some context; in these clans the leader takes 1 week to ruminate on their choice for deputy. during this time any cat who is widely regarded as a “potential candidate” will step up and start helping out (in hopes to get on the leader’s good graces? purrhaps!)

After the death of ShadowClan's previous leader, Roaringstar, who left the Clan without a deputy, a vision is given to the healer. Influenced by it, she picks a warrior named Spottedfur. Now Spottedstar, the molly is tasked with leading ShadowClan from thetwolegplace to the forest and establish it as a faction worth considering and not just a band of rogues. But the road twoards this vision is long and dificcult. Spottedstar will not only need to battle other Clans, but her own flaws and conflicts within her own group. Prologue (Page 1)

So, uh, fun fact. I kind of changed the main character last minute. Previously it was meant to be Ravenheart, but he was pretty meh in character development range.

Spottedstar though... She has a lot of things going on. A lot of things to go trough. In general, she works much better as the main character in this case.

The Beloved, The Main Character: Spottedember

her history's on my first SpeedrunClan video and I guess this is also spoilers for the second one I haven't finished yet lol

she's experienced so much hardship and trauma, i love it <3

she was born to a kittypet, who was then slaughtered by Primfoot and Rootshade, who took her into SpeedrunClan as their own. Primfoot had a keen eye for Spottedkit's natural talent, and knew she was destined for great things, and so raised her to be perfect and obedient to her. as an apprentice, Spottedpaw grew up and partook in the wars against the other clans, and didn't come out emotionally unscarred by them. additionally, she fought against a pack of rats and slain the Rat King, earning her scar. when she became a warrior, Spottedember, she become mates with Squirrelnut, and later Hopestem. to her utter surprise, after a tragedy struck the clan and killed her mom and deputy Rootshade, she was made deputy in her place. she felt entirely unready for the responsibility, and terrified of not living up to her mother Primfoot's expectations, but with her mates by her side, she found herself in some kind of peace... until further tragedy struck her clan, making her leader Spottedstar, killing Hopestem, and decimating the rest of the clan, leaving only Spottedstar, Squirrelnut, and their kits...

Ooohhh I wanna hear about Molt :O

Molt is going to be a shorter piece going over the background and drives of the main antagonist Spottedstar. I'm not going to write the series for a while, so I don't mind talking about the spoilers lol. As a warning it does contain horror elements. 

According to merriam-webster, molt is 'to shed hair, feathers, shell, horns, or an outer layer' or to 'cast off (an outer covering)'. I chose this title because it's the main theme of the story. It symbolizes Spottedstar's transformation, as she goes from a proud cat who is willing to do anything for her colony to being an obsessive and blood-thirsty tyrant. Her mentality changes, the way her clanmates' perception of her changes, and at the end, her body changes to that of a beast to show what she's truly become. I thought that it would be appropriate to choose this word because in a sense she's slowly stripping away her humanity until she turns into a monster. She wants her colony to change for the better, to strip away their breezy and submissive lifestyles to change into cats who are powerful and feared. She strips away whose who have influence and authority until she's the one at top. But she keeps on taking and taking, and slowly but surely her clanmates can see her disguise strip away and see the hungry, obsessive monster that she is.

You know what they say about making a deal with the devil.

Any fandom ocs??

There's a lot of them. At the moment, I'm thinking more about Inspector John 'Jack' Newcomen from Sherlock Holmes, but there is also one that I hold dearly to my heart even if my interest in the fandom somewhat died down, which is Spottedstar from Warriors Cats. He's a slim calico cat from ShadowClan, technically half-WindClan but his mother moved to ShadowClan so he isn't a forbidden child, so he looks smaller than his clanmates and it's. Funny. Anyway, he's somewhat of an outcast, partially due to that (since he's naturally weaker than his clanmates, but far faster and more agile; his mentor did not know how to properly teach him due to that) and partially because he's transgender and ShadowClan doesn't really know whether or not that's something to be accepted or bewildered at. There's this tom called Owlfeather that's the greatest example of that latter one, and his parents are the greatest example of the first one: their child is so bad at fighting despite their own abilities, that they keep letting him down and trying to make him into a more ambitious cat than he actually is. It was them who forced him to agree into a 'deputyship' when Redstar's previous deputy, Lynxclaw, decided to retire. He has a good relationship with Redstar despite their personality differences (Spottedpelt has a short temper, cares too much, often loses debates for lacking arguments; while Redstar is usually very aloof, he just pretends he isn't for Spottedpelt's sake because he doesn't want to spook him up with his actual undiagnosed ASPD), and Redstar ends up being more of a mentor to him than his own mentor, though Spottedpelt still doesn't have that much saying in anything and things still need to go Redstar's way (he doesn't really like sharing the leadership with anyone, which is why Lynxclaw decided to retire from his duties early, dude got fed up). It's around this time that he becomes interested in ShadowClan's healer, Honeycomb, a frankly traumatized and imnsoniac beige tabby; she's not interested back, however, since she's not only aromantic she's also not even looking for a qpr at the moment. They become best friends instead, even if Spottedpelt is still interested in her, and serve as support for each other. It's really wholesome actually. And then Redstar dies, and Spottedpelt becomes Spottedstar. He assigns Lionmane as his deputy, which is a big yellow senior warrior; not everyone is happy with the decision, because Lionmane is paraplegic and carries himself around on his front legs, which makes some of the clanmates wonder how he's going to defend ShadowClan "properly". Lionmane is a good deputy, though! He's far more experienced with politics than Spottedstar, so he ends up being his extended braincell, which is nice because Spottedstar can't make ONE decision on his own.

Then everything changes when a rogue appears, a bit in a Sol-like fashion, but this time he doesn't cause complete anarchy, no. RiverClan stops using the Warrior Code due to his influence, exile their leader, and they create their own code and politics are still unstable but they seem to be doing fine and that PISSES Spottedstar off and worries the other clans. Spottedstar feels unsafe at these changes, because what if this reaches ShadowClan aswell? He's going to lose the only achievement he ever had, and he sorta feels that all that he went through was for nothing if there was always a way to create a system that would've been kinder to him from the getgo, always a way to avoid all of the pain. Fucker is in cognitive dissonance, bad for him bad for him

i went on a roadtrip yesterday also and after i finished reading the three latest graphic novels in 3 hours i kind of spent all extra driving time and the way back thinking about some of my oldest skyclan wc ocs and hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i realized how to make my first one actually cool

but look at her she's my Main Character

literally fighting against saying "she has red hair, trauma, AND pronouns!" so hard rn and failing im failing

literally everything bad happens to her so much she's so miserable and sad now i love it <3

her moms killed her kittypet bio-mom and raised her to be Prim and Proper (haha get it bcus her mom's name is Primfoot? ...no? okay ill see myself out-) and she grew up when the clan was at war with literally every other clan (every single apprentice in her generation got scarred, some multiple times), and right after the wars stopped, a mass extinction event occured (cant remember what rn) and it killed her mom Rootshade who was deputy (Which is a WHOLE nother story involving cheating and affairs and WHY would you appoint the girl who cheated on ur husband deputy but anyway-), and the leader decided to make HER deputy?? for some reason?? she was just a baby??? (well okay she was 30 moons but still she's baby to me)

anyway she, Squirrelnut, and Hopestem became mates and I love to think that Squirrel and Hope always kept Spotted grounded and from freaking out cause she was so stressed from the pressure from her mom Prim and the responsibilities of being deputy in a clan that just really really likes being assholes and killing kittens. and i think they helped her be less like her mom/the rest of the clan to and try to choose kindness over violence. Hopestem actually got the message that she was a part of a prophecy!!! so i was like "these 3 are gonna make the clan good again"

and Spottedember became Spottedstar and you know the story---mass extinction event after mass extenction event decimated the clan until it was only Spottedstar, Squirrelnut, Skipnight (Hopestem's sister), and their kids. and it's really sad because all those apprentices Spottedstar has listed? most of those are all her kids, and specifically the kids born in "solo litters." Birchheather specifically kept getting injury after injury and didn't graduated until 15 moons, only to immediately die... during training sessions with them there would be messages where it said she didn't train them/did something else aside from training.

she's so traumatized and numb now, i love when horrible things happen

(its also really curious to me that her traits go from "childish" to "oblivious"... why? what's she being oblivious to? ...how evil her clan was? how abusive her parents were? things to think about)

THE FINAL DRAFT POINTS

A quick run down on the main story points that were planned on. Details, and indeed the main story, would be and have always been influenced by your questions

Spottedstar was building an army to drive ShadowClan from the forest

Coal (previously labelled as The Instigator) and Tinkerbelle are responsible for this entire situation. As kittens they disrupted Spottedstar’s life ceremony (unsure how, this was a work in progress). This disruption caused the spirits of the Seers to be fused with Spottedstar’s lives, giving him access to their various prophecies and flitting memories. The inability to tell the difference between past, future, and present led him to believe the Clan was in terrible danger. This is why the Seers are not present in StarClan, and why Tinkerbelle has prophetic dreams– her soul was fused with a Seers in the incident

Rosestar’s ancestor, whose name I’ve forgotten, experienced something similar where a soul in the lake was disrupted and fused to her. This is why she killed her friends

Stormstrike was uncovering the truth. He knows Brambletail would hurt him without control, and so refuses to confront her despite whatever you Contacts may have said or done to persuade him to do something about it. In the end, he is unable to hide his reaction to the ‘monster’ (Spottedstar controlling Brambletail’s body) and Brambletail kills him to keep him quiet

This expands into a major investigation, and Ravenwhisker is of course called forward. Still trying to act as the traitor in order to keep his kits safe, he refuses to comment

Stormstrike wakes in Limbo, and we learn that the legendary figure of Limbo itself has successfully whisked him away to hide him from the dark forest’s straling of souls. Limbo is frightened, and asks for help stopping their father.

Spottedstar attacks the forest to drive ShadowClan away, in his mind trying to remove them from all the danger he sees. Many are killed, despite Spottedstar’s strong insistence to his group that they are to keep killing to a minimum. In the pandemonium Spottedstar exposes Brambletail and kills her, taking her soul away with him

(Fun fact) Ravenwhisker, when giving his first confession in front of Rosestar, got every cause of death wrong. Because he didn’t kill anyone, he had to try and guess what had happened based on public information

ShadowClan runs, with Spiderbounce and Coal leading the way to the Tribe. Ravenwhisker and Bluebell come too, being pardoned of their Crimes but not fully trusted. The journey is long and rife with misadventure depending on how you Contacts interacted with it. Cats would be lost and gained.

On the way they run into Swiftdawn and his family. Sunfire has a go at him for abandoning them again, which Swiftdawn feels is fair, but negative feelings don't last long. Clawheart in particular is delighted by her many new grandkits who are all pretty much her size already

Stoneteller is unprepared for this amount of guests and is not exactly thrilled, and is downright appalled that Hollystar was stupid enough to bring kittens on this journey. After berating and picking on Hollystar for some time, despite Hollystar’s protests, it becomes clear that Stoneteller is relaxed and simply bantering

Stoneteller expresses condolences for the losses on the journey, mentioning Stormstrike by name with a particularly heavy heart. Hollystar being Hollystar is instantly suspicious of this, and Stoneteller takes him away to meet the Tribe of Endless Hunting

We return to Dark Forest Question Time. Pestilence has taken to spending more and more time away from the Forest in favour of exploring the empty camp, imagining what her life might have been like if she’d lived

Pestilence is more open to receiving direction from the Contacts than usual and will learn what has happened. She decides to go and find Stormstrike (“Pestilence is key” prophecy)

Stormstrike, Pestilence, Hollystar, and Stoneteller all meet up in the white void thanks to Limbo’s risky intervention. They’re all as surprised to see each other, and even more surprised when Hollowmoon and Owlpaw walk in.

Hollystar immediately starts pandemonium over Owlpaw in particular being alive, and is quickly silenced. Owlpaw seems nervous, not liking this at all, but explains that Limbo brought them here too.

I did not think out any of this as it was so far in the future but all the powerful cats are now in one room, and together they learn that Eclipse, Silverpelt’s ex-mate and Limbo’s father, has corrupted and been imprisoned in his own domain. He’s been trying to build his power to escape by taking souls from Silverpelt.

I did not get much further than this. They fix it probably or maybe it goes horribly wrong but either way life changes dramatically, souls are fused and unfused, etc etc

Ashkit takes her warrior name, chosen by you lot, and is accepted into StarClan with her mother. Even Spottedstar is fine, though he stays in the Dark Forest to do his penance. We get to see the cat he was before his life ceremony, and he understands that even though his soul has been separated from the seers, he needs to remain in the dark

Everyone lives happily ever after

What are the names of all the clans in your clanged story with Spottedember as the main character?

obviously there's the main clan SpeedrunClan, but the randomly generated other clans are PansyClan, AntClan, and NimbleClan! AntClan is the clan my clan keeps killing the kits of (why do they keep letting their kits wander outside of camp?), PansyClan is the clan we've had barely any interactions with, and NimbleClan is our "rival" who doesn't take any of our shit lol

Regarding the bonehill I'm using a similar concept in my oc colonies, tyrant Spottedstar forces her followers dig up the remains of their fallen clanmates and that's where they get bones from. You don't want to follow her orders? That's fine little apprentice, guess what, you get to go against everything you have been taught and bring back the bones of the deceased, destroying their burial grounds and any burial traditions in the process. Then boom, its brought to a hill where she makes her throne on. If that's not intimidating I don't know what is!

I'm not sure how decomposition with cats work, but this could be applied here as well. According to the events timeline in warriors, a TON of cats died since Fireheart became an adult, and even more so if we count those who died when he first joined. Again, we do have to count for scavengers, but the same logic can be applied to Tigerstar in the case where a tyrant forces their subject to break all their practices and beliefs as punishment.

Pretty scary if ya ask me! We could even apply the socialism aspect with this- boom your clanmates aren't going into kitty heaven now because you messed up their burials. double whammy if said tyrant is against religion here.

Absolutely. There's also definitely a ton of control in forcing a person to exhume the grave of someone they really cared about, the physical effort of breaking through grass, moving all that dirt, so on.

Cats decompose just like all other kinds of remains, really. The speed of decomposition depends mostly on moistness of the soil plus warmth of the environment, but I bury my pets in my garden and I've come across a bone or two over the years.

The reason you dig deep is to prevent the body from being dug up by scavengers in the first place, so as long as they're buried, don't worry too much about those. 6 feet deep came from the black plague because it was thought to prevent the spread of disease, but 2 - 3 feet deep would be sufficient.

For Tigerstar, I think I really want to focus on the intimidation aspect more than the forcing clanmates to break rules aspect. Bonefall Tigerstar is a person who doesn't really care for the code, or justice, but he uses it to his advantage. Commanding people to break it outright is something he progresses into, more to fulfill a goal or do violence against a group he dislikes (Like getting rid of Stonefur or, later, Deerfoot and other rebels) than to tell TigerClan that their religion is pointless.

In fact I kinda want to remove the canonical implication that all villains are actually godless heathens who reject the true and good religion, as a Godless Heathen myself lmao. But it would be a pretty metal plotline for a tyrant leader to start making an "underclass" of people who oppose them by forcing them to do sacrilegious things, marking them as damned in the eyes of their clanmates.

Sort of like how some societies would force butchery and undertaking to oppressed classes, then they'd stay oppressed because they had to do those jobs, which marked them as an underclass, so on in a cycle.

Decided to redraw some oc's I made somewhere in 2021. I changed Flamestar and Aspenstars' names from spottedstar and thawstar.

Heronstar is the leader of Shiningclan, Eveningstar is the leader of Ridgeclan, Aspenstar is the leader of Peakclan, Slatestar is the leader of Jaggedclan, and Flamestar is the leader of twilightclan.

something i love doing is giving my cats little tags to keep track of whose who, and i would honestly love to see you or someone else give FallenClan cats some silly tags or characteristics, like i tag a cat "trauma city" or "poor orphan boy" or "serial killer"

example below:
