Ric Blaxill of Top of the Pops gave a telling insight into the Oasis/Blur war when they both appeared on his show in early 1996: “One of the finest recent performances on the show was Blur’s ‘Stereotypes’, just before Oasis went onstage for their two numbers. For the whole song Liam was dancing along in the crowd, he was really enjoying himself. Afterwards in the bar he and Damon were chatting away merrily, they certainly weren’t going at each others’ throats. Both bands seemed to get on very well.”
