As an IT Apprentice, you`ll be responsible for a variety of jobs, including: Support service delivery of IT infrastructure team, maintaining systems in optimal condition, including regular maintenance, monitoring and housekeeping.Support all IT systems and software to include PCs, infrastructure, audio visual, remote access and Wifi.Respond to helpdesk requirements completing tasks in line with agreed processes and escalating where necessary.Provide face to face, remote and telephone support where appropriate. To work closely with the IT team to improve response time, IT team profile and infrastructure.Manage room setups, AV provision and to assist with desk moves and builds as required.Ensure the support log is properly maintained and calls as well as users are updated on a daily basis, and actioned in accordance with agreed timescales.Review support log to identify trends, recurring issues and escalate as appropriate.Assist with the development and implementation of new software and practices for internal clients, manage upgrades, patches etc.Assist with inventory maintenance. To ensure all IT equipment is security tagged and logged and inventory of loaned equipment is kept up to date.Work with the IT team to identify best practice, future development and training needsEnsure software/hardware installations and machine builds are completed in time and to an excellent agreed standard.Ensure purchase orders are completed with all relevant details including user names, prices and model numbers.Be responsible for system backups / restores, ensuring all full backups are tested every Monday morning, and end of month tapes are labelled accordingly and taken out of the loop.Ensure creation/deletion of new accounts and IT booklets in conjunction with the Joiners and Leavers process.Assist with Active Directory and Exchange maintenance, along with ensuring server maintenance / update schedules are completed according to best IT practice.Take ownership of anti-virus management and security for all desktops, laptops and servers across the firm.Review and update procedures of all areas of IT to ensure that they are appropriate and accord with best practice.Be fully familiar with the firm`s IT compliance policies including backup, antivirus, data protection, security and confidentiality.Assist with the maintenance of and training on the telephone systemAssist in the recording and publishing of solutions to IT issuesAssist in training on and support of all internal programmes /systems to include desktop faxing system, desktop publishing system and intranet What experience and skills do I need? You don`t need loads of professional experience in IT. However, you`ll need at least five GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above including Maths, English and IT / Science.
