Why I think Russell Adler is going to make a comeback in COD 2024
WARNING⚠️: Contains spoilers for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: This is all just speculation on my behalf of course. I've just tried piecing stuff together for fun because Russ is one of my fave BO characters even though he's a bitch but i need more Adler content stat. <33
Let's get into it peeps. HEAR ME OUT.
Tumblr media
Buckle up. Gonna be one hell of a ride folks 🤪
We'll start off with some random/background info.
Russ was born on February 12th 1937 so that would make him 53/54 in the Gulf War era. This actually isn't that old because if you think about it, Woods was about to turn 51 in 1981 during the Cold War campaign. What's a few more years?
We last saw Adler in action post-campaign in Warzone 1.0 cinematics but we've been kept in the dark about Adler's whereabouts post-1984 (after being brainwashed and killing Stitch LOL).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This meanie in a beanie wasn't forgotten about, oh no. He appears in the new cinematic intros on startup for both MWII (2022) and MWIII (2023). See below:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He was also featured twice in the 20 year anniversary video for Call of Duty whereas COD Ghosts didn't even get an appearance (ouch): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eL_w5HmxsPI
I personally believe Adler was a great addition to the Black Ops roster and is essentially the new Black Ops 'cover boy' now. Would be such a shame and a missed opportunity not to include a character like him in the upcoming COD. One who is morally grey, does whatever he deems necessary to get the job done - a bit like Cpt. Price in MW. Got the COD fans riled up about him brainwashing and pulling the trigger on Bell too - he's already got the spotlight in both a good and bad way.
Now, let's explore my main reasoning as to why I think Mr Shades 2.0 is most likely coming back in late 2024...
🎖️First up: Gulf War mission list 🔫
Here are some of the campaign missions that will be featured in Black Ops Gulf War. Obviously, this is subject to change, however, going off what we have, look closely...

Safehouse guys...SAFEHOUSE. Takes you right back to Cold War, doesn't it? Ugh the potential.
🕵️ Next up: The campaign for COD 2024 will dive into the CIA's role/the Black Ops timeline 🕘
I took the following snippet from this official article.
Tumblr media
From this, we know there will be a huge focus on the CIA and who's a CIA clandestine special officer? Mhm, you guessed it - Russell Adler.
Now, according to the events of BO2, it's evident which characters have the possibility of returning out of our original BO trio - Jason Hudson, Frank Woods and Alex Mason.
💫 Alex is presumed dead after Frank shot him so he's out the picture in '90/91 until 2025 when they canonically meet again.
🪵 Woods would be in his 60s during this time too so I'll let you decide whether that's too old for him to be in GW.
Edit: Woods got SPAS-12'd in the kneecaps on Dec 20th 1989 by Raul Menendez so uh...yeah
🧊 Hudson died on Dec 20th 1989 at the hands of Raul Menendez.
Feel free to check out this website (Call of Duty Wiki) for an outline of the events after CW to remind yourself. Here's a link to the Black Ops timeline from there.
➡️ Gulf War being a direct sequel to Cold War and what that could mean 💉
That brings me onto the rest of the safehouse crew. Since GW is a direct sequel to CW, it would make sense for some characters to carry over if possible:
We, as the player/Bell, get to choose whether Park or Lazar die (or both lovebirds) in 'End of the Line'. It's highly unlikely they'll return unless the devs make one decision canon maybe.
There could be a chance we see Sims again given his bond with Adler (Da Nang etc.), his age (late 40s in GW) and his status (alive).
That leaves the man himself, Russ. Everything from his age to the fact he's CIA and was the deuteragonist in COD 2020's campaign just makes sense for him to have at least a lil cameo or even a larger role, don't you think?
📱Finally: Hints from official posts 🔎
This post from Call of duty's official Instagram account kind of sealed the deal for me.
Tumblr media
Oh lookie - they dropped syringe-lover's famous line in a zombies post. Why would COD just drop it so casually like that without a reason and years after since CW came out? They could've said absolutely anything else but no, this was purposeful.
And that's all for this episode guys and gals!
Thank you for reading!! 🫂
Tumblr media
Do what you will with all this information but I have concluded in my silly little brain that scarface is coming back.
How he's only in one game is beyond me. Won't get a character like him ever again. Seems like a cliché war dude at first glance but dig a little deeper into the details of the CW campaign, peel back the layers and get into his psychology and WOWZERS.
Am I delusional? Most definitely.
But the possibility he might be returning...that little bit of hope is enough for me and i won't shut up about it.
This will age horribly if he isn't in GW. Forgive me for feeding your delusions too in that case. Please?
What are your thoughts? Feel free to share them! 😊

Weekend Top Ten #603
Top Ten Flight of the Conchords Songs
Once more I’m turning my ear to the world of music, and once more I’m listing my favourite songs by a band or artist or whatever. And I guess that’s all there is to it. It’s not a complicated one.
So, Flight of the Conchords; like many people I came across them with their musical sitcom about a million years ago; which, as well as introducing us to vast swathes of their delightful and hilarious back catalogue, also introduced us to Rhys Darby, and for that we must always be grateful. It’s kind of funny to think of this funny, quirky little show, with its mumblecore dialogue and odd parodic songs, starring a bunch of unknown New Zealanders, would spawn Hollywood actors, a major director, and an Oscar winner; it’s a bit like Spaced, in that you have to keep reminding yourself how far these guys have come, and also that the talent was there right from the beginning.
Anyway, Jermaine and Bret have been likeable and adorable and prodigiously talented right from the off. Unlike other musical comedy acts such as Tenacious D, they don’t focus on one genre or style, or even really have a defined motif to their music; and unlike someone such as Weird Al, they don’t quite have the vast range or such specific song parodies. They play, mostly, folk tinged with rock or electronica, and the humour comes largely from the subjects and the lyrics. They “do” a few Bowie-inspired numbers, as well as some hip hop parody, and arguably the greatest Pet Shop Boys riff in the whole world; but really what I love about them is they’re just so loveable.
There are some frankly hilarious lyrics and gags here, really terrific bits of musicality that I come back to over and over. And that’s about it, really; like Kiwi versions of Bill Bailey, there’s something just generally nice about them and their songs, even if they’re singing about robots killing humanity. There’s a cheery self-deprecating patheticness to most of their songs, even when they’re singing in character; it makes them unthreatening, likeable underdogs who you want to root for despite everything. And, of course, this belies the songwriting talent on display; not just their ability to write great jokes or parody different genres and artists, but just their overall musical talent as songwriters and artists. These are great songs.
Anyway, enough waffle, let’s sing.
Tumblr media
Inner City Pressure: a fantastic tone-perfect Pet Shop Boys parody, so much so that it’s kind of ruined Pet Shop Boys for me a tiny bit. There’s so much to enjoy in the bonkers, surreal vision of sorrowful inner city life, but for me it’s the fact that they manage to get “concert flautist” into a rhyme that seals the deal.
Think About It: another song ostensibly about how crap things are right now, but on a global scale. Its good-hearted but wrong-headed summation of the ills of the world are a comic delight – “why are we paying so much for sneakers when they’re made by little slave kids?” – although my favourite refrain remains “would someone please remove these cutleries from my knees”. Needs no explanation. Perhaps.
Bowie: another utterly brilliant evocation of an act, this time slaloming its way through Bowie’s entire oeuvre. There are nods to about a dozen Bowie songs here, and McKenzie and Clement do absolutely spot-on impersonations of the great man himself (which is probably why Clement was asked to play “Bowie, but a giant crab” in Moana a few years later). Gets away with calling Bowie a “filthy old bastard”, which I kinda think he’d have liked.
Hiphopapotamus versus Rhymenoceros: a sublime hip hop parody that is equal parts childish word game and surreal delight. The inventiveness not just of the lyrics, but also the overall comedy antics of the song (“My lyrics are bottomless,” he says, before being unable to think of the next line). Segueing for no good reason into a discussion of having tea with grandma, the overall silliness of the song masks the fact they are actually pretty good at hip hop.
Sugarlumps: sort of a weird inverse of Milkshake or My Humps but much dafter and about a part of the male anatomy that I doubt anyone really thinks of as being a source of attraction. The utter randomness of its subject matter is one thing, but McKenzie’s sublime interjection (“you get two complimentary after dinner mints”) makes it art.
Too Many Dicks on the Dance Floor: a really catchy beat is one thing – “too many dicks, too many dicks” – this is a fast-spoken dancefloor number that also boasts a neat line in wordplay, something the Conchords excel at. “Skedaddle with the cattle prods” is, frankly, a line of genius, but even it pales next to “Too much time on too many hands/Not enough ladies too many mans”.
If You’re Into It: a beautiful and tender ballad – albeit a bouncy up-tempo one – to mutual consent in a relationship, this is a song that needs to be lauded and applauded. Exploring the nuances of an early relationship, testing boundaries and being upright and frank in a discussion of what you want and what you’re comfortable with. That very quickly descends into weird fruit stuff and bringing in roommates. A sheer comedic joy.
Carol Brown: I knew this as the “Choir of Ex-Girlfriends” song and had mostly forgotten it till giving it a re-listen, when its subtleties and humour bubbled right up. A weird comedic version of songs like Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover, it’s just as random and filled with beautiful wordplay as most other Conchords songs. From “Lisa got amnesia” to “Bruce turned out to be a man” and the icing on the cake, the actual choir of ex-girlfriends interjecting (“This guy is a fool”).
The Most Beautiful Girl (in the Room): often their songs juxtapose a series tone or subject matter with actual lyrics that undercut the seriousness to humorous effect, and that’s the case here. Ostensibly a love song about a beautiful girl, the various and increasing qualifications make it truly hilarious. Some are just fantastic pieces of imagery (“You’re so beautiful/You could be an air hostess in the sixties”), and some are just damn good gags (“You could be a part-time model/But you’d probably still have to keep your normal job”).
Business Time: a sexy Barry White-esque number about, well, business time, this is another one of those that marries serious intent (sexytime sex song) with undercutting self-deprecating patheticness. Whether it’s references to keeping your socks on (“business socks”) or doing the recycling, the whole thing is a delight, although for me it’s the refence to “that ugly baggy t-shirt” that for some reason I find hilarious. Anyway, it’s great.

The History Of Brunch
Brunch has been a tradition in the south for quite some time. It took America by storm in the late twentieth century. Some families have made it a post-church tradition, while others use it to socialize with their friends on a sunny Sunday. Brunch, indeed, is the best meal for a daytime get together.
Brunch has been defying norms since it originated in 1895 when Guy Beringer floated the idea of a late morning meal that was a combination of breakfast and lunch. It was seen as an excuse to sleep late on Sundays. Beringer hated waking up early for Church, so he pushed forward the idea of brunch. He explained the idea in his magazine article titled “Brunch: A Plea.” Beringer pictured brunch as a social, cheerful, and inciting meal for Sundays which would start at noon. The idea was cherished by party-goers who used to stay up late on Saturday nights.
Today, brunch is often paired with bottomless mimosas, fancy egg dishes, and more. However you plan to brunch, it’s a favorite meal with a long history that you might not know about.
When Was Brunch Invented?
The credit for coining the term goes to Beringer, but the idea about the meal has traces elsewhere. The exact origin of the meal for brunch is not known, but food historians link it to the favorite pastimes of the American south, in tandem with Sunday church and hunting season. Some historians say that brunch became popular among English hunters, who used to eat lavish meals that were full of savory dishes and sweets. Nowadays, brunch has significantly changed. We have eggs, fresh fruit, homemade jams, cookies, and donuts on our tables for brunch.
Some food historians believe that Catholics started brunching on Sundays. They had to fast before mass, and afterward, they ate a heavy lunch when returning from church. Whether it started in England or any other part of the world, it is now a popular meal in many cultures. The 1930s heralded the rise of a late-morning meal, especially when celebrities from Hollywood traveled on trains all the way to Chicago to relish a late morning meal. They made it a hit among the middle class, who wanted to live like the Hollywood stars.
The Present and Future of Brunch
Whatever the origin of brunch is, it has transformed into a fun weekend activity. There’s nothing like a late morning or early afternoon brunch, with plates of eggs, waffles, and other fare piled high. Although restaurants offer a great variety to customers, brunch is a perfect meal for a family get together at home. If you happen to be a home chef, just keep it simple with savory bread, eggs, waffles, as well as coffee and cocktails like mimosas or bloody Marys.

Death Ray Pt 1
Tumblr media
Gonna just place this in a non-Thanos doomed AU. Pt 1 so far, there will be more. :D Hope you like this. More Drama/Fluff to follow.

 …
Close your eyes, you can hear it can’t you? The bubbles? Now, wait just a second more then take them out. No matter what you could still hear his words in your mind. True they were the long since ignored ramblings of a half blind cook instructing you on the art of waffles, but as your only kind hearted source of comfort growing up you clung to your moments with him through the darkening days when you neared your teens. A specialty for you both was those same chocolate chip waffles with just a hint of caramel in the chocolate drizzle, far from your most popular order these days but whenever they were asked for you relished the chance to shift back to those days once again.
Times were hard and the city seemed to be crumbling around you any time the so called heros of the planet were sent out to ‘protect’ you once again, but thankfully your business always seemed to be their early morning go to location for a quick recharging meal. For a month now another set of faces were among them, across the large dividing wall through your small cutout window you sent the meals out through you eyed the additions among them. A set of twins, guy with a freely moving cloak swatting the man beside him, an awkwardly staring red guy and at the far end of the table beside the bottomless pit of a blonde God was a Raven haired man clad in green and black mainly with arms crossed as he held out his seemingly self imposed hunger strike. Quietly he would sit ignoring the random pats and arm tugging on his shoulder from the boisterous blonde at his side attempting to drag him into the conversation.
Just once on their entrance his eyes rose from the back of the blonde before him to scan the diner and openly fell on you. In mid bouncing sway to the song in the kitchen you were dancing to between flips on the steaks on the stove along with the awkwardly shimmying lanky frame of your Cousin leaning down to rest his head to your shoulder pretending to swoon as the lyrics suggested. On his rise his head turned as you giggled, ignorant to the staring black suit clad loner in the bunch as he claimed his usual seat. Your turn back to the stove brought his eyes to a glimpse of what he imagined to be a tattoo on the back of your shoulder blade through the cutout on your tank top. Through that your Cousin caught the eye of the blonde, who waved and smiled at him, gaining a head nod in return before the napping waitress at the counter was shouted at to greet them.
Slowly she rose and claimed a large stack of menus, walked over to their table, nearly skipping granting one to Loki on his usual tea only diet, of which he merely stirred and complained about the weak color of the brew before his Brother claimed and downed in one go to avoid any insult to the staff. With palm extended he claimed his menu and the group eyed his brows furrowing in his inspection of all that was offered.
Only one was close to tempting for him. The smirks that spread on the faces of those around him when he gave the order brought a scowl back to his face causing him to lower his gaze back to the tea sitting before him in a curiously darker shade today. Timidly he lifted the same mug he was granted each day, one that shifted from pitch black to a deep blue with glittering stars and galaxies around it with the heat of the tea.
Inhaling slowly he noticed the subtle change in the mixture of tea drawing his eyes back to you through the window in a rapid glance mid sip then back to the drink as he fought the blush trying to overtake him at your purple eyes already on him. In the corner of his eye he caught your hint of a smile and soft giggle at his pleased expression and second sip being taken. One by one he watched you prepare the meals in your usual pattern before his expression softened as he caught your melting enamored gaze through the crafting of his. Each action precise and deliberate in bringing it to perfection until the moment you set it on the counter stealing another glance at the man actively ignoring your gaze right now as the others all started claiming the first tastes of their meals already on the table.
The moment it was set down Thor caught the vast difference between his stack of blueberry drizzled waffles and Loki’s, even Sam’s strawberry stack seemed a polar opposite. The pair watched as Loki collected his fork and knife and smirked at the puffy stack just slicing perfectly, eyeing the slice he caught the lean of his Brother to catch a better whiff of the incredible helping he was not given with a near jealous scowl forming on his face as Loki shoved it in his mouth and froze in his body’s struggle not to release any sort of noise he imagined the spine tingling meal to draw out of him. Each bite and chew widened his smile until he got a third of the way through and glanced at Thor and Sam’s stacks, hastily he sliced two near wafer thin helpings he passed to each of them before claiming a solid slice for himself and proudly smirked at Sam’s obnoxiously loud moan and eye roll before exclaiming in a turn he wanted an order of those as well before Thor’s freezing when his helping hit his tongue.
Between the pair a silent glance was shared confirming the vast difference in care placed in his Brother’s serving. Food, being a necessity is also seen as an entire language and form of expression to Asguardians, and your first offer to Loki had plainly stated yours. Upon arrival of Sam’s plate another bite was stolen by the Brother’s who mentally confirmed, though close in taste, the intention and meaning behind them was vastly different, even though the Midguardians around them all claiming their own tastes exclaimed happily without any notice of what it could mean. Happily they all cleared their plates at the round of pages going off calling them away. On their feet again the Brother’s eyed you closely in their hushed conversation about you and what Loki’s next move would be as a large tip was left for you, one that would surely help you cover part of the huge dent having to replace your roof twice now at their nonsensical ‘helpful’ ways.
.
Around the city the distant crashes finally settled and you finished prepping the kitchen for the early morning shift your Cousin was claiming allowing you a long awaited morning off. With a sigh you turned towards the counter where your bag and coat were located only to gasp at the tall suit clad Asguardian before you. In your confused blinking gaze up at him he wet his lips and a smile grew on his face as he proudly stated, “I’ve planned a dinner for the pair of us.” His eyes scanned over you as your hands shifted awkwardly into your pockets, “Do not be concerned about your attire, I’ve gathered a rack of clothes for you to choose from, shoes too at the penthouse.”
“Um, sorry, you’re asking me out to dinner?”
His smile flickered wider through his soft chuckle, “I can’t have my Wife going hungry now can I?”
Your brows flinched up as he adoringly scanned over the string of curls falling from your high lazy bun atop your head joining the other seven strands reaching well past your shoulders. “Wi-.” Your head turned to the back door opening and revealing the teen you saw the day before as he smiled at you awkwardly then passed a small envelope and traded the ticket information before saying, “I’ll be in the car.”
Loki nodded then glanced at you again with another smile as you said, “You said Wife?”
In a soft gasp he reached out claiming your hands then smiled wider as he cradled them before his chest, “My apologies. Your proposal earlier today, I accept.”
Under your breath you muttered, “Proposal…” Softly your voice sounded then died at his sudden lean in to press a kiss to your knuckles stirring a glistening pair of painfully blue eyes flooded with hope and affection from the usually stern and stoic man.
Gently he released your hands and offered one towards the door, “We have plenty of time. Peter is only taking us to the penthouse, then there’s a driver hired for our dinner, the boy has school early and the driver ensures we’ve plenty of time to learn one another before you move in with us.”
After pulling on your coat you met his eye, “Move? Why would-.”
“Unless you’d prefer I move in with you. But that is an issue of distance between the tower and space for, well, I don’t actually have much past my books.” His smile flinched wider as he gestured to the open door guiding you towards the small white car seeming to be borrowed from the parent of the teen in the driver’s seat rather than being his. Behind you your Cousin struggled to contain his laughter as he wished you an amazing night with your new Husband earning a glare from you in your back seat beside Loki. Closing the door he adjusted his suit jacket then claimed your hand closest to him to clutch sincerely as he stole gentle strokes across it with his thumb.
Turning your head you avoided Peter’s amused expression and caught Loki’s eye widening his smile, “Um, this proposal-.”
“I was quite uncertain you would follow our courting rituals, or even know them at all. My Brother did mention the basics to Midguardian markers for courting before, but I was quite relieved you had chosen ours for your offer. As was my Brother, who has no objections to our union at all.”
At your puzzled expression you caught Peter’s eye in the rear view mirror as he said, “It was quite a way to propose. Waffles, don’t hear that every day, quite a story for the children one day.”
Softly you whispered, “Children.”
To which Loki patted your hand with his free palm and added, “Which of course is not a pressing matter. We’ve still our home and nesting first before children are considered. They’ll be of noble blood and will have to be prepared for and noted properly.”
After wetting your lips you replied, “I’m not-.”
His hand patted yours again, cutting you off, “You’re Midguardian yes, and technically I’m a Jotun raised by Asguardians, so our children will be quite intriguing for some, but none the less they will have noble blood-.”
His words halted at your free hand rising with a finger extended, “First, Midguardian, Jotun and Asguardian, I’m going to need a bit of an explanation there.”
With a weak chuckle he replied through a growing smile, “Of course Dearest.” His title for you twitching up you brow at the sound of it before he delved into sharing about the similarities between Norse mythology and their history while using his phone to draw a few sketches of the great tree and a few other objects in his definitions. Upon arrival at Stark Tower you exited in the parking garage as Peter claimed his back pack from the trunk then caught up to you both in the elevator as Loki shouldered your bag and pocketed his phone sharing about a brownstone apartment duplex he and Thor were saving up money for sharing. Plans that would now suit your new marital status much better, and would also allow him to plan your first shopping trip to try and see what sort of furniture and decorations you would want for the new home.
.
A soft ding brought the massive penthouse into view with an eager blonde waiting for you on the other side of the doors as the raucous group all waved at you withholding their chuckles as the blonde stated, “Hi, I’m Pepper. I’m sorry I didn’t quite catch your name?”
Tony called from the other room, “J-something Pear’s what the lease agreement says.”
After a glare at him she turned to face you with another smile stealing a glance at Peter when he passed her to start on his school work, weakly smiling at her you replied, “Jaqi Pear.”
She smiled again, glancing between you and Loki, who released your hand as she stated, “We’ve got some outfits for you to look at for dinner.”
Awkwardly you joined her into the other room leaving Loki to share another hushed conversation with his Brother as Peter spilled all the details he had so far of their date.
Alone in the room you caught Pepper’s eye and you asked, “Do you know how I proposed?”
Your confused expression stirred her relieved exhale before her spilling, “Something about Waffles, Thor wouldn’t explain anything past that, he tries to keep their people’s culture to themselves. So, somehow, waffles means marriage.”
With a sigh you turned to the rack of dresses as she started showing you a few, “So, Loki, is he um, wasn’t he against Thor years back?”
Pepper rolled her eyes through another sigh, “Apparently that’s how they’ve always been, battling Brothers. Loki did have a plan though, something about reforming the Avengers to protect Earth in the future. He’s much more tame now, though he does have his moments.” Her eyes met yours, “But I know he’s been nothing but sincere about how he feels about you. Thor assured all of us you wouldn’t be harmed and he wouldn’t dare use you as bait or anything like that.”
In a mumble you replied, “Only ones he’d reel in with me is debt collectors for my damn roof.” She caught your eye, “The ‘Avengers’ leave quite a crater in the heroics. Had to replace it twice now. Still paying off the last one.”
Her lips parted, “I’ll have that handled by morning.”
You shook your head, “No, you really don’t have to do that.”
She smiled at you, “Yes we do. Honestly Tony should have seen to it months ago, especially since they all eat there so often.” She grabbed the silver dress and held it up to you with a soft smile “I think this one is best.” When you accepted it she turned to the shoes next, “What’s your size? Oh and you can shower through there if you’d like.”
Within minutes you had the gifted clothes in hand eyeing yourself in the mirror in your underwear trying to see how much of the scar on your back would be visible from the thickly strapped dress with a cutout between your shoulder blades. With a sigh you pulled on the dress over your bra and panties, thankfully a pair you wouldn’t be embarrassed to be seen in, as if you’d ever allow your dinner to get past just a meal even if he was a Prince or your Husband.
Turning again you secured the three buttons across the back of your shoulders then let your ponytail lay over your back and smoothed your hands over the dress, working out the wrinkles as it dropped to your knees signaling your reach for the matching heels. After another glance in the mirror you collected your clothes and sneakers and added them to your bag then walked out to join the waiting Prince as you hoped this wasn’t just some giant cosmic joke or bet in your expense.
.
The very sight of you parted his lips as a series of whacks from the women in the group silenced the men readying to say something or race across the room to you. As you ignored them you locked your eyes on him and his awed smile in his cross to accept your hand and guide you back down to the waiting car as the group all formed a circle to send you off cheerfully bringing a soft blush to your cheeks thankfully waiting until the doors closed to grow noticeable.
On your right Loki wet his lips and said, “Simply stunning.”
Barely above a whisper you replied, “Thank you.” In a rapid glance from his eyes to his suit your finger extended to tap his arm, “I like your-,” When your finger hit the material it glowed green in a rapid shift into a leather sleeve coated in various folds and straps and back again. “Suit.”
With a weak chuckle he replied, “My battle armor. I rarely leave without it. But I can shield it, I am glad you enjoy the illusion. We can always go clothes shopping for actual suits if you wish sometime, so you could help me choose a fuller wardrobe for our outings.”
“So, where are we going?”
His smile grew at your eyes meeting his again, “Arora, near the observatory.” Your lips parted increasing his joy at your hearing of it, “They have a great show on galaxies through the meal I’m told. Quite stunning according to Pepper and Peter.”
“The tables are also more than I make in a year.”
He chuckled weakly, “Pepper pulled some strings. It’ll be private, so you won’t have to be concerned about us being overheard or pestered by anyone.”
With your ankles crossed you settled in your seat and glanced back at Loki as his hand eased around yours again on the cushion between you. “So, we’re married.” He nodded still holding his elated smile, “How exactly, I mean, you mentioned the duplex earlier.” Your eyes shifted to the driver causing your head to shift to the side and you to point at his back asking, “Isn’t that Captain America’s boyfriend?”
With a chuckle Loki answered, “Bucky, yes. As for their romantic ties I’m not certain, I believe them to be closer to Brothers.” You nodded catching his eyes scanning over you both curiously, “You were saying, the duplex. We could always go for a house if you wish.”
“No, it, I, um.” Turning your head again you locked eyes with Loki and his curious smile, “That is, I have an apartment, and I’m assuming you live in the penthouse.”
He nodded, “Oh. As for us living together if you are unsure it can wait until your trust in me has grown.” To which you nodded, “Allow us to court fully, with clear boundaries, of your choosing of course.” As you turned to peer at the cheering limo filled with a group of women on a hen party you heard Loki asking, “Is this a tattoo?”
Your eyes lowered to the door frame at his finger on your free hand tapping the curved end of your scar stirring a protective wave in Bucky at your sinking demeanor, turning to face Loki you replied, “It’s a scar actually.”
“Oh, was it painful?”
“The upper half was.” His eyes scanned over your face at your shaky inhale, “It’s not really a just met you conversation, but, short version, My Father, locked me in our house after killing my Mother,” His lips parted at your words as he watched the pain flicker in your eyes that refused to meet his, “He, lit it on fire. I found a window he missed boarding up a corner of, broke it, sliced my shoulder when I ran out. I, when it healed it mixed with my other scar making it look more like a seahorse. So at least it seems more like a tattoo unless you get close enough.” He drew in a sharp breath trying to think of what to say, “Like I said, bit much for a just met you conversation.”
Lowly he replied, “My birth Father left me to die in the snow. Odin found me, adopted me. Raised me to believe my people were monsters to be fearful of, never once tried to teach me otherwise, or the Asguardians. When I was older, not that long ago I learned who I was, his bargaining chip, something to be used for his mission to unify our people. I understand troubles with Fathers.” After patting your hand with his free one he asked, “How did you get your diner?”
“It was my Grandfather’s, he got me, after. Taught me how to cook and bake.”
“How long ago did you-.”
“Near fifty years back in my fourties.” His lips parted and brows rose, “My Gramps, I’m not certain he was Midguardian, as you put it.” Stirring his smile wider as Bucky eyed you closer trying to guess your true age.
“How did he-?”
“There was a robbery at our bank. We were walking home from a show, he blocked me from their getaway car, stray bullet.”
“I’m sorry.”
You shook your head, “Don’t be. We all have our ends.”
From the front seat you heard Bucky mumble, “Some more than others.” Causing your brow to twitch curiously as Loki said, “It’s a bit complicated.”
..
Once inside you ignored the stares from the people in the tables you passed until you were off in your private room and the lights dimmed as the wine was poured to the soft instrumental music sounding the beginning of the video of the first galaxy. Through your meal between videos when Loki wasn’t correcting the information in them stirring more of your soft giggles that brought out his adoring gaze, smile and continued his game that mingled with a few more questions about yourselves.
Deeper and deeper he sank as you felt a stirring in your chest for the man you doubted the others had truly seen in this relaxed enamored state of his. Though his latest answer to your question of his favorite Earth song brought out your widest beaming smile at him in surprise. “It only takes a moment.”
“You, Mr I brought an army of aliens to this planet, enjoys Hello Dolly?”
Your giggle widened his smile, “Peter introduced Thor to Wall-E, it has a few snippets of the film in it. This world has its positives. I do enjoy a few of the ‘classics’ as they’re called.” After a sip of his wine he added, “Wall-E was enjoyable as well, though flawed in a few technological aspects.”
Your smirk silenced him causing him to roll his eyes and chuckle softly, “Oh we will be continuing this discussion later. I look forward to hearing your opinion on all Pixar and Disney films. Along with a few others.” To which he nodded then peered up at the walls as the next clip began with furrowing brows in his focus at the details he aimed to correct.
Not long after there was a page and you were brought back to Stark Tower leaving you alone with Loki who took you up on the roof to point out the few stars available. Between his still glowing blue eyes and continued sharing of his former home your lips had gently found his cheek bringing a surge of joy through him in the innocent first contact from you. The slow drooping of your eyes signaled his guiding you back to the elevator, in which they shut and you’d leaned against his side widening his adoring smile as he scooped you up in his arms carrying you to his room.
.
A pained grumble left you at the bright wall of sunlight coming through the wall of windows. Turning over you burrowed your head under your pillow, in your settling your eyes opened at the faint sound of a shower turning off causing you to pull back when you realized you were under silk coated pillows and a thickly embroidered green and gold comforter. With wide eyes you sat up and peered down at your still in tact layers curiously enough with another large long sleeve shirt over your dress. Smoothing your fingers through your hair you shifted your legs to the side and eyed your bag only to look towards the bathroom door opening and revealing the shirtless Prince smoothing a towel through his hair and smiling at you as he eyed you in the bright sunlight, “You’re awake. I can make you a breakfast, if you’d like.”
You stood shaking your head, “I should go. Tom’ll probably be furious.”
His entire body tensed as he repeated, “Tom?”
Your eyes met his after you rubbed your face, “My cat. Always eats at sun up.” Glancing around you noticed the half of the bed you slept on disheveled without a trace of his resting place, “Where did you sleep?”
He chuckled weakly moving to pull out a fresh shirt and socks to add under his pajama pants as he removed them to pull on the black jeans he had chosen. “On my lounge.”
Your eyes traveled to the lounge by the window with a single silk coated pillow on it then back to him after eyeing his King sized bed, “I am nowhere near large enough to force you out of your bed.”
Chuckling softly he missed your eyeing his tightened muscles and scattered small fading scars as he pulled on his fresh change of socks, pants then straightened to button his deep green shirt he then tucked into his jeans. “True.” When he had rolled up one of his sleeves he approached you with a growing smile and claimed one of your hands, “You are my Wife, it is my place to ensure your safety. I still have yet to gain your trust fully, when I am invited, by you, I will share our bed. For sleeping, until you say otherwise.” Raising your hand to his lips he kissed your knuckles sweetly, “Those are the rules, at least on that subject. When we come across more I will share the details for them as well.”
You nodded and reached out when he released your hand to roll up his second sleeve for him stirring his loving gaze deeper when your head tilted up to meet his gaze. With a steady inhale you said, “I’m not wearing my heels, and you keep looking at me like that,” his brow twitched up making you roll your eyes through an awkward chuckle, “You’re going to have to lean forward.” As his smile inched wider he followed your instructions bending forward and nearly tilting his head to melt against your fingers when they met his cheek. Carefully you placed a kiss on his cheek then pulled back to see his same enamored gaze stirring a thought to possibly try for one on his lips.
“Might I return the favor, Dearest?”
Speechless you froze in place only able to nod and not much else, especially after his own hand eased so adoringly along your cheek through his slow approach. His motion paused at the soft pair of lips warmly pressing to your cheek in a firm loving plant, remaining there for a few moments stealing a memory for himself of this milestone he’d imagined since first meeting you before the inevitable retraction. Slowly his body pulled back just a few inches to lock eyes with yours as you struggled to remain breathing at the impossibly sincere gesture. But as his eyes aimed to meet yours he found them sunken in a heated stare directly at his lips starting his struggle to with hold his smirk.
Again your finger grazed along his cheek in your lean in to claim a kiss, though a breath away from contact you flinched back at the loud crash you heard through the wall he instinctually stepped between you and the unseen threat. Softly he sighed, “It’s Thursday.” In a turn to meet your gaze he continued, “It’s complicated. Ego thing. I’ll escort you home.” You nodded joining him in adding your shoes before he snuck you out and joined you on the subway ride back to your place so he could memorize the route for later.
Small fell incredibly short of your loft apartment, in the building behind your diner, mostly filled with boxes and stacked furniture from the home you once shared with your Grandfather. Leaving you a small portion of it you shared with the fluffy cat nearly the size of a sheep widening the eyes of your Husband, who bent to pet the cat rubbing himself against his shins.
.
Following the natural order into each life a little rain must fall, or in your case half of the building across from your diner just days after your first date. Firmly you were griped in firm arms as your skillet fell to the ground in the mix of screams as the flightless Avengers led the customers and your two employees into the portals Dr Strange was forming. In a quick turn you were in the street staring at the cloud of dust and rubble still landing on what used to be your diner. Unable to help in you drew in a wavering breath as tears streamed down your cheeks, fingers looped around your chin turning your head to face your Husband whose voice finally came into focus. “Jaqi, breathe, I’m taking you to the tower.” Within a moment you were gripped and curled around his middle a his arms circled you through his race towards the nearest portal Dr Strange formed for the Avengers to regroup as Thor flew though right behind you.
Straight to Loki’s room you were carried, where he set you on the bed as your face crinkled up as you neared your breaking point at your loss while Thor entered and lowered Tom onto the bed beside you eying his frozen stance until he raced to curl in your lap. As they left they glanced back at your crumbling position curling around Tom through their promise to return soon.
But soon quickly shifted into hours with midnight bringing the exhausted bunch into the penthouse to find you seated by MJ who was reading through the rental ads at your side drawing the Brothers over to you curiously.
Thor eyed the pen in your hand you were tapping the end to against the table, “Feeling better?”
Your pink eyes met the pair sinking their hearts at the dried tears from hours back streaked around your stinging eyes when the wet trails had finally dried up, “Define better.”
Loki leaned closer reading, “You’re searching for apartments? Your building is intact, we checked it, twice.”
When he straightened he caught the hitch in your voice when you said, “Yes, but my Landlord called. My lease was up in two days, same as the one for the diner, he’s selling to some tire and lube chain. I have a week to get out.”
With parted lips the group all eyed you and Loki blurted out, “Stay here.”
To which Thor nodded adding, “We signed our lease on the duplex last week, should be ready for us in a few days when Coulsen and SHIELD go over it.”
Crouching at your side Loki slid the newspaper away from you, folded it and slid it to the edge opposite you, locking eyes with you in a heartfelt plea, “Please?” With your nod Thor turned to make you supper as Loki led you in for a calming bath before tucking you in while Tony called Coulsen for helpers in moving your belongings into an approved storage space using Dr Strange’s portals to make the job easier.
At your inability to sleep a weak grin formed on Loki’s face, a few clicks on his remote later along with a set of carefully worded requests he was seated above the covers beside you as you both watched the opening credits to Hello Dolly. Barely moments in his smile grew at your inching closer to rest against his arm and ease your hand around his, a position you held until you were finally lulled to sleep.

Where to eat with kids
Families flock to the Gold Coast for theme park action, beach chills, hinterland mini-hikes and sunny good times. But you’ll need to step up your energy levels to extreme perkiness so that you (and your little people) can keep up with this holiday to-do list.
From Main Beach to Surfers and down to Currumbin, we’ve found the best family-friendly cafes and restaurants to refuel the crew, complete with climbing spots, play areas for all ages, frothy babycinos and piping-hot flat whites for the tour guides (aka you!).
BSKT Cafe, Mermaid Beach
You’ll find BSKT right in the heart of Mermaid Beach, less than 40 metres behind the sand. The dedicated kids area on the beach side of the restaurant (with bonus activity packs) isn’t the only drawcard for families – all kids meals come with a free juice and little ones eat free here every Friday night.
While they’re known for their locally-sourced, organic, paleo and gluten-free menu, BSKT is a hit with kids thanks to the berrylicious pancakes, tacka tacos, flatbread ham and cheese toastie, and kiddies ham and eggs. Little (and big) kids can top it all off with a CocoWhip, a healthy soft serve that’s vegan and dairy-free.
Where: 4 Lavarack Road, Mermaid Beach. Open: Breakfast and lunch Monday to Thursday 7am-4pm, Friday and Saturday 7am-10pm, Sunday 7am-5pm. Hot tip: Nom nom downstairs and then ommm upstairs at BSKT Activ where they offer strength and recovery-focused yoga classes.
Paradox Coffee Roasters, Surfers Paradise
This modern coffee-lovers haven has created a great gated space for kids featuring a chalk wall, toys, teddies and games to keep them distracted while you enjoy a coffee hit, eat with two hands and maybe even have a grown-up conversation.
The all-day breakfast and all-day lunch menu is packed full of deliciousness like haloumi and avocado burger and housemade cranberry and chia fruit toast for parents, but the real treat comes in kiddie form with the Paradox Kids’ High Chocolate. Prepare for the sugar high.
Where: 10 Beach Road, Surfers Paradise. Open: Breakfast and lunch daily from 7am-3pm. Hot tip: For something a bit special, their high coffee experience is like a regular high tea, but with caffeine goodness.
Waterfront Restaurant at Southport Yacht Club, Main Beach
Want your kids to learn sailing skills while you sip your latte? Then head to the Southport Yacht Club on weekends from 9am to 10:30am so your 7 to 15 year-olds can take off on a FunSail adventure.
Once they’re back from a morning on the water, they’ll need something palatable from the “cadets” lunch menu, which includes all the staples from steak and chicken nuggets to pasta bolognaise and fish and chips. Seafood-loving parents, on the other hand, will be drooling over the macadamia crusted barramundi or salmon linguine.
In between sailing and eating, the kids will be sorted for fun at the playground on the western lawn of the clubhouse.
Where: 1 Macarthur Parade, Main Beach. Open: Breakfast Saturday and Sunday 7:30am-10am, lunch Monday to Saturday 12pm-2:30pm and Sunday 12pm-5:30pm, dinner Monday to Sunday 5:30pm-8:30pm. Hot tip: Kids can chow down on lunch or dinner for a bargain $5 on Mondays and Tuesdays with any adult main meal purchase.
Bumbles Café, Surfers Paradise
It might only be a five-minute walk from the heart of Surfers Paradise, but Bumbles Cafe on Budds Beach – facing the Nerang River – feels miles away from the high-energy centre of the GC.
Find a spot outside under a big shady umbrella at one of the best under-the-radar kid-friendly cafes and place an order for a prawn or lime chicken finger sandwich (for you) and bacon and egg slider or waffles with vanilla ice-cream and Lindt chocolate sauce (for them).
Where: 19 River Drive, Budds Beach, Surfers Paradise. Open: Breakfast and lunch Monday to Thursday 7am-4pm, Friday to Sunday 7am-4pm. Hot tip: Go posh and book in for Bumbles’ high tea featuring housemade sausage rolls, quiche Lorraine and lemon curd tartlets.
Bazaar, QT Gold Coast, Surfers Paradise
One word: Buffet. A crowd-pleaser for all ages, this Sunday brunch buffet is found inside one of the coolest hotels in the hood, QT Gold Coast, smack bang in the middle of Surfers Paradise.
Their epic spread includes a live crepe station, gourmet brekky bowls, fondue station, breakfast pizzas and fried chicken with waffles – all of which can be enjoyed by the kids too. Buffet-style dining at its yummiest.
Where: QT Gold Coast, 7 Staghorn Avenue, Surfers Paradise. Open: Breakfast daily 6:30am-10:30am and dinner 5:30pm-late, Sunday brunch 11:30am-3pm. Hot tip: Treat yo’self to bottomless mimosas for an extra $25. Worth it.
Miami Marketta, Miami
If you’ve got kids that can’t agree on cuisines, head to outdoor street-food market Miami Marketta for 25 vendor options that’ll suit all tastebuds.
Despite the delish savoury selections available – from teppanyaki noodles and gnocchi to gozleme and brisket – the kids may make a run straight for the Dessert Hall which holds an abundance of gelato, cakes and donuts.
Live music from local blues, jazz and roots artists (with a dancefloor to boot) rounds off this fun family night out.
Where: 23 Hillcrest Parade, Miami. Open: Dinner Wednesday 5pm-10pm, Friday 5pm-11pm, Saturday 4pm-11pm. Hot tip: Got a group? Book out the Cocktail Garden, which opens up the private bar to you and your guests.
Paddock Bakery, Miami
For kids (both the two- and four-legged kind), this busy bakery and café inside an old Queenslander home is a great spot to enjoy breakfast, brunch or lunch (or an anytime treat).
Head beyond the picket fence to explore the veggie patch, citrus trees and lavender garden, armed with one of the ample crunchy cronuts, gooey tarts and other treats that are pumped out each day.
Want something more substantial? The dippy eggs (served with buttered sourdough soldiers, bacon bits and labna) and iced Milo are high on the order rotation for the kids, while mums and dads have tough decisions to make with the all-day brekky and lunch options.
Where: 20 Hibiscus Haven, Miami. Open: Breakfast and lunch daily from 6:30am-3pm. Hot tip: Need to cater a morning tea? You can order tarts, sourdoughs, cakes, sausage rolls and other treats from Paddock Bakery online.
Plantation House Cafe, West Burleigh
Right on Tallebudgera Creek and less than 10 minutes’ walk from David Fleay Wildlife Park, you’ll find Plantation House Cafe. With plenty of off-street parking, this easy-access cafe pulls in the locals with their all-day organic and free-range breakfast treats like Boston baked beans or corn and zucchini fritters, both served with spinach and poached eggs on sourdough.
Acai bowls are ready for the fruity fans while kids can’t say no to Plantation House’s burgers, pancakes and shakes. There’s a kids’ play area with chalkboard, rocking horse and loads of toys, too.
Where: 1/43 Tallebudgera Creek Road, West Burleigh. Open: Breakfast and lunch Monday to Saturday  6:30am-2:30pm, Sunday 7am-2pm. Hot tip: Grab some breakfast sustenance after an early morning swim in Tallebudgera Creek or play at Marin Sheils Park across the road.
Dune Café, Palm Beach
Dune Cafe’s location in the middle of pumping Palm Beach (and overlooking Currumbin Lagoon) gives them a five-star family badge.
Scallywags who love simple breakfast cuisine will dig their hotcakes or bacon and egg slider; while lunch options include tasty nacho boats and Southern-style chicken tenders and chips. The big people menu doesn’t disappoint with rustic potato and quinoa hash for brekky, or barramundi in crispy gluten-free batter for later on.
Where: Palm Beach Parklands, 945 Gold Coast Highway, Palm Beach. Open: Breakfast and lunch daily 6:30am-3pm. Hot tip: Grab a table or BYO picnic blanket and take in the live music on the last Saturday of every month.
Passiontree Velvet, Robina
If your mini-me brings their mandatory plus-one (of the stuffed kind) to all occasions, book in for the Teddy Bear’s Picnic kids high tea at Passiontree Velvet.
With all the fanciness of a grown-up high tea, but with a kid price-point (and no tea in sight), this cake shop turns it on with ham finger sandwiches, strawberries, macarons and a choice of babycino or juice. Mum (or dad!) is sorted with classic English scones, finger sandwiches and loose leaf tea too.
Where: Robina Town Centre (in front of David Jones), 19-33 Robina Town Centre Drive, Robina. Open: Monday to Wednesday 9am-5:30pm, Thursday 9am-9pm, Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday 10am-5pm. Hot tip: Order a custom cake or macaron tower for a next-level addition to any birthday party.
Neighbourhood Espresso, Currumbin Waters
As the name suggests, there’s a strong community vibe at Neighbourhood Espresso with a casual backyard feel.
Let the kids loose in the vintage caravan cubby and grassed play area with tables and chairs and toys aplenty. Then, load up on the spiced pumpkin waffles with banana curd or chunky avocado topped with seeded dukkah, lemon and cumin oil. Kids can take a break from play with bacon and fried egg or avocado on sourdough.
Where: 4/9 Station Street, Currumbin Waters. Open: Breakfast and lunch Monday to Friday 5:30am-2pm, Saturday and Sunday 5:30am-1:30pm. Hot tip: Expect a good coffee from Neighbourhood Espresso. Their beans are brewed from Yatala’s own Supreme Roasters.
Currumbin Beach Vikings Surf Life Saving Club, Currumbin
Whether your crew is signed up for the local nippers or not, Surf Life Saving Clubs are a pretty sure bet for good-value kid-friendly food options. Currumbin Beach Vikings have breakfast, lunch and dinner by the beach sorted with loads of specials across the week.
The Nippers breakfast menu covers simple delights like sausage, egg and hash brown or pancakes with maple syrup and ice-cream. Family faves like chicken nuggets, cheeseburger and chips and old faithful, Hawaiian pizza, are on the Nippers lunch and dinner menu.
Where: 741 Pacific Parade, Currumbin. Open: Breakfast Monday to Friday 7am-10:30am and Saturday and Sunday 7am-11am, lunch Monday to Friday 11:30am-2:30pm and Saturday and Sunday 12pm-3pm, dinner Sunday to Thursday 5pm-8pm and Friday and Saturday 5pm-8:30pm. Hot tip: Leave your car at home, and call ahead to arrange the courtesy bus pick-up and drop-off.
The Bearded Dragon Hotel, Mount Tamborine
If your family is beached out, head to the hills of Mount Tamborine and dine on quality pub-fare at the Bearded Dragon Hotel. Set on 110 acres, this country pub paddock with a huge beer garden has a bit of everything for the fam from live music and crocodile shows to playgrounds and alpaca feeding.
The Bearded Dragon team are serious about their hefty steaks and burgers but also mix in a sticky plum and maple glazed pork belly and Big Boy brisket Yorkshire pudding for good measure. Kids can take their pick of cheesy bolognaise, steak and vegetables or battered fish and chips.
Where: Corner Tamborine Mountain Road and Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road, Tamborine Village. Open: Monday to Friday 10am-8pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am-8pm. Hot tip: Make a weekend of it and stay overnight in a family room onsite at Bearded Dragon Hotel.

The Best Ice Cream Shops In Austin added to Google Docs
The Best Ice Cream Shops In Austin
If you’re anything like us, those cool, double-digit days probably feel like a distant memory right about now. Fortunately, one of the best ways to cool down is also one of the tastiest (no, we’re not suggesting you drink the water at Barton Springs). Austin is home to some great frozen desserts. From gelato and avocado-based versions, to fully-loaded dessert tacos, here are some of the best places around town to get ice cream.
Sorry—looks like you screwed up that email address

Want to quickly find restaurants on the go? Download The Infatuation app.   Central Austin  Raphael Brion Luv Fats $$$$ 422 Guadalupe St
Avocados are magic - they’re good on toast, make the best margaritas, and they play the starring role in guacamole (what’s guacamole without avocados - salsa?). And at Luv Fats, avocado is also the solution to an ice cream that’s dairy-free, vegan, and super smooth (with an assist from coconut milk). Flavors change often, but recent ones include butter pecan, rosemary chai, sourdough toast with peach jam, and lavender cookies and cream. It’s available by the pint at The Bee Grocery in East Austin, or you can buy scoops and pints at the downtown farmers market on Saturdays and the Mueller market on Sundays. They also participate in other pop-ups and events, so do check them out on Instagram.
Tropical Dreams Hawaiian Ice Cream $$$$ 2001 Guadalupe St. Suite A
Tropical Dreams has been making ice cream for over 25 years, but you’ve probably never heard of them since their new location on The Drag is their first one outside of Hawaii. They use a high-butterfat mix to make their ice cream, resulting in a really rich, creamy texture. Besides, this is the closest most of us are getting to traveling to Hawaii at any point in the near future.
Raphael Brion Sweet Ritual $$$$ 4631 Airport Blvd
We like the vegan ice cream at Sweet Ritual on Airport Blvd just fine - especially the very good Death Metal by Chocolate (with a double chocolate sunflower seed butter base and gluten-free chocolate cookies). But our favorite frozen desserts to get here are the shakes, made with their coconut and soy-vanilla soft serve. Most of the sauces and flavors are homemade, including chocolate, peanut butter, and salted caramel. We like to get the strawberry shake with chopped peanuts for a PB&J-adjacent dessert.
Nicolai McCrary Taco Sweets $$$$ 5000 Burnet Rd
Ice cream tacos are the perfect answer to the question, “How can I fit more tacos into my life?” At the trailer Taco Sweets, you can build your own if you’re feeling up to it, and finally live out your childhood dream of building a waffle-cone taco with strawberry ice cream, Cap’n Crunch cereal, and Sour Patch Kids. We usually go with one of their pre-vetted combos, like the S’more Lovin’ taco with vanilla ice cream, chocolate chips, marshmallows, crumbled graham crackers, and chocolate syrup. They’re located in a small food trailer park near Burnet and Hancock for takeout and delivery, with plenty of picnic tables in the area.
Dai Due $ $ $ $ American ,  Sandwiches  in  Cherrywood $$$$ 2406 Manor Rd
Dai Due, the Manor Road butcher shop and restaurant, might not be the first place you think of when you’re looking for ice cream. It’s probably not the second or third place either, for that matter. But the next time you’re placing your online order for wild boar lettuce wraps or four pounds of steak, throw in a pint or two of ice cream. It’s all churned in-house. Flavors vary based on what’s in season, but you can expect to find local, seasonal flavors like Texas peach buttermilk, or goat cheese and blueberry.
Raphael Brion Dipdipdip Ice Cream $$$$ 7301 Burnet Rd
While Dipdipdip’s hot pot service may be temporarily on pause (they’re doing a sandwich pop-up right now), the ice cream stand they opened up outside of their restaurant is still going stronger than ever. The menu features a rotating ice cream taco with a pan-fried brioche shell and a daily flavor, as well as shakes and ice cream flavors by the pint, including ones like a super-creamy yuzu mascarpone (with strawberries and snickerdoodle cookies that we liked a lot. They’re located near Burnet and West Anderson Lane.
Mandola's Italian Market $$$$ 4700 W Guadalupe St #12
Mandola’s operates with four locations across Austin as equal-parts Italian marketplace and restaurant. So it’s a great place to grab some imported olive oil and cheese with your take-home bowl of gnocchi. They also sell homemade Italian-style gelato by the pint or quart. Flavors are more classic - chocolate, lemon, berry, etcbut you’re probably not coming here for some kind of caramel-bacon-gummy bear drizzle anyway.
 Raphael Brion Fresa's Chicken al Carbon $ $ $ $ Tacos ,  Mexican  in  Downtown Austin $$$$ 915 N Lamar Blvd
The Mexican/Tex-Mex spot Fresa’s has got a lot of things going for it - the 9th St and Lamar drive-thru is extremely convenient, and the South First location has a spacious patio. The food’s good too, but getting any meal there without the excellent ice cream would be a serious mistake. The flavors change regularly, and they’re simple and well-executed (like orange creamsicle or cookies and cream), or sometimes they’re fun and innovative (like strawberry cheesecake or rice krispies). At both locations you can get “tiny” servings and pints to go, as well as scoops at South First, dine-in only (sometimes with a cookie).
Amy's Ice Creams $$$$ 1012 W 6th St
You already know about Amy’s, we don’t really need to tell you more. Hundreds of flavors in rotation, more locations in Austin than we have fingers. You’re probably within a block of one right now.
East Austin  Nicolai McCrary Gelateria Gemelli $$$$ 1009 E 6th St
While Austin’s East Side seems to have no shortage of ice cream and gelato, Gelateria Gemelli consistently comes out as one of our favorites. There are some great classic flavors, like lemon curd and pistachio, as well as less-common ones like miso vanilla. They also double as a coffee shop, which means you can turn any of these into a delicious affogato for a perfect, late-afternoon pick-me-up.
Dolce Bacio $$$$ 1606 E 6th St
Staring down the menu at Dolce Bacio will make you feel like you’re in a small Italian coffee shop, with the smell of fresh cream in the air and Nessun Dorma playing softly in the background. That is, until you realize you’re in a food truck park in East Austin and it’s 110 degrees out. The menu consists mostly of gelato and sorbet - all made in-house - but they also have tiramisu made with fresh mascarpone cheese, cannoli, and affogatos.
 Nicolai McCrary Prohibition Creamery $$$$ 1407 E 7th St
Equal parts cocktail bar and ice cream shop, Prohibition is that perfect after-dinner spot when you’re not sure if you want to end the night with a drink, dessert, or both. The flavors are constantly changing out with local, seasonal ingredients, like prickly pear mezcal sorbet or pecan buttered rum. And of course, there are just as many flavors without alcohol - both vegan and dairy-based - because not everything has to be boozy to be refreshing on a hot summer afternoon.
 Roger Ho Launderette $ $ $ $ American ,  Italian  in  Holly $$$$ 2115 Holly St
It’s not exactly an ice cream shop, but we felt it would be a disservice to dessert-based sandwiches everywhere to not mention the birthday cake ice cream sandwich from Launderette. It’s simple, it’s covered in sprinkles, and it’ll make you feel like it’s your birthday. This seems like an easy win right now, so give a try or two or three. They also sell the ice cream sandwiches in six-packs that come in a mini foam cooler.
 Nicolai McCrary Lou’s $$$$ 1900 E Cesar Chavez St
Most of the food at Lou’s is rotisserie-based - with chicken, sirloin, and cauliflower - but if you’re looking for a sweet finish to your meal, they make some really nice frozen desserts. The hand-spun milkshakes are tasty (try the horchata flavor), but we usually go with their classic vanilla custard and add some brandy cherries.
 Nicolai McCrary Hay Elotes $$$$ 2214 E 7th St
You can get all kinds of snacks and desserts at Hay Elotes, from fruit cups and chamoy apples to, well, elotes. Of course, there’s also a full selection of ice creams and sorbets. But our favorite dessert just might be the Mango Hill - a seemingly bottomless cup of mango sorbet studded with fresh strawberries and topped with strawberry syrup and chile limón powder. It’s refreshing enough to make you forget that you just sweat through your second shirt of the day. They’re located near Webberville and East 7th and are currently open for takeout and delivery.
South Austin  Nicolai McCrary Sandy's Hamburgers $ $ $ $ American ,  Burgers  in  Bouldin $$$$ 603 Barton Springs Rd
It’s almost impossible to make a list of ice cream spots in Austin without mentioning Sandy’s. They’ve been around for over 70 years, and in that time not a lot has changed on their menu. After you’ve taken down one of their classic burgers, make sure to get a vanilla, chocolate, or mixed frozen custard to really get the full Sandy’s experience. Bonus points if you can make it out of the parking lot before it melts all over your hands.
Cannone Gelato $$$$ 1720 Barton Springs Rd
Cannone is located on Barton Springs Rd, right near Zilker, making it the perfect spot for a post-park cool down. The owner started off with a gelato shop in Monaco before opening up this small, mobile gelato shop in Austin a few years ago. All of the gelato is made daily, and many with imported ingredients like Italian pistachios or hazelnut paste.
Nicolai McCrary Cow Tipping Creamery $$$$ 4715 S Lamar Blvd
At Cow Tipping Creamery, they like to combine less-conventional toppings with rich, dairy-based soft serve. So you can expect to see things like funfetti cake chunks, blue sugar crystals, and birthday cake crumbs on top of your vanilla or chocolate base. The result is a rich, creamy dessert that looks almost as good as it tastes. They have a bunch of pre-vetted flavor combos, or “Stackers,” but our favorite is the NOLA that comes topped with bananas foster bread pudding, rummy caramel sauce, honey-dusted pecans, and whipped cream. There’s also an additional soft serve flavor and Stacker special each week.
Manolis Ice Cream Pastries & Cakes $$$$ 603 W Live Oak St
Manolis sells homemade ice cream, paletas, shakes, Italian ice and pastries out of a trailer just off South 1st. The ice cream flavors range from classics, like vanilla or strawberry, to less common fruits like soursop and lulo. All of the ice creams can be made into shakes. And since they also sell espresso, you can turn them into an affogato.
 Nicolai McCrary Dolce Neve $$$$ 1713 S 1st St
The first time we went to Dolce Neve and asked a question about their mint gelato, the folks behind the counter pulled out a potted spearmint plant from a top hat (OK there may have been a door involved) and told us “this plant right here is where all of the natural mint flavor comes from.” That was when we realized just how committed they were to fresh, seasonal, and (very) local ingredients. And it shows - they consistently make some of the best gelato in town. Their flavors rotate out pretty often, but if you happen to see their mascarpone and matcha, do yourself a favor and order it ASAP.
Thai Fresh $ $ $ $ Thai  in  Bouldin $$$$ 909 W Mary St
All of the ice cream at Thai Fresh is vegan and gluten-free, which in this case means a rich, coconut milk base. The flavors here range from Texas favorites like local peach or fig, to the more Thai-influenced flavors like green mango and pandan leaf. They’re located near South 1st and Mary St, with ice cream available by the scoop, pint, or gallon for curbside pickup.
Nicolai McCrary Lick Ice Creams $$$$ 1100 S Lamar Blvd
Lick is about as close as Austin gets to a farm-to-table Baskin’ Robbins. They have close to 31 flavors - mostly made with local, seasonal ingredients - three locations in Austin (and another two in San Antonio), and nationwide shipping. A lot of their mainstays are twists on classic ice cream flavors, like dark chocolate with olive oil and sea salt, or vanilla bean with Hill Country honey. But there’s also a whole menu of seasonal flavors like elderberry mojito and lemonade pound cake.
Nicolai McCrary Holla Mode $$$$ 1800 Barton Springs Rd
Holla Mode specializes in “Thai style” ice cream, which isn’t so much a comment on flavors as it is on the method of preparation. The liquid base - made with dairy or coconut milk - is prepared to order before being poured onto a frozen, stainless steel surface, where it quickly starts to freeze. Meanwhile, a wizard of sorts starts scraping this now-frozen mixture into little rolls that get stacked into a cup and covered with all sorts of syrups and toppings. You can make your own combo or go with one of their house specials. We like the Sticky Mango - their take on the classic mango and sticky rice Thai dessert.
North Austin  Raphael Brion Bat City Gelato $$$$ 6301 W Parmer Ln Ste 503
Bat City Gelato in North Austin has (you guessed it) house-made gelato and frozen desserts like sorbet, gelato pops and cakes, as well as affogato. They’re constantly rotating flavors in and out - if you see something you like, you better order it - and they’ll even sometimes take customer requests. There are often classic flavors like salted caramel, pistachio, and stracciatella, and there are also creative ones like Almond Joy, butterbeer for you Harry Potter nuts, and Samoas for the Girl Scout Cookie fans. Follow them on Instagram for the latest flavors.
Sugar Pine $$$$ 8578 Research Blvd
Sugar Pine is Japanese cafe near 183 and Ohlen that specializes in bento boxes, soba noodles, onigiri, and ice cream. All of their ice creams and sorbets are made in-house, all-natural, and come in flavors like matcha, black sesame, and watermelon-Thai basil.
Nicolai McCrary SnoMo $$$$ 11301 Lakeline Blvd
Taiwanese snow ice might just be one of our favorite methods of ice-intake. Blurring the lines between shaved ice and ice cream, SnoMo takes giant blocks of creamy, flavored ice and shaves them into bowls, before covering them with your choice of fresh fruit and syrup toppings. We like to go with a fruit-flavored base - like mango or strawberry - and add a scoop of ice cream, some fresh fruit, and condensed milk. But there are so many possible combinations that you could try a different one every day for a couple of years (don’t check our math on that). They have locations in North and South Austin, as well as Cedar Park, and are currently only accepting takeout orders.
Michoacana Natural Ice Cream $$$$ 9426 Parkfield Dr
Michoacana is probably best known for their house-made paletas, but they also have a great selection of ice creams and other frozen treats, like mangonadas and Oreo frappes. You can also get some really fun snacks, like hot cheetos with queso, if you’re feeling especially cheese-inclined. Grab a snack, a scoop, and a paleta, and get ready for a great afternoon.

The History Of Brunch
Visit James Restaurant in Logan Square, Philadelphia for lunch, dinner, brunch and private events.

The Pan, 57 Holly St., Pasadena (Old Town), CA 91103
Tumblr media
Come hungry because portions are huge. Breakfast (pancakes, omelettes, scrambles, French toast, waffles, burritos) is served all day at this comfort food haven. For lunch they have burgers, sandwiches, salads, and pizzas. I heard that you might have to wait on weekends.
* Signature scramble ($10.50 + $1 to upgrade toast to a buttermilk pancake) with Italian sausage, onions, bell peppers, house potatoes, garlic, basil, shredded jack cheese, and three eggs. The plate was ginormous. The scramble had a lot going on. I liked how the sausage was tender and flavorful. The potatoes were sliced into thin discs.
* Buttermilk pancake: This was okay – big, light but lacking buttermilk flavor
* Coffee: Typical diner coffee with free refills. They didn’t come around with refills even though they weren’t busy. I had to ask for one. They serve Lavazza coffee.
The décor was cheerful but not cohesive. It feels like a diner but then they have a tiki bar in the other room.
They have happy hour specials (3 PM – close) and bottomless mimosas.
