太皷谷稲成神社 #5ーTaikodani Inari Shrine #5 by kurumaebi Taikodani Inari Shrine is the demon gate of Sanbonmatsu Castle (Tsuwano Castle) in 1773, when the 7th lord of the Tsuwano Domain, Norisada Kamei, prays for the peaceful protection of the Tsuwano Domain and the well-being of the people. It was the first time that the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine in Kyoto worshiped at the peak of Taikodani at the northeastern end. https://flic.kr/p/2kquBZ1
Motonosumi Inari Shrine in Nagato, Yamaguchi consists of 123 torii gateways and are backed up with the clear blue ocean and fresh green trees. It was rated as one of the most beautiful places in Japan in 2017. The shrine was built in 1955 for the shared tutelary deity of Taikodani shrine in Shimane prefecture Tsuwano following the order of white fox god. At the shrine you may pray for luck for sales, fishing and safe on the sea, but also for good relationships, pregnancy, luck increase, safe traffics, study results, etc. The 123 repetitive red torii gates from Ryugu wave splash go all the way up. Fun fact: The offering box is on the top of the large torii gate! It is said that your wish would come true if you manage to throw a coin into it. 📸 @criss1016 https://www.instagram.com/p/CG9voPsF620/?igshid=1wlteb09r4dau

The placing of ema is a Shinto custom that can be seen at shrines across Japan. Because there has been a lot of mixing, you can also see them at some Buddhist temples.
Ema started as high art objects, but in the Edo period, it became more common for individuals to buy small plaques to tell the gods their wishes. People usually write their wishes on the plain back side of the plaque.
Common themes are the current year’s zodiac sign, an image of a god or spirit connected to the shrine, or even a modern character or anime image.
People buy plaques for around 500 to 1000 yen, and the money helps to maintain the shrine
