Ngl, at first I thought Annie was Satch mother not because of her physique but because in the beginning he knelt near the “burial” place and kept repeating “daddy was here, daddy was here” so in my mind I thought their daddy had died but the mom was alive.

But after the dialogue they had after it was clear that was a romantic relationship and the chemistryyyyyyy it was out of this world 😭 I would’ve loved to be a fly on the wall

For me if you pay close attention to that scene, you see there is a stone place on the burial with a tiny hand print and he said “Papas here…” and placed the flowers down. The tension between him and annie the moment he raised his head to lock eyes with her. The way her body seemed to shiver as her shoulders dropped and her face took on a solemn expression mixed with slight rage? It was obvious to me.

And I loved the slow burn tension. You can feel it in that shack it was so palpable and it gave me shivers! Much like being in a sacred place like that surrounded by root work. I loved the way they both conveyed this unspoken feeling of anger, guilt, sadness, longing.

It was beautiful, more than him bending her over and fucking her.

And you can just tell that Smokes went those seven years without even a glance at another woman. Annie may have used hoodoo for that as well who knows!

I had no expectations of this drama - my wildest hope was that it would be watchable and my main interest is that it had to be dropped before Sword and Beloved could air. But now I am unhinged about this!!!!
