"What the hell, Rhapsody."

Green grimaced, hands clutching at the large gash across his torso, "Witch, I-"

"Don't 'Witch' me, Rhaps!" Blue’s voice raised a tad louder, fists clenched, "You promised you'd be careful!"

Red looked away, frowning deeply. Green studied him- had to know if he was alright- then back to Blue.

"I knew I could've taken it, and I did. I'm still alive, aren't I-"

"That's NOT GOOD ENOUGH!"

Green stumbled back at Blue’s sudden outburst, shocked.

She was never the type to explode.

"You promised us, G- Rhaps." Her voice cracked with emotion, shoulders threatening to shake, "You promised you'd be okay.."

"I- I know, Witch, I'm sorry- I just-" He took a deep breath, "You were going to get hurt, and I-"

"You JUMPED in front of me! I could've easily dodged- you KNOW that!"

"NO, WITCH, I DON'T KNOW THAT!"

A pause filled the air.

No noise.

No movement.

Nothing.

Just shaky breathing- trembling fists- misty eyes.

Then Green spoke again.

"Everyday, whenever you both join me on patrols- I don't know if you'd come back safe or not!" Green choked, "I don't know HOW to lead a team, I don't know HOW to keep you all from pulling a stupid move to get yourselves KILLED- I don't know ANY OTHER WAY to protect you both that isn't THIS."

Green took another deep breath- turning his head away to avoid the looks that Red and Blue may be sending him, "So forgive me if I look out for you both in the only way I know how."

Blue watched Green walk away- to tend to his own wounds, no doubt.

He could've asked her for help. He didn't.

"He's ALWAYS been looking out for us though. All the time, in every way..." Red's voice was quiet- yet rang loudly against the piercing silence.

"Yeah..." Blue agreed, "He.. He just thinks he's not capable of that."
