Doing some style tests for TMNT:HME!! I'll probably go back and reline this whole thing in a different style to see if I like it better or not, this is pretty neat tho! I'm not in love with the speech bubbles, but those can be adjusted pretty easily!!

Let me know if this needs any warnings, I didn't think so but then again, half of the google doc I wasn't sure about soooo

Also I forgot to add in the current refs that Raph has a lazy eye, I hope it make ssense visually, if not I'll work on that as well

A Splinter-centric comic?? In MY TMNT:HME?? More likely than you think.

All jokes aside, the reason this is just a sketch is because the au ain't about him and his struggles :/ sorry Splinter, but I'm trying to be less apologetic about your behavior so you get the sketch treatment

Anyway, I mentioned previously that Mikey has heard Splinter cry after one of these interactions and this is why. The other reason is that he has pretty bad anxiety and is constantly worried about what Leo is putting into his body - despite the fact that Leo hasn't started testosterone SPECIFICALLY because of how secretive he'd have to be :/

Splinter: omg it is literally just a phase, everyone wishes they could be the opposite sex >:(

Another TMNT:HME style test. Similar to the last one, but more of a painted sort of background? I'm not 100% satisfied with this one tbh. Also translating things parents say about your body into turtle stuff is difficult??? Maybe I'll work on that since this will come up again :/

Anyway this comic also has an alt. palette ( it's the original palette but I wanted to try with this darker look)

This comic has been the most...idk sad so far. Um. there are worse things in this google doc, but I was feeling v dysphoric today (brought on by a similar sort of conversation to this one) soooo a treat!

I said I'd ramble about the TMNT:HME sibling dynamics so here it is:

Some of this stuff I've already touched on before, but I'll try and go into a bit more detail on the specific relationships

Leo is the oldest, but all the brothers know he's not the favorite. If anything he's the least favorite ( Not the problem child, though, we'll get to that ) - though Splinter swears he doesn't pick favorites.

As far as all the brothers' views on him as a whole it's something like ' he's the oldest but sometimes he acts way too much like Splinter' and they've said this to him occasionally. And every single time it hits like a fucking brick.

Leo wonders if Mikey thinks he is cool or not - he doubts it. They're sort of in a ' in this together' mentality when it comes to Donnie and Splinter. Leo tries very hard to teach Mikey all about gender/sexuality without Splinter's knowledge. He wants Mikey to know that there is a safe almost-adult for him to come to about that stuff. Mikey doesn't really get it, though. Leo is a bit sad that they don't have a more healthy sibling dynamic - he could never, ever discuss big feelings with Mikey or talk about Splinter. It kinda sucks, but he knows they don't have to talk about big feelings. They just have to have fun.

Leo, for a long time, had a special sort of animosity towards Donnie because of him being the favorite. When they were much smaller, Leo actually hated him for it for a while. But as he got older and they drifted apart, he realized that it's not him vs Donnie, its all of them vs Splinter. He still thinks Donnie is a kiss-up, though, and he constantly tries to help him grow out of that.

Leo and Raph were a lot closer when they were kids, but the shift to disliking Donnie due to favoritism also kinda roped Raph into it, since Raph and Donnie are a lot closer than any of the other brothers. Nowadays, Leo is mostly just....sad about his and Raph's dynamic. He feels guilty for a lot of the way Raph grew up, he knows a lot of it is his own fault ( and some specific things that are his fault 100% that there will be a comic about later ). Overall their relationship is tainted by guilt - Leo will never forgive himself for treating Raph the way he did when they were younger.

Donnie is the favorite, as all the brothers will agree ( Raph still isn't sure that's true ) and Donnie won't deny it. He's proud of it, actually. He knows he's the favorite because he's the most well-behaved. He does his chores, he shows interest in Splinter's hobbies or what he's saying. Overall, he cares a lot about Splinter's opinion - definitely more so than his brothers.

Donnie has noted that Leo acts like Splinter, but he frames it as somewhat of a good thing. He's very.... calculated with his and Leo's relationship dynamic. He tends to keep his distance emotionally, and will call out when Leo is being an asshole. He has also been the most troublesome when it comes to Leo telling him to do chores. He is Team Splinter all the way.

Raph, as his twin, is his favorite brother hands down. Donnie does play favorites and Raph is his favorite brother. They spend the most time together, Donnie prefers hanging out with Raph than hanging out with the rest of his brothers, but they still have fights sometimes. Mostly over room stuff or Raph being too loud. No fight has ever lasted more than a day, though.

Mikey and Donnie have a weird, standoffish sort of relationship. They don't have a ton in common, but still like to play video games together! Mostly mine craft. Donnie just doesn't feel like hanging out with him too often is all :/

Raphie!

Raph has a complicated relationship with Leo- on one hand, Leo can be really cool and fun!! On the other, he can be as annoying as Splinter. And Raph easily gets mad when Leo makes fun of him, sometimes blowing up at him or his brothers for it. He's very easy to anger and sometimes Leo pushes his buttons on purpose. But to be fair, Raph pushes Leo's buttons back just as often.

Raph and Donnie are closest, but Raph sometimes wishes he was the older twin so maybe he could be the favorite. However, Raph usually reaps the rewards as well, since Splinter doesn't even really know he exists most of the time. If Donnie gets a treat he will find a way to get Raph one as well.

Raph and Mikey have an unspoken rivalry - Raph and Mikey have a lot in common, but Raph hates that Mikey is 'better' at so many things than him. He has his own hobbies, but Mikey always does them better. And he's afraid of his little brother surpassing him.

Mikey looks up to Leo as his ' cool but sometimes lame older brother' - most of the time he thinks Leo is cool but sometimes Leo will say/do something so lame that Mikey has to literally walk away. Mikey has also told Leo that he's acting like Splinter the most.

Mikey sort of looks up to Donnie, but it's mostly for his smarts. Other than that, he also resents Donnie a bit for being the favorite :/ Thinks he cares way too much about Splinter's opinion

Mikey doesn't know how Raph feels about his talents. They're close the way youngest siblings are close - they used to roughhouse a lot as kids and nowadays they compete in stupid competitions around the lair :)

So that's how the boys' see each other! I talked about this a bit before, but this is a bit more in detail since someone suggested it the other day <33

I said I was gonna doodle some TMNT:HME stuff so here we are, a test comic of one of the comic ideas I have written down <3333

The actual comics will be a lot cleaner, I just really wanted to doodle these guys ;-;

Also yeah Mikey is rambling about Taylor Swift in the last panel and HE'S RIGHT TAYLOR SWIFT THE OG ALBUM IS SO GOOD

I have a lot more to say about this comic, but I think if you're an eldest sibling that feels disconnected from your younger siblings you will understand this all too well ;-;

( He says Linkin Park in the first panel, but ends up going on a rant about Taylo Swift and how her vocals have changed a lot, but she was still a good singer back in the day or smthn lmao)

Quick sketch of April O'Neill, Case Jones and Splinter for TMNT: HME

Just because I have other stuff to work on/post doesn't mean I can't do prep work for this iteration heheheheh

Some stuff about April and Casey Jones:

April first:

- Trans mtf, her dad is supportive and she is transitioning !! Yay April!!!

- Friends with all the turtles, but is closer with Leo :)

- Wants to be a photographer for the newspaper when she graduates!!!

- 17-18 at the time of the iteration

- she's dating Casey Jones :) idk how they met yet

Casey Jones:

- HES TRANS TOO!!! Trans Ftm >:)) his parents are supportive !! He has two moms, one of which is also trans and they support him very much

- Closer to Raph than the other turtles, likes to spar with him

- Has a car and can drive

- Maybe homeschooled idk yet

- has some anger issues, he's working on it

- Splinter thinks he is so polite, doesn't know he's trans. Casey wants to tell him so so so bad, but Leo has begged him not to cause Splinter already doesn't like April.

- 17-18ish

So yeah, those two are on the roster now too!!!

Also some design updates for these guys, we'll see if they stick!

Leo has a jacket instead of a scarf now ( due to some stuff I added to the doc and realized his design needed an update to reflect the changes) he also has two stripes and a bit of a different head shape. also longer pants. I'm trying a new eye design too, but I've tried it before and get tired of it easily so we'll see how long that lasts!

Mikey is more round. That's p much it cause he was perfect from the get-go LMAO l. Also made him even younger to better reflect mine and my youngest sibling's own age gap ( which is actually 8 years, but I couldn't make it that big or they would be the teenage mutant ninja turtles anymore ).

Donnie finally got a gov. Designated turtle species!!! I ended up going with Southern Painted turtle so he and Leo kinda match!! He also got a snoot!! And became a noodle :)

Raph is almost exactly the same except more square, with shorter mask tails.

I've simplified all their limbs to match their hands too, plus I like this look better overall. I've been thinking about changing Leo's mask tails to look more like styled hair, but I really really like him with the long flowing ones, so we'll just have to see :)

I've added so much to the Google doc that I an risking getting way too excited for it and not finishing other stuff, but thankfully writing it down here means I will have to be held accountable and that I'll have to finish stuff!! Plus I'm sure everyone wants to know what happens at the end of the Kid Leo au ;)

I know I said I'd shut up about TMNT:HME for a while but I am literally alwasy thinking about it soooooo here's a few doodles :)

Human Splinter!! He worked as a nurse :) I haven't decided too much of his backstory just yet since I'm reworking some stuff, but that bit has stayed! Idk what his name is yet either, i was hoping to make it something already within the realm of the tmnt universe, but didn't find one that matched well enough (since he is not Hamato Yoshi)

I have lots and lots of info about them, but I won't share too much unless specifcially asked since I have comic ideas and stuff that I can't share just yet. I'll answer any questions as well as I can without spolilers!!

Leo is trans in this iteration, but he's not wearing a dress cause Splinter put him in one, he just had a ballet hyperifxation ( that lays dormant in his teenage years because he just forogt about it lmao) so he wears this ballet costume he got for halloween EVERYWHERE. Even though he is trans, Leo likes wearing dresses as a kid and he really appreciates ultra femme things as a tot (and also later once he is more comfortable in his identity). Just wanted to put that out there!

Here's a funny Casey and April doodle of April driving Case's car (she has her license but just doesn't get a ton of practice and the result is she is terrifying to ride with)

and also Leo in the backseat:

Leo has very bad car anxiety and a lot of the time when he's in a car he will have very vivid thoughts/visions about getting into an accident, so he doesn't go riding with April and Casey too often(he also refuses to drive and doen't have his license which is a whole other thing sadly )

Casey is a wonderful driver but he's a little reckless and the combination of Casey's reckless driving and his very small backseat makes for a very not fun ride for Leo. He can usually distract himself though! Leo also is a bit claustropobic- which is caused by some other stuff I can't talk about just yet ;) Please let me know if this needs any warnings- I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but I'd like to add them if they're needed <3

I said I'd work on some villain sketches tonight so I did!!! I'm not totally in love with my Shredder design just yet- mostly just the armor. I can't reveal his actual face jus tyet cause spoilers and all that big teehee

Baron Draxum, however, I put a lot of thought into his design and I actually really like what I've got so far. I decided yes actually I am going to lean into the Catholicism fuckery cause it's my religious trauma and I can get silly if I want to. Anyway his motivations have changed (not really actually)

His main goal is still to get the turtles back ( he created them with research funded by the government - they also fund the church but without proof of his research going places they've decided to no longer fund him)

It's kind of like in FMA:Brotherhood where the state alchemists have annual tests to determine whether or not their research is worth pursuing otherwise they lose their state alchemist title. It's sort of like that. Baron Draxum is a 'Catholic' priest, it's a bit warped due to being in the hidden city, but it's still definitely a Catholic church. He's also a scientist, I think in this warped version specifically they have kind of combined science and religon?

I'm still working on it.

Anyway, Baron Draxum created the turtles because he was experimenting with the mutagen, which he created.

( created from a mystery substance that the sort of underworld creatures - not sure if I wanna call em yokai yet, probably not- that birthed the hidden city creatures/mutated them way way wayyyy far back ?? again, wip onthat front) .

He originally used it to further advance his botanical studies, but then got a little silly an thought ' hmm wonder if this can change animals/humans' and yeah it can, but there's a very specific DNA trait you have to have (wip) or else it will just sort of destroy your system :/ that bit's a wip as well. Lots of this is wip stuff cause I never planned on getting so into this iteration LMAO

ANYWAY- he wasn't too impressed by Splinter because he initially didn't transform, but the turtles showed signs that they had been significantly changed. Splinter managed to escape with the turtles to the surface. He then transformed into a rat :/

Then Splinter fucking goes back to the hidden city o purpose because he knows he can have a social life there smh. Local rat man lonely so he goes back to the place where he got turned into said rat man. He's got his own issues tho-

There's more, but it's too loose to talk about soooo yeah.

I originally was gonna make Draxum a wolf, but HOW COOL WOULD IT BE IF HE WERE A WOLF/GOAT SORT OF CREATURE RIGHT????

Also Splinter thinking Casey is a ' polite young man' meanwhile April has sat in the passenger seat while he cursed out a driver many a time- it's just funny to me.

Another fact about Casey is he playfully teases Mikey and Leo, they know he's just playing and he would never say anything to actually hurt then but there have been a couple ocassoons where he has actually hurt Leo's feelings ( on accident!)

I doodle a handful of TMNT:HME stuff to post tomorrow. But here's a few now :)

Its mostly sad doodles, but I also drew some Mikey and Leo interactions cause they're the sillies ever:

Leo got Mikey into Phantom of the Opera and always has him sing Christine's part so he can practice singing in a deeper voice ( can confirm that it works btw)

Also Leo crying frustrated tears over not being able to sleep :)
