These platforms have revolutionized the way organizers sell tickets and how attendees access events, making the entire process seamless, efficient, and data-driven. One such innovative platform is TicketsQue, which is setting new standards in event management through its advanced digital solutions.
1. Enhanced Convenience for Attendees
Gone are the days when people had to stand in long queues to purchase tickets. Online ticketing platforms like TicketsQue allow attendees to book tickets with just a few clicks, providing 24/7 access to event bookings from anywhere. This convenience improves user experience and encourages higher ticket sales.
2. Increased Sales and Revenue for Organizers
By leveraging digital platforms, event organizers can sell tickets directly to a global audience. Online ticketing systems eliminate geographical barriers and provide multiple payment options, leading to increased ticket sales and higher revenue generation. TicketsQue also offers promotional tools that help boost ticket sales through targeted marketing strategies.
3. Data-Driven Decision Making
One of the biggest advantages of online ticketing platforms is access to real-time data and analytics. Organizers can track ticket sales, customer demographics, peak booking times, and attendee preferences. Platforms like TicketsQue provide in-depth analytics, allowing event planners to optimize marketing campaigns and improve future events based on data insights.
4. Improved Security and Fraud Prevention
Traditional paper tickets were prone to fraud and duplication. Online ticketing platforms use secure QR codes and digital verification techniques to prevent ticket counterfeiting. TicketsQue ensures a secure transaction process, offering encrypted payment gateways and unique digital tickets that reduce fraud risks.
5. Seamless Event Management and Check-In
Modern ticketing platforms simplify event management by integrating with mobile apps and scanning tools. This enables a smooth check-in process, reducing long queues at event entrances. TicketsQue offers a hassle-free digital ticketing solution that speeds up entry processes and enhances attendee satisfaction.
6. Social Media Integration for Better Reach
Social media plays a crucial role in promoting events, and online ticketing platforms leverage this by offering social media integrations. Organizers can directly share ticket links on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to attract more attendees. TicketsQue supports social media marketing, helping event planners maximize their reach and engagement.
7. Cost-Effective and Eco-Friendly Solutions
Printing tickets and distributing them manually involve high costs and environmental concerns. Digital ticketing platforms eliminate the need for paper tickets, making events more eco-friendly while significantly reducing operational expenses. TicketsQue offers a sustainable ticketing solution, promoting green practices in the event industry.
8. VIP Memberships and Exclusive Deals
To enhance customer loyalty, platforms like TicketsQue provide VIP membership features, exclusive discounts, and early-bird offers. These incentives encourage repeat attendees and create a sense of exclusivity, ultimately boosting brand reputation and customer retention.

Week 3 - March 19th & 21st
ERP Demo Pt. 2 & Social Media
The other day in Accounting, we had two MACC students come in to enlighten us on the limitless opportunities a career in public accounting affords you. In their presentation, one of them said, “A BBA is essentially the same as an MBA, just before you’ve had work experience.” Given what we’ve been covering now in TO regarding internal social media, I see it now! I see why MBAs are designed for professionals who have at least a few years of industry experience -- it’s so they can relate their personal experiences to the class content!
That whole lead up was so I could get to the point that in my internship last summer, we used internal social media and ERP workarounds without my even realizing it! I used Skype for Business every day to IM my coworkers quick questions that weren’t worth an email. We had an intranet where the HR team would post photos from recent company events and (I think) employees could comment on them. One of my intern projects was to use Sharepoint to develop an internal wiki for my department, which based on the definition of social media I have to wonder if this would be considered one (despite it not looking anything like Facebook and Tumblr, traditional social media platforms). It was indeed an online platform that many users were able to access and use. Long run, it would be completely filled with user-generated content. It didn’t directly integrate with other apps or offer functionality aside from one consolidated place to document our department processes, so I suppose that one aspect makes it not like a social media platform, but surprisingly everything else checks in!
Since I interned at a small company (~60 employees), I don’t believe we had an ERP system, nor did we seem to need one just yet. Learning about the ERPs like Oracle and SAP used by Fortune 100 companies made me think about how we accomplished the same tasks. We had a board on Asana (a project management software) to (manually) keep track of the status of requests between the Client Relations and IT departments. We emailed receipts from client trips and conferences directly to Accounting instead of having a self-service portal to upload them to. The Customer Care interfaced with all the other departments through a SmartTicket platform where they uploaded ticket requests and we could pass it along as needed. We were given paystubs and similar compensation information through a third party website. In short, we found third party softwares and workarounds to not having an ERP, and in my experience, having everything in a different place didn’t really appear to hinder us in any way except through an extended onboarding process. However, as the company grows, I have to wonder how long all these different third party vendors and platforms will be sustainable.
Favorite Learnings:
Big data is really big, but so is small data (as in watching people one on one use a social media platform). The middle sized data we use in Statistics is becoming less relevant. As a statistics minor, this is highly applicable and makes me wonder if the Statistics department should be redesigning their curriculum to accommodate this new change or if the theories of their courses still serve as an important foundation behind big and small data.
Social media has a broader definition than Facebook, Twitter, etc. and different ones are used within firms to accomplish different things!
There are all these internal social media platforms like Ideascale and Heartbeat that I never knew existed! A whole new niche/market of social media.
How crowdsourcing online is the new suggestion box. How, with Red Robin, their internal social media feedback let them redesign a burger in a few months compared to a year otherwise (because upper management wouldn’t have had that visibility into negative customer reactions).
Moxie Software is a type of social media with business use, but there is also a hotel chain I’ve stayed at before called Moxy with the exact same pink and black in its branding.
Professor Melville’s messing with his students on Ideascale when he used it as a method for students to get constant feedback on themselves in his class.
Philosophical Shower Thoughts:
Scrolling through Facebook, a video interview with the CEO of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) popped up. When asked by Bloomberg how technology would affect airlines in the coming years, his response essentially amounted to more efficient, comfortable planes and an estimated timeframe of 20-30 years for autonomous pilot-less planes. Given everything we’ve discussed in TO about ERPs and big data and modular microservices, my reaction was honestly “That’s it? That’s all he thinks technology is going to do for airlines?”
Perhaps it was because the video was only 2 minutes long or perhaps this is evidence to back up Professor Melville’s claims that senior executives often don’t understand how to fully leverage technological advancements, but I was expecting more from this expert in airlines than a generic “oh, it’ll help us make better planes.”
Technology won’t affect only the planes. Look at the Bombardier case we just did. The impact of technology was internal, as ERP systems are, but it still had enormous impact and supported them in pursuing their business strategy. And that’s only the beginning. Think of the treasure trove of consumer data airlines have because of their loyalty programs and how they can leverage big data analytics to target advertisements and improve customer retention. Think of all the partnerships airlines have with credit card companies, hotels, tourist agencies, etc. and how much integration they could have in terms of apps and websites, and then the corresponding APIs and cybersecurity risks. Think of how airlines are one of the least profitable industries because of their supremely high fixed costs and how Smart manufacturing could help them improve their margins.
In short, this class opened my eyes to how much more technological advancement is than increased efficiency. That’s one aspect of it, but there’s so much more and I’m beginning to see how Professor Melville is right, if we as business leaders do not stay aware of these new opportunities, we’ll be swept away by a competitor who does.
