Realized I never made an official post talking about my kiy Leerie cultist OCs. So! Here they are!

Yapping about the Leerie cult lore below:

Okay so TECHNICALLY Adam Fry isn’t mine. But also technically I made him into his own distinct character with a story. Adam is in OC limbo.

The story begins with Adam’s older brother, Leo, being chosen from childhood to be the host of the King in Yellow during the (failed) summoning ritual. Leo never wanted to be the host, but immediately resigned himself to his fact. He is treated by the elder’s with anything he desires, despite hating the cult. This leads to many cult members hating Leo in return, and advocating for a new host to be chosen.

Another cultist ends up challenging Leo in a duel. Only the two of them, two elders, and Leo’s best friend, a dancer named Kit, are on the stage. And all five of them end up dead.

this is where Adam comes in. Adam is a million times more devoted to the King than his brother is, and he steps up to investigate the deaths. He calls upon a paranormal investigator to help him. This ends up being Charlie Dowd, pre Egypt and the Dreamlands.

Charlie helps Adam solve the murder, and the two part ways. Adam becomes the new host for the King in Yellow, and steps into this role easily. He is the one to set Charlie on the path that eventually takes him to Egypt.

back in the ritual, which fails miserably as we know, Adam and his best friend (also a dancer) named Grace, are taken to the dreamlands. Grace is stripped of her name and identity, and Adam never sees her again. He does, however, become a prophet for the King in Yellow. A preacher, a prince, an executioner. He is called the Yellow Stag.

The King in Yellow knows his attachment to Charlie Dowd. Adam is nothing more than a pawn to the King once he knows of this weakness.

We love it when you lose the plot of a fic so bad you’re basically making an au of an au for a character that doesn’t actually exist

like at this point these are just my ocs. I have to change like two names and it will be completely mine.

On the other hand! I have fully planned out how TMITM Ascension relates to Carmina Burana by Carl Orff

and I will yap so it gets out of my head so I can focus on the chapter (REALLY LONG INCOMPREHENSIBLE YAP UNDER THE CUT)

so. Keep in mind that I’m playing the band arrangement by John Krance and that affects how I view the music (what with instrumentation and stuff)

so the first half is kinda between TMITM Arkham and the ritual. O Fortuna is the kiy though. His power, his oversight and control in Adam’s life.

Fortune plango vulnera is a callback to Roland’s letter to Charlie in egypt (not really sure what I wrote but whatever) basically Roland runs into the yellow stag and it’s kinda like a chase/hunt where Adam gets badly injured and has to shed his bloody robes and disappear into Arkham

the first half is generally light compared to some other movements, (ecce gratum, tanz, floret Silva) which I kinda equate to Adam’s beginning life in the dreamlands where he’s living basically as the king’s beloved prince at this point

however were diu werlt alle min is a callback to the failed ritual and he’s beginning to remember Arkham. Think Arthur’s memory loss except the pieces of Adam’s devoted to Charlie are purged and replaced with devotion to the king. Except, of course, he gets it back

begin what I truly equate to Adam and Charlie

amor volat undique is basically Adam realizing that he actually really did love Charlie, all those memories coming back (especially him leaving Charlie in case four and what happened in the ritual. Subsequent guilt ensues)

ego sum abbas is a drastic tone shift, where Adam has to resume his duties as the yellow stag (sending out to kill, preaching to Carcosa, etc) I have cool visuals for this that are mostly flashes of action and color that I can’t put into words. Use your imagination it’s cool trust me.

in taberna quando sumus, or as what my band delightfully calls “the beer movement” sticks with the tone shift but more into the chaos that is Adam’s mind. Failed prophet. Broken prince. He destroyed the King in Yellow and he destroyed Charlie’s life. You know the drill (also fun fact percussion has broken two fancy glass beer mugs and two champagne bottles during rehearsal. Back to back. We aren’t giving them any more glass until performance, they have to use sticks)

another tone shift when we go to In Trutina. Here’s where instrumentation comes into play. In John Krance’s arrangement, the solo is done first by oboe and second by trumpet. It’s a beautiful piece really, my favorite out of the whole suite. Oboe is Adam’s instrument and trumpet is Charlie’s. It’s so pearl blue and gray and I absolutely adore in trutina. They’re. In the prison pits by the way. They’ve reunited at this point. Think gentle touches and braided hair and quietly quoted Shakespeare. I’m obsessed with them.

then a very short dulcissime, which is Adam Fry’s song. This solo is done by an oboe is well. It literally means sweetest boy. (Sweet prince) it sounds like heartache and it sounds like Adam and it hurts.

Straight into ave formosissima, (hail to thee most beautiful) is worship, but nothing that Adam had known before now. I’m in so much pain. Adam means so much to Charlie and he died loving him and he would rather have died serving Charlie than serving the king. I’m in pain.

the fortune imperatrix mundi is as is shown, the finale, the king’s control, he orchestrated this and they can find this as a win, but it’s really not.

He’s broken Charlie beyond repair. He’s gotten rid of his traitorous prophet. He’s discarded them both. Life goes on. There’s a better way to put this but it’s mostly just in the feeling of the music and also I’m trying to wrap this up. Trust.
