I love the way you do shading and coloring! Could you do a tutorial on it sometime? I love your art :0)

I’ll do you one better, here’s my poorly explained art ritual right now! (Gave me another excuse to draw King Candy, thank you for that.)

I mainly just fumble around and hope for the best. Usually I pull colours from references, but I just eyeballed it for this. Choosing the shading is pretty straightforward, move the hue and the darkness around and experiment. Like dark pink for the red bow tie, orange for the yellows, ect. Then use the smudge tool and pray. I used pink on a multiply layer for Candy’s stupid rosy cheeks. Last I make a new layer above the line art one—and using a similar technique as the shading—I choose a darker colour for the outline but only colour in some of it, leaving some of the line art’s original colour. Mainly due to laziness, but it looks good so yay!!! I have no idea I this was helpful or not, but if it wasn’t at least you get the royal fruitcake and his pea.
