I'm sorry it took me this long to get back to you. I've had a hell of a week, but now I'm ready to try and help you out with this as best as I can. You're saying you're trying to figure out how other people experience attraction. That's a very interesting question!

I guess there is conventionally finding someone pleasing to look at right? And then there is the kind of attraction to the physical features somebody might have... Like when you look at somebody and notice the specific colour of their eyes, how their lips move when they speak, the curve of their spine, the shape of their chest, the way their muscles move as they walk... and it makes you want to compliment them, or reach out and touch them.

This is mostly what I was feeling when I was looking at that picture of Liam. I was looking at the shape of his torso, his broad chest and small waist, the muscles in his legs... There weren't many thoughts involved in this. It was an aesthetic appreciation of his athletic body. A subconscious thing, perhaps wondering how it might feel to hug him or what it might be like to touch him.

There's also attraction that's based off of how somebody may treat you. Like when someone sends you a cheeky text message and it makes you smile involuntarily, makes your stomach flutter with butterflies, gives you an anticipating sort of tension in your body. Or maybe it manifests in the zip of electricity tingling up your spine when somebody leads you through a door with a hand on your back, when somebody puts their hand on your thigh. Maybe it's just a warm feeling in your chest when someone grabs your hand to lead you somewhere, or when they lean against you as you sit next to each other.

Attraction can also be when you're talking to somebody and their conversation engages you in a way that nobody else's does. When they speak and you forget to listen because you're entranced by the sound of their voice. When they give you attention in a particular way that you like. Giving you gifts, telling you they're thinking of you, remembering little things you've told them.

I think that attraction can manifest in many ways and it's very hard to figure out whether something is physical, aesthetic, personal, or maybe just friendship. You can be attracted to different things in different genders, body types, personalities... Maybe just the fact that you're questioning it at all can already tell you something about the way that you feel? I know it's easy to say, but please try not to feel pressured to have this all figured out. People, identities, sexualities, ideas,... all of these things change time and time again.
