Mandalorian Season 3 Finale SPOILERS

I'm sure that someone else has pointed this out but the scene where the ship is crashing into the base and Grogu, Mando, and Bo are still fighting Gideon, Bo and Mando instinctively cover Grogu as the fireball comes towards them.

They were going to sacrifice themselves so their foundling could survive. They were fully willing to lay down their lives for him.

This is why I believe in Bo and Mando coparenting supremacy.

sooo since everyone is talking about “what if…” situations here’s mine. this was supposed to be a meme redraw from that one scene from “reservoir dogs” but in the middle of the process i decided to make it angsty.

I hate how the season 3 finale felt so final. I heard rumors that Pedro doesn't want to be in it anymore, but idk if those are real or not. I just want to see so much more for this in-between trilogies era. If they don't make anymore Mando, I hope someone at least pitches Aftermath as a series down the road.

Mando Finale Thots (Spoilers Below Cut)

I was honestly disappointed with the Season Finale. Was it fun? Sure. Did it have everything I ever wanted for Din and the gang? Almost. But this is why I can't be happy with what we got:

What happened to Paz?? If he died this heroic death why was he never brought up again? I'm glad his son got his baptism finally but like... what about his dad's funeral?? You're telling me that Din wouldn't be mourning the loss of his childhood rival?? Either Paz isn't dead and will make a return next season in a villainous role or the writing was weaker than white people's tolerance to spice

What was the point of the Dr. Pershing episode?? It took precedence over the premiere AND the finale yet nothing came of it?? That whole episode could've been a fucking email if it wasn't that important to the season's overall plot

What happened to the armor the Armorer gave to Grogu?? It was never brought up again and you can't tell me Season 2 and BOBF Din WOULDN'T have been sobbing under his bucket upon seeing it. Also, who bathes Grogu?? Din is a parent is he allowing his son to be a stinky stank and that's how he never saw the armor?? Whack.

How could the darksaber, an ancient indestructible weapon that is capable of slicing through beskar... be defeated in a Ghetto Stomp. Either that wasn't the real darksaber or they got lazy and tossed a major SW artifact out the window because it no longer serves them and they wanted the easy way out hoping no one would notice

Why was everyone suddenly okay with Bo-Katan?? She's a racist terrorist who not once had gone in depth or atoned for her war crimes and I'm genuinely disturbed that people chose to forget that. It's like cheering on Hitler because you liked him as a person outside of his political beliefs. I wanted Bo's redemption to be fulfilling while holding her accountable cause like what the actual fuck how is anyone okay with Bo's leadership after so many failed attempts and lies

The build up was to show that Gideon is so full of himself he had to clone himself?? I doubt that was the big reveal, what they saw in the lab on Navarro wasn't Gideon. I refuse to believe they needed Grogu just to make a more OPed version of Gideon. Gideon isn't stupid why would he clone himself with powers he doesn't have when he knows he'd just overthrow himself? That was bait and I'm not buying that or that he's dead that was a clone

Whomst the fuck wasn't watching Grogu and how did he manage to save Din without being detected????

The Mythosaur deserved better. I'm glad it's getting it's centuries long nap in, but I still refuse to believe the darksaber or Din being a himbo was the reason for her seeing it and then barely remembering to mention it again in the end like if it doesn't come back I'm suing Disney

Why was Din made out to be such a damsel until it was convenient? You're telling me this man easily passed out sinking to the bottom of a historic well despite knowing how to swim and his armor being canonically light, but was able to take down half an army by himself?? Din in the finale was the Din I knew who would never have perished from just being a dumb ass not watching his step. Even Grogu conveniently using the force after refusing to all season felt cheap and you can't change my mind

It's great Din adopted Grogu and all but he still hasn't called him his son?? Just his apprentice?? We spent three seasons with everyone else calling Grogu his son and Din his father but the titular character can't?? Where was that cuddly fatherhood from season 2 and episode 1 of this season? He's been treating Grogu like a nephew at most and I just... give me my space dad back

And why did they name drop Dooku but not Satine? What were the stakes? Why is there a season 4 when there's nothing that really needs to be said or done? Going back to the space western season 1 and 2 promised is fantastic but like... at what cost? Are they going to pretend season 3 never happened? Will it all be a dream? Will the peace be destroyed and Din and Grogu need to save Mandalore themselves and the galaxy with the friends they made along the way???

All right, we have like 20 minutes before the Mandalorian season finale episode goes up, so here’s my wild-assed hopes:

Din torture scene. Din HELMETLESS torture scene?? Like, how could Moff Gideon resist? Will we FINALLY get to get inside Din’s head for the first time since The Mines of Mandalore?

I want Din to get rescued, but I don’t want the entire episode to be “let’s assemble the team!” We kinda did that in The Rescue and we know we have a team already mostly assembled. I mean, if Boba Fett and Fennec wanna show up for shits and giggles, I’ll allow it, but we don’t need like 3 scenes on team assemblage. Just get in there and get our man!

Gideon needs his ass handed to him, but he’s also so fun I don’t know that I want to see him killed. He really does chew the shit out of the scenery and I kind of love that for him. Maybe he gets away again and meets up with Elia Kane so they can plot their next move and lick their wounds. Or maybe he tries to go to her but she’s like “nah, I got a promotion” and she hangs up on his holo and turns around and BOOM, she’s working for Thrawn?? But literally please only spend a minute or two on that…

Because I need my boy Grogu to SAVE HIS DAD and kick ass and take names! I wanna see Grogu missing Din. I wanna see Din missing Grogu. I wanna see them reunite and NOT have their reunion be around a bunch of other people where they don’t get a chance to actually talk to each other. The BoBF reunion was sweet but too rushed and it was criminal we didn’t see Din and Grogu get to say hello/goodbye alone in The Rescue, even if the final scene was still beautifully bittersweet.

I want the Armorer (as long as she’s not evil, natch) to bless Din or otherwise make it clear to her tribe that there will always be a place for Mandalorians who walk the Way, but that they are no longer apostates if they do remove their helmets, especially if Din’s helmet is forcibly removed. The man does not need to go drown his ass again! I still would love to see Din comfortable removing his helmet around Grogu on special occasions. They can work around Pedro’s schedule with that still!

Who’s gonna drink the space whiskey with Din? I mean, I’m 99.9% certain it’s gonna be Bo, but while I very much like her I have no strong interest in the ship. I dunno. Maybe just Din and Greef. Or we could do like one of my fics and have it be Din and Peli! Yeah! LOL

I really don’t want to see Bo finally get everything she’d ever wanted and then get killed by Gideon or some bullshit >:( If Mand’alor the Reluctant had been the storyline all season, I’d be fine with that, but I really don’t want Bo to make a heroic sacrifice and then revert it back to Din because that would just suck for both of them. So please don’t kill Bo? AND OBVIOUSLY DO NOT KILL DIN. DON’T DO THAT. BAD. NO.

I want Bo and the other Mandalorians to be part of the rescue team, but I do not want Bo to be the first one to find him. That honor should belong to Grogu!

Just need Din and Grogu being father and son alfuckingready. How Din is still refusing to call Grogu his son I do not know. Even Paz managed it!!!!

Someone’s gotta tell Ragnar :( Maybe Grogu can sit with him or something :(

Din and Grogu. Come on. Really that’s all I need.

Mandalorian S3 Finale SPOILERS

Okay I just wanna say:

Din Grogu feels like a better name in my mind than Grogu Djarin. Like both work but I prefer Din Grogu (or Sir Din Grogu considering he was knighted)

No you know what? The fucking plant cave was a complete waste. They paid so little attention to it, it might as well not have even been there.

The idea that Mandalore was healing was a significant point earlier this season, everyone was genuinely surprised that it wasn't toxic. It was a clear symbol that the people of Mandalore were healing too, that this race spread thin across the galaxy was finally pulling itself together again, that hostilities were ending for the first time in decades. The Mandalorians could meet on a metaphorical and literal common ground.

Mandalorian flora was the next step, the discovery of native plant life on Mandalore clearly symbolized the next step, that the native mandalorian peoples were returning to their ancestral home. Yes, the plants were hidden in a cave, but they were there. It wouldn't be too long before the surface of Mandalore would be green not from the crystal fallout but from healthy, living leaves.

That last step, the Mandalorians finally returning not just to the planet, but rejuvenating the ancient rituals, lighting the Forge, should have been paired with plants on the surface, or plants in the mandalorian chambers. But no. The place with life in its damn name is still just a bunch of wet rock.

Completely fucking tripped at the finish line.

Kinda disappointed that Din didn’t recite the Gai bal manda for the scene where he takes Grogu as his son. Would’ve been awesome to see more of that traditional mando’a vows 😭

Still, beautiful scene and chapter 🫶
