party & bullshit - cleo's pov

cleo didn't sign up for this. watching over jj and courtney was a full time fucking job. when she said "one time can't hurt" she didn't expect this to turn into his main hobby.

she guesses she'll had to update jjs favorite pasttimes: smoking, fishing, and courtney.

the party was in full swing, which in any other circumstances would be fine. except kie was looking for jj, who was no where to be seen because he was somewhere fucking the girl that is not his girlfriend.

"when i catch this rasshole i'm smacking him upside his big head."

the maybank property was not that fucking big, where the hell did they--

"heyyy kie, what's wrong?"

the other girl looked frustrated and confused, the drink and smoke were definitely not helping, "have you seen jj? i can't find him anywhere and he's not picking up the phone."

jjs a fucking idiot. "the music's loud, he's drunk who knows if it's not at the bottom of the pier."

unsatisfied, kie turns to leave, "yeah i guess you're right."

no sooner does kie leave does cleo restart her hunt, snatching a shot of god knows what out of someones hand and knocking it back. if anyone needs it, it's her.

just when she's about to leave jj to his own bullshit she remembers something.

he's drunk who knows if it's not at the bottom of the pier.

stupid cunt is on the boat. and kie's walking towards it.

she almost trips on herself to reach her, but the shot's doing it's work so she screams, "kiara!"

kie turns towards her, wobbling a little and cleo sees two shadows on the lower deck.

"i just saw him! he's looking for you around back!" cleo holds her breath as kiara seems to process the information before shouting back a thanks. by the time she's reached her cleo can smell the alcohol pouring out of her.

"thanks, you're a good friend you know that?" there's something sad in her gaze and cleo grimaces.

yikes.

she waits until the girl's back in the house before she runs to the boat, stumbling over her feet as the alcohol seems to run its course, "jj get your stupid fuckin ass up! you girlfriend is looking for you."

he was a mess--lips swollen and covered in lipstick, hair messier than usual, button on his shorts just gone.

"oh you look..." even courtney looks shocked, and she has eyeliner smudged on her lash line.

"well fuck help me out here!"

for a moment cleo thinks the circumstances are different, that she's helping a normal couple fix themselves up to avoid the japes of their friends. because even after courtney cleans his face he goes in for another kiss, and he untucks her shirt from her bra with a surprising amount of gentleness.

but they aren't a couple anymore. and she feels partially responsible for this current mess.

still, he leaves out first, now looking more party rowdy than sex rowdy, and cleo lingers back with courtney as she fixes her makeup and her hair.

"this can't be fun for you."

cleo helps her back on the deck and they watch as jj halfheartedly slings his arm around kies shoulder with one last wink to the pier as the two girls walk towards the house.

"who says i'm doing this for fun. maybe i'm just bored" courtney lights a cigarette, leaning against the wall.

cleo looks at her, and stony as her gaze may be, she can't miss the tears glittering in the low light.

the thing is. i dont believe in the concept of a "girls girl" and sometimes women just. dislike or do wrong things to each other.

its not that cleo doesnt like kie. she just likes jj. and when she first gave him the whole "one time cant hurt" convo it was really because she had no clue what to say/do and she could see he clearly needed it out of his system she just didnt expect him to keep fucking doing it. but yeah she knows how much he loves her, and she knew him and kie would crash and burn its just, unfortunately shes more invested in jjs feelings than kies. again not because she dislikes her but in moonyverse cleo comes in during kies kook year so she has a higher stake in him. and she knew realistically jj and courtney were gonna find their way back to each other and if it has to be this was so be it.

its not really out of the norm for them.
