In the south of England, in the village of Stanbridge Mill, which is located near the town of Wimborne Minster, a new library was created in the building of a listed farm. According to the design of the Crawshaw Architects studio, the Gregorian farmhouse was rebuilt and, in addition to a publicly accessible library with seating, it also offers the necessary facilities, an office and a kitchen. The main building was originally a cow shed and for the last 40 years a warehouse for agricultural machinery.

2022 RIBA South West Awards Winners News

Great Brockeridge by CaSA Architects has been announced as the 2022 Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) South West Building of the Year.

The extension and renovation of this 1960s property in Bristol has completely transformed the performance, useability and identity of this house. Great Brockeridge is an intelligent, exemplar of refurbishment demonstrating that our existing building stock may be retained, renewed, and upgraded through intelligent design, and an active and engaged client and design team.

RIBA President, Simon Allford said:

“Winning a regional Building of the Year Award is a major achievement. Across the country projects have been selected for this accolade because they are exemplars of the very best of innovative, intelligent and delightful design. The results of positive collaboration between architect and client, and design team and contractor, they demonstrate that high quality, sustainable architecture can positively impact the lives of the people that engage with it. My warmest congratulations to all those involved.”

The RIBA Regional Building of the Year Awards were presented at a ceremony at the RIBA’s Headquarters in London last night.

Great Brockeridge is one of 6 projects which received a 2022 RIBA South West Award, announced earlier this month.
