Former Bhadrachalam MLA of the CPI(M), Sunnam Rajaiah, succumbed to COVID-19 in the wee hours on Tuesday. Rajaiah, who was also a leader of the Girijana Sangham, had tested positive for coronavirus a few days ago and was taken to a hospital in Vijayawada for treatment, according to reports. Rajaiah was a three-time legislator from Bhadrachalam. He was elected as the MLA in 1999, 2004 and 2014. According to reports, the former MLA is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. His two sons and a son-in-law have also tested positive for Coronavirus, and are availing treatment in Rajamahendravaram. Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao has mourned the death of the former MLA. The CM said, “Rajaiah, who worked for solving people’s problems his entire life, would be remembered by people as the political leader who led a simple life.” The CM also conveyed his condolences to the members of the bereaved family. The former MLA’s last rites are expected to be held at Sunnamvaari Gudem on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ramagundam legislator of the TRS, Korukanti Chander has tested positive for coronavirus. The MLA announced about being infected with SARS-CoV 2 on Monday through a video on social media. The MLA said that he got tested for coronavirus after Ramagundam Mayor Anil Kumar had tested positive a week ago. The Mayor and MLA had participated in the state government’s afforestation drive in Singareni Collieries a few days ago. Chander said that he has been availing treatment in a hospital, and issued a communication on the same, as rivals had accused him of being inaccessible during the crisis. “For the past 10 days, I was not accessible to you all. After the Mayor tested positive a week ago, I too got tested and the result came positive. Hence, I remained inaccessible. So I humbly appeal everyone to understand this. I will recover soon and will serve you. I made this video particularly after malicious rumours are being spread against me that I am unavailable,” Chander said. The MLA added that his health was stable. Chander was the fourth MLA from TRS to test positive for coronavirus. Earlier, MLAs Bigala Ganesh Gupta, Bajireddy Goverdhan and Muttireddy Yadgiri Reddy were infected with the virus. Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan is also under home quarantine after testing positive for coronavirus. The Mayor said that he had no symptoms of the disease and that he was reviewing the GHMC works through video conferences regularly. The Mayor said that following his recovery he would donate his plasma, and organize a plasma donation in Hyderabad.

HYDERABAD: An unemployed man has murdered his 58-year-old father by throttling to get a government job on compassionate grounds in Kothur village in India’s Telangana state.

The incident took place on May 26 where the 25-year-old M Tirupati killed his father M Narsaiah to get a job in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) PSU under compassionate grounds a few days before his retirement on May 31.

The murder plot was exposed after police officials arrested the victim’s two sons for investigation which revealed the unemployed Polytechnique diploma holder throttled his father, a pump operator of SCCL at their house in Kothur village of Dharmaram mandal in Peddapalli district on May 26.

It emerged that Tirupati’s younger brother, 19-year-old Rakesh who is an ITI student, and her mother Tara were also aware of the plan, however, they were not directly involved in the killing, reported Indian media.

They moved their aunt’s house in Godavari Khani three days before the murder when Tirupati informed them regarding their plan for murdering father before retirement.

In order to execute his plan for getting the job, the man brutally killed Narsaiah by covering the mouth and nose of his father with a towel and throttled him to death in the bed. Later, the man fled to his grandmother’s house in the same village and returned home at 3:00 pm. He told everyone in the village that his father died of cardiac arrest.

Local police officials were informed about the Narsaiah’s suspicious death when the family members were about to perform final rites on May 27. According to a Dharamaram sub-inspector, a police team reached the graveyard and shifted the dead body for post mortem which revealed the actual cause of death.

The police department also collected the mobile phone details of the suspects and took them into custody for interrogation where Tirupati confessed to having killed his father.

A case has been filed against Tirupati, his brother and mother with murder charges. The brothers have been arrested and sent in judicial remand except for their mother due to suffering from chronic ailments.

via Today Bharat nbsp; In a statement that is likely to raise eyebrows, Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy on Monday asked the Telangana government to hand over the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to the Centre, accusing the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) of mismanagement. The company is owned by the Telangana government and the Centre on a 51:49 equity basis. Speaking at a Singareni Employees Rights protection meeting at Godavarikhani in Peddapalli district, Kishan Reddy said that the SCCL had slipped into losses and alleged that the TRS was not able to pay salaries to its employees. Pointing out that the SCCL was making good profits until recently, he asked the TRS to hand it over to the Centre, if it was incapable of managing the affairs of the coal mines in the region. However, this was in contrast to the claims made by the TRS, which recently said that the SCCL earned record net profit of Rs 1,765 crore during 2018-19. Speaking in the Assembly in September, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced that each employee of SCCL will get a bonus of Rs 1,00,899, which was Rs 40,530 more than the last year's. Kishan Reddy was speaking after welcoming Kengarla Mallaiah, one of the founders of TRS-affiliated labour union Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS), to the BJP-affiliated Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS). The SCCL labour union elections, organised by the Labour department, were initially held once every four years, but in 2017, the Central Labour Commission (CLC) reduced the tenure to two years. With this move, parties in the state are gearing up for the polls, which may be notified soon. The Singareni mines are spread over 12 Assembly constituencies and four districts in the state; Komaram Bheem-Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpalli, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam. Over 50,000 workers are registered to vote. The TRS, which lost the Nizamabad MP seat held by K Kavitha mdash; Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Raorsquo;s daughter, is hoping to bounce back and prove to its critics that it still enjoys support in the region. The union polls is often a high-stakes political battle, as several MLAs and MPs are roped in to campaign for their respected unions.
