REVOLUTION OF THE DALEKS: You can't eat the cage, believe me I've tried. Tacticool Daleks, the Trump analogue, the prison industrial complex, capitalism as an opportunistic backer of fascism. Yaz steadily losing her shit; Jack as a get-out-of-jail-free card. I grew a creature. Working with the system means the monster crawls inside you and takes you over, despite your best intentions. The factory and the cloning farm, technology providing modern shells for old enemies. No. 10's stability and security vs Ryan's gentle but hard-won wisdom about the importance of change. I was imprisoned for being me right at the point where I wasn't sure what that meant. Yaz being the first to hear the TARDIS, and she's not ready to face this, but she's at least willing to admit what she wants if not why. The public's collective amnesia when it comes to institutional evil. Ryan's emotional support beanie. The Dr's brittle, angry expression as they come to the conclusion, again, that who they are is the person who stops the monsters; how quickly they can flip from hopeful assurance to hard-edged threats. Jack's PTSD stomach-drop as he steps onto the Dalek ship. I am not impure, I am a survivor. The smaller wonders of family. Ryan's arc! His flawlessly executed companion exit! Ryan in general. Graham is now able to share his magical realist grief, his ghosts finally witnessed. Blease where is their spinoff ~
I'm torn on Jack here....he's not my favorite character but given what Chibnall's trying to do and the way he tends to do it, there's no one else who would work in this story. Like the show doesn't linger like Torchwood used to but it's there nonetheless; he's traumatized and tired and he has put himself here, again, and it's not that any of it is wrong exactly but it's something to consider. And his bluntness with Yaz is not unkind, but mein gott, what a conversation. I'm not sure what...like the people who complain that Yaz/13 is queerbaiting and/or came out of nowhere. Did you want me to chew this up for you and spit it into your mouth like you're a baby bird or
