B.K. Sharma - RSWM Limited, the flagship company of the LNJ Bhilwara Group, is the leading India's textile industry for over six decades. Our journey has been marked by continuous growth, innovation, and adaptability to evolving market dynamics. From our humble beginnings, we have strategically expanded our operations across diverse textile segments, including Greige Yarns, Melantra, LNJ Knits, and LNJ Denim. Today, our presence spans 12 state-of-the-art manufacturing plants in North India, equipped with 6.25 lakh spindles, 172 looms, and 95 circular and flat knitting machines. This extensive infrastructure exemplifies our commitment to quality and scale.
Our growth story is punctuated by significant milestones, including our 1980 partnership with Zwicky & Co. of Switzerland for polyester sewing thread production, our 1990s venture into premium denim with Dominion Textile of Canada, and our 2020 collaboration with Swiss company HeiQ, leading to the launch of the Mayur Suitings brand. Greige Yarn: 121,000 metric tons This is unprocessed, natural-colored yarn. It's versatile and can be further processed by our customers
Melange Yarn: 24,000 metric tons This yarn blends different fibers to create unique visual effects, perfect for fashion-forward products
Dyed Yarn: 32,000 metric tons Using advanced dyeing technology, we offer a wide range of vibrant, long-lasting colors for various textile products

Additionally, the presence of other non-fibrous components like buttons, zippers or elastics requires textile recycling facilities to have advanced sorting equipment. PM Modi's Sustainable fashion wear, dons jacket from recycled PET Bottles
Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a fashion statement by donning a blue jacket from recycled plastic bottles while delivering a speech to the Parliament. The Prime Minister wore this jacket to Parliament while responding to a vote of thanks on the President's address. 
The jacket is a product of the Green Initiative of Sustainable Garments launched by Indian Oil, the flagship uniform brand for its employees, called 'Unbottled.' This initiative aims to reduce the company's carbon footprint by recycling PET bottles into garments. 
Apart from Indian Oil, other companies have also taken steps towards sustainable fashion wear. For instance, several aviation uniform suppliers have produced uniforms made from recycled polyester. These uniforms not only reduce the carbon footprint of the airlines but also promote sustainable fashion wear. Similarly, hotel uniform manufacturers have also started producing eco-friendly uniforms made from sustainable materials like bamboo, organic cotton, and recycled polyester.
'Unbottled' Initiative to Recycle Polyester
Indian Oil's flagship uniform brand, Unbottled, was launched by Prime Minister Modi during India Energy Week. The corporation has established a goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2046, and to do so, it has vowed to recycle ten crore PET bottles. In addition, the company plans to recycle 100 million discarded mineral water, cold drink, and other PET bottles annually to make eco-friendly uniforms for staff.
The Journey of PET Bottle's Transformation into a Garment
Unbottled is not limited to recycling PET bottles into employees' uniforms, as the company also plans to recycle polyester through its sustainable garments brand. In addition, the company will make uniforms for customer attendants of other Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), non-combat uniforms for the Army, and uniforms/dresses for institutions and retail customers.
Recycling PET bottles into garments start with washing, drying, and crushing the discarded bottles into small chips. These chips are then heated and passed through a spinneret to turn them into polyester staple fiber. The polyester staple fiber goes through a crimping machine to get its fluffy, woolly texture. Finally, the polyester staple fiber is spun to produce yarn, which is further knitted or woven into polyester fabric. This process helps reduce the import burden of fossil feedstock as PET recycling requires around 59% less energy for production than virgin PET (made from fossil sources) and has approximately 79% lower carbon footprint.
Expanding Sustainable Clothing Initiatives
Indian Oil has launched several sustainable initiatives, including sustainable clothing and solar cookers, to achieve environmental protection by reducing its carbon footprint. In addition to its flagship brand, Unbottled, the company also supplies eco-friendly uniforms to pilots and hotel uniform manufacturers. By expanding its sustainable clothing initiatives, the company aims to reduce its import burden of fossil feedstock while contributing to a cleaner environment.
