. Hooray! As always we will be monitoring closely for any unexpected bugs so please let us know if you run into any.

New Features/Improvements

✨ *NEW* Queue & Schedule - One of the most highly requested features has finally arrived at Pillowfort. Users can now effortlessly Queue or Schedule a post for a future time.  

Queue helps keep your Pillowfort active by staggering posts over a period of hours or days. Just go to your Settings page to set your queue interval and time period.

How to add a post to your queue: 

While creating a new post or editing a draft, click on the clock icon to the right of the “Publish” button and choose “Queue.” Then click “Queue” when you’re ready to submit the post.

Schedule assigns a post a specific publishing time in the future (based on your timezone you’ve selected in Account Settings). How to schedule a post: 

While creating a new post or editing a draft, click on the clock icon to the right of “Publish” and choose “Schedule.” Enter the time you wish to publish your post, click on “Submit” and then click “Schedule.” 

How to review your queued & scheduled posts: 

On the web, your Queue is available in the user sidebar located on the left side of the screen underneath “Posts.” (On mobile devices, click on the three line icon located on the upper left of your screen to access your user sidebar.)

Note: the “Queue” button will only display if you have one or more queued or scheduled posts.

A CAVEAT: It is not currently possible to queue or schedule posts to Communities. We do intend to add this feature in the future, but during development it was determined that enabling queueing & scheduling to Communities would require additional workflow and use case requirements that would extend development time when this project has already been delayed, and so it was decided to release queue & scheduling for blogs only at the present time. We will add the ability to queue & schedule to Communities soon after the Pillowfort PWA (our next major development project) is complete.

✨ End of Year Fundraiser Reward Badges: End of Year Fundraiser Rewards Badges will begin to be distributed today. We'll update everyone when distribution is done.  

✨ End of Year Fundraiser Reward Frames: As a special thank you to our community for helping keep Pillowfort online we have released two very special (and cozy!) Avatar Frames for all users. 

As for the remaining End of Year Fundraiser Rewards - we will be asking the Community for feedback on the upcoming Light Mode soon. 

✨ Valentine’s Day Avatar Frame: A new Valentine’s Day inspired frame is now available!

✨ Valentine’s Day Premium Frames: Alternate colors of the Valentine’s Day frame are available to Pillowfort Premium subscribers.

As of today (February 9th), we are updating our Terms of Service to prohibit the following content:

Images created through the use of generative AI programs such as Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, and Dall-E.

MTGLore.com Is Back Online!

Your patience during the downtime has been appreciated.

Currently, the main search, chronological search, book catalog, and comic catalog are accessible. Searches are the core functionality of the site and that means I can sleep again at night. Enjoy searching 30 years of Magic story again, in one place.

Testing Fixes and Updates

All future features and troubleshooting will be going through staging environments. I want add back timelines and add in other tools, but I'm treating any changes with an abundance of caution. It is a simple site with minimal issues, but I despise downtime.

The minor inconveniences right now:

Menu dropdown icon is missing on mobile.

Thumbnail images for some story results are missing. This has no functional impact on search, however I like visual results. They are being gradually restored.

Featured images in archived articles and campaigns are missing. There are fewer of these, but they are being relinked.

Hey guys so um my laptop broke and idk if it can be fixed yet so no site updates for a little while!! My laptop is the only one I have in my house other than my mom's and I don't want to log into hers to update the site so updates will be paused for a while

Don't worry though, I'm working on something big!!!

The Avatar’s Fury tattoos!

About a year-and-a-half ago, I did an overpainting/edit of Alexandre Cabanel’s famous 1847 painting The Fallen Angel on a whim, transforming the subject into Aang.

It went a bit viral and to my surprise people started getting it as a tattoo, which is definitely one of the coolest, most mindblowing things to have come out of running Avatar News for almost ten years now.

My page for Mob Stocking 100 2024 is up. This year I drew four pictures for the stockings available. Age swap sweep! I can't believe I didn't draw anything for canon setting lol my heart just gravitated towards these requests I guess.
