Sustainable Fashion

Sustainable Fashion is using effort and mindful thinking to change the fashion industry and its impacts to help the environment as well as protecting the workers who make the garments.

There are many aspects of sustainable fashion, from what happens when a garment is manufactured, to the garment's journey of being worn and thrown away. The fashion industry produce 100 billion garments each year, and 92 million tones of clothing end up in landfill. This can be prevented by using he famous saying "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle". We can think about our clothes, what we buy, who we buy it from and how often, as well as if we really need a certain item of clothing and how often we wear something,and we could even buy second hand clothing to hep reduce the waste. We also need to consider what we do when we no longer want our garment. Instead of throwing it away, we could sell it on, donate/give it away, or even repair it if that's all it needs. Upcycling is also increasing as more people become more aware of sustainable fashion and the ideas that up cycling brings (such as using old fabric to create something new).
