i love just how relatable solitaire is for me- from having such a similar personality to tori, some of the same experiences and hobbies as tori throughout life, the same interests as her, the same hopes for university as tori, trying to survive a-levels, an overall shitty school experience with equally shitty teachers, experiencing what winter in the uk and at school is really like, experiencing what lower sixth actually feels like, what having a younger brother feels like, understanding all the references to pop culture and british culture, having a very similar family dynamic to her, finding the same things about school easy like her, having a different sexual orientation but being unaware or confused about it, to being infatuated with michael holden- it's so deeply personal to me i don't think anyone will ever understand, like it's my book yk? it's uncanny just how similar tori and i are, in the most non clichéd way it almost feels like it was written for me

one of the most painful things about heartstopper is that no one even knows how much tori is struggling. not even the audience members really. unless they’ve read solitaire. and then watching charlie get better knowing that tori never does.

One thing I noticed that I really love is the kind of "solidarity" (idk what to call it) of teenagers in a school. I know this almost never happens in real life, but it gives me hope in the sense that: no one is happy, but we can try to be as happy as we can. We all deal with pressure from school and society, so let's at least try to be happy together.

It's not realistic at all, but it gives me hope that life isn't that bad.

It reminds me of the ending of Solitaire, Heathers the musical (especially Seventeen Reprise) and the "Connor Project" from Dear Evan Hansen (I'm talking about the book, since I haven't seen the play or the movie yet).
