TAM LOVES CRASS -- DAMIAN LOVES DISCHARGE -- LET'S MAKE A NOISE!!
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on Lynda "Tam" Simpson and Damian Thompson of UK hardcore punk band SACRILEGE, c. mid 1980s, location & photographer unknown.
Such an early shot of Tam, rocking far shorter hair than in her later incarnations, and she's still got some baby fat on her, too, which almost makes her look cherubic. Anyway, these shots are clearly from the same gig, and I don't know if Damian and she were in a relationship yet at this point.

THE UK HARDCORE BASSIST/ZINE WRITER WHO WOULD ONE DAY BECOME A PUBLISHED UK HARDCORE AUTHOR.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on a very young Ian Glasper, future punk rock author, playing bass in UK hardcore punk band DECADENCE WITHIN, c. 1987. 📸: ? Also featured here is issue #3 of his then very own zine, "Little Things Please Little Minds," undated, c. mid to late '80s.
"I did my own fanzine – that lasted five or six issues, which got me into putting pen to paper… everyone did a fanzine back then though, didn’t they? It was just another way of expressing yourself – I had a lot of shit to get off my chest, but I was very shy, so it was easier to write it down than scream it from the roof-tops…”
-- IAN GLASPER, former bassist for UK hardcore band DECADENCE WITHIN and overall hardcore/punk rock author

"...AND DECIDED TO GO IN A DISCHARGE-INFLUENCED, STRIPPED-DOWN, HARDCORE-PUNK STYLE THAT DOOM BECAME KNOWN FOR."
PIC INFO: Spotlight on a "drummer wanted" ad by UK hardcore/crust punk band, DOOM, and who they ended up getting was none other than "Stick," c. late '80s.
ORIGIN: "DOOM began as THE SUBVERTERS (formerly RELIGIOUS VOMIT) with Bri Doom (guitar), Jon Pickering (bass/vocals) and Jason (Hog) Hodges (drums).
Around the time that Hog was replaced by new drummer, Mick Harris (NAPALM DEATH), the band changed its name to DOOM...
This line up played one or two gigs, playing in a crossover metal style, but Bri and Jon decided this wasn't the direction they wanted the band to move in as every other band was trying to "crossover" & Bri's guitar playing was somewhat limited (still is).
Consequently they left Harris and the metal style of music, and decided to go in a Discharge-influenced, stripped-down, hardcore punk-style that DOOM became known for.
Pickering dropped bass to concentrate on vocals and Pete Nash (A.G.L.) joined as bass player. "Stick," recently made band-less, joined after a very drunken meeting (hassle) at the infamous Mermaid Pub, this was when the "real" DOOM was formed."

"....BLENDED CRUST, THRASH, HARDCORE, DOOM, AND DEATH METAL TO CREATE A TIMELESS ALBUM..."
PIC INFO: Resolution at 1080x1565 -- Spotlight on a record ad for the 30th anniversary re-release of "Behind the Realms of Madness," debut album by crust punk/metal punk/UK hardcore band SACRILEGE, originally released under the UK's Children of the Revolution label in 1985.
"Originally released in 1985, SACRILEGE were one of the first bands of the '80s that both punks and metalheads rallied behind. Propelled by singer Lynda "Tam" Simpson’s ferocious vocals and politically charged lyrics, "Behind the Realms of Madness" blended crust, thrash, hardcore, doom and death-metal to create a timeless album that has directly influenced scores of punks and metalheads alike."
