Games I No Longer Play Due to Bad Fanbases
So this is a short list (yet long blog) of games that I used to like but no longer play or have any interest in due to issues like bad fanbases. Let me just say that, knowing about just how toxic the Danganronpa fandom can be sometimes, I don’t want to lose my love for that series knowing that some people in the fandom can be untrustworthy or just have different opinions from my own. I’m gonna try my best and explain why I stopped playing these games that I’ll mention.
UPDATE: So a lot of stuff mentioned here isn't really about toxicity in these fandoms, it's more like expression my opinions about these games since I've always had a minority opinion about them, and the fact that no one ever understood how I felt is what caused me to lose interest in them. I hope I didn't confuse anyone.
Devil May Cry and Resident Evil
So the reason I’m mentioning two games first is because this actually regards Capcom. Out of the two games mentioned, one of them is a game that doesn’t really have a bad fanbase, and that’s Devil May Cry. Resident Evil on the other hand has some issues, things like the live-action film series, Resident Evil 6, and a bunch of spinoffs.
The only games in that series I ever did enjoy looking back on them are Resident Evil 4 & 5. However, I stopped playing them since I’ve become fed up with the series popularity and the fact that people were oblivious to things like the badness of the live-action film series. I actually stopped playing Resident Evil right around the time I learned about Resident Evil 6 when it was still being made and could tell just from the trailer that the game didn’t look that good. I’ve been told that there is a lot of hate surrounding that game, but I still don’t have a clear picture as to what it is people hate about it. I just hate it because I remember reading somewhere that Resident Evil 5 was gonna be the series finale and was perfectly fine with it and found it pointless for Capcom to make Resident Evil 6.
Devil May Cry on the other hand, was the series that got me into the beat ‘em up/hack ‘n slash genres in gaming. Despite the very few titles, I still tried to enjoy it while ignoring the toxicity from some of Capcom’s other games. But unfortunately, that toxicity became worse when I started to suspect that Capcom was selling out. It’s hard to try and look back on it, but basically in the last decade, I didn’t like any of the new games Capcom was releasing, and I was becoming fed up with some of the crossover games they were releasing. Examples include:
The crossover with Tekken and Street Fighter
Mega Man’s appearance in Super Smash Bros.
Akuma’s appearance in Tekken 7
The crossover with Ace Attorney and Professor Layton
The appearance of Street Fighter’s Ryu in Super Smash Bros. became the final straw for me as I was dissatisfied with Street Fighter 4 and thought that it was a piece of shit game. Looking back on it, I still didn’t get what the hype was about Street Fighter and thought that compared to my favorite fighting games like Tekken, KOF, and Soul Calibur, everything about Street Fighter 4, from gameplay to opening theme song, just didn’t make me think it was a game worth obsessing, and the upcoming releases for the updated versions (i.e. SSF4 and UST4) just didn’t feel right for me. Basically, since Ryu’s appearance in Smash Bros, I decided to stop playing Devil May Cry because it didn’t feel right to still enjoy it if I wasn’t going to like the other Capcom games the majority was obsessing over, and to this day, I still haven’t played Tekken 7 because I knew that the appearance of Akuma was gonna ruin it for me.
Getting back to Resident Evil, there’s a lot of hate surrounding the film series and although the series is over, it’s unfortunate that the Resident Evil movies don’t have Razzie nominees. I’m of course talking about the Golden Raspberry Awards, that award ceremony that gives awards to the worst movies of the year, pretty much the opposite of the Academy Awards. More to the point, the Resident Evil movies don’t have Razzie nominees, not even for worst sequel. The badness of that film series is somewhere in between the badness of Uwe Boll and Michael Bay movies, and at least their movies get Razzies nominees. So at the time, I found it unfair that Hollywood kept making more Resident Evil movies and the Razzies were more interested in nominating mixed-received movies for categories like worst picture.
Likewise, the popularity and toxicity for Capcom games like Street Fighter and Resident Evil was just too obnoxious for me to handle and it was enough to make me lose interest in Devil May Cry, as well as not play games that have Capcom characters as guest characters (e.g. Tekken 7, Super Smash Bros.). In fact, there’s times where I’m annoyed by the toxicity of memes related to Ace Attorney and the Capcom Vs series. Knowing that my opinion about Street Fighter is negative, these memes are just pretty stupid, because my opinion about Street Fighter 4 is bound to come back to mind.
Guilty Gear
So Guilty Gear used to be one of my favorite anime games and one of my favorite fighting games. There are two big reasons as to why I stopped playing it, one of them has to do with the popularity of some of Arc System Works’ other games, while the other does kinda have to do with the series’ fanbase.
First off, it was bothering me that there were times that Guilty Gear was being treated as underrated compared to not only Blazblue, but also compared to other kinds of popular anime games like Danganronpa. I’m gonna admit that I’m in the minority that prefers Guilty Gear over Blazblue, and it was bothering me that Blazblue was getting all the things games like Danganronpa were getting but Guilty Gear wasn’t, an obvious example is an anime adaptation. Danganronpa aside, other great anime games like Senran Kagura, Neptunia, Persona 5, and Disgaea all have anime adaptations, but Guilty Gear doesn’t and yet Blazblue got one. Let me just say that I didn’t think Blazblue was as cool looking or as interesting compared to Guilty Gear, and it was bothering me that things like Guilty Gear having a lack of an anime adaptation made me think that people saw Guilty Gear as underrated even though it came out before Blazblue.
Here’s something else that makes Guilty Gear look underrated. There’s a Round 1 arcade at a mall I like to go to that has a lineup of 2D Japanese fighting games. Out of the games they have, they have all the Blazblue games, but they don’t have the Guilty Gear Xrd games. In fact, compared to how the arcade also came with games like KOF, Street Fighter, and Persona 4 Arena, I found it unfair that they included Blazblue but they didn’t include Guilty Gear. It almost made me feel sorry for Guilty Gear.
Moreover, the popularity of Granblue Fantasy only made it worse for me. That game also made Guilty Gear look underrated and it too got an anime adaptation, and the fact that it’s an RPG/gacha game and not a fighting game only made it worse for me to hate the game. In truth, I didn’t see anything special about that game and not only thought it was uninteresting, but the title didn’t sound original enough to convince me. Literally, it felt like they put no effort into coming up with a good or original title, Granblue Fantasy fell flat for me. Of course, I stopped playing Guilty Gear years before Granblue Fantasy came out, so I was more upset about Guilty Gear being underrated compared to Blazblue, and the popularity for Granblue Fantasy was enough to actually make me feel sorry for Guilty Gear.
But another thing that got me to stop playing Guilty Gear has to do with fan favorite characters. Not Dizzy, but that cross-dressing nun Bridget. Not only is Bridget overrated, but his popularity just feels really toxic. It was like, whenever I tried searching for Guilty Gear stuff in the fandom, Bridget was a character fans would reference for the majority. It felt like there were times where Bridget fans would ruin the things that Guilty Gear is really all about, things like awesome rock music, awesome stage designs, references to classic rock music, and some of the other more interesting character designs. To me, it felt like Bridget fans were trying to get people to think that he’s what Guilty Gear is all about, and it was just so annoying because not only did I find Bridget uninteresting, but it was more like everyone was obsessing him all because of the fact that he’s a fucking cross-dresser.
You’re free to call me a hypocrite for saying that about Bridget. I will admit that I do like the Danganronpa character Chihiro Fujisaki. I’d rather not admit that I fell for his trap since I found Chihiro to be cute, especially when he blushes, but at the time I got into Danganronpa, I did my best to avoid Chihiro out of concern that he had the same kind of obnoxious fans as Bridget due to being a cross-dressing male. But unlike Bridget, I’m actually over the whole Chihiro gender debate. His reason for dressing like a girl is more emotional since bullying is involved, compared to Bridget’s reason which is more idiotic, not to mention that Chihiro isn’t as overrated compared to characters like Nagito, Ibuki, and Kokichi who have some toxic fans that are almost as toxic as Bridget fans. In fact, Bridget’s popularity is more on par with Astolfo from the Fate series and his fans are equally as annoying.
A minor thing, but it was also bothering me that when it came to seeing Guilty Gear Xrd content, everyone was playing the game in Japanese. No one ever bothered to play the game with the English dub. It bothered me because it gave me the impression that people could think the game doesn’t have an English dub or the game does have an English dub but with terrible voice actors. I will admit that at the time Xrd SIGN came out, I did play the game in Japanese out of concern that the game’s English dub didn’t include professional voice actors, like the ones in Danganronpa. At the time, what came to mind was the spinoff KOF game, KOF: Maximum Impact. That game has a really bad English dub to the point that no one would be familiar with their names. Let me just say that there is some positive reception to that game, but the game's bad English dub and the lack of an option to use the Japanese dub (especially in the PS2 version) makes it almost impossible to play (the Xbox version fixes this by including the option to use the Japanese dub). If I remember right, in IGN’s review of the game, they thought that the game’s English dub was “piss poor”. When I realized that the English dub for Guilty Gear Xrd has professional voice actors, I did try to take more notice of it, but felt left out because everyone played the game in Japanese almost as if they thought the game had a bad English dub.
So to summarize, these are the reasons why I stopped playing Guilty Gear. I thought that Bridget had toxic fans, there were times where Guilty Gear felt underrated compared to Blazblue, and no one played the Xrd games in English. There are actually times where I do miss playing this series, especially with how even more underrated Granblue Fantasy made it, making me feel almost sorry for Guilty Gear. The only thing about Guilty Gear I can’t let go of is it’s awesome music. I think out of the character themes from the Xrd games, the themes for Sol, Millia, and Poketim (I forget how to spell his name) are my favorites and still like to rock out to them. But the other issues here make it impossible for me to try and go back and play the series.
Super Smash Bros.
I have some little info from people who’ve admitted that the Smash Bros fandom is toxic, but let me tell you what got me to stop playing this series. Plain simple, I got fed up with having to see third-party characters take the spotlight. Not only the official ones, but the memes for the unofficial ones made it more annoying for me to handle. The fact that the latest Smash Bros games are focussing more on third-party and not first-party characters felt toxic for me for two reasons. One, they were characters from games I didn’t enjoy, and two, it felt like Smash Bros wasn’t what it used to be back when the series was exclusive to Nintendo only games.
At the time SSB4 came out on the 3DS and Wii U, I did in fact play the game on the 3DS but only for like a week. I stopped due to suspicion that Capcom character Mega Man suddenly became the overrated fan favorite. Let me just say that Mega Man is a Capcom series I’m not into, and out of the SSB4 newcomers when the game came out in 2014, I was more hype about Pac-Man being playable, especially knowing that Namco had some involvement with the game’s development, so I wanted to believe that Pac-Man would make a great guest character. The fact that Capcom games like Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Ace Attorney have toxic fanbases didn’t really give me any hype or interest for Mega Man, and the announcement of Street Fighter’s Ryu as a DLC character only made me want to hate Capcom for selling ou. Worst of all, the announcement of that Cloud guy from Final Fantasy was the last thing I needed to throw my copy of SSB4 in the trash and flame the game. Not only did I not enjoy Final Fantasy 7, but it didn’t feel right for Smash Bros to include that game partly because it came out on the PlayStation, so I’m on the side that believes that Smash Bros should only be limited to characters from games that have an importance to Nintendo’s history. Final Fantasy 7 had no importance with Nintendo’s history, and frankly, I failed to see what made the game so great, and the games popularity especially in online journalism made it so annoying for me to try to ignore it. Seriously, journalists never shut up about that game and the Final Fantasy series in general. I’ve played better.
Even with the release of Super Smash Bros on the Switch, the third-party characters from that game were enough to convince me to delete my save data for the other games in the series because these characters and their fans have destroyed Super Smash Bros for me. Some of them actually are characters from games that I thought were good choices because I admit that I actually like those games better. I would’ve loved to play Super Smash Bros as characters from Castlevania, heck, I wouldn’t mind at all playing Smash Bros with Terry Bogard from KOF. But having to deal with characters from games that I don’t enjoy such as Mega Man, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest is enough to convince me to not play the game at all. And unfortunately, I’ve never met anyone who’s admitted that they’ve done the same thing as me, that they’ve stopped playing Super Smash Bros all because they didn’t like the choice of third-party characters and their popularity in both the fandom and the memes.
Assassin’s Creed
It’s not really the Assassin’s Creed fandom that got me to stop playing this, but it’s the Assassin’s Creed series in general. I’m on the side that says the Assassin’s Creed series just isn’t the same as it was ever since AC Unity came out and yet everyone still enjoys the series. It’s like this, Assassin’s Creed games after Unity just don’t feel like they’re gonna bring back certain things from the Desmond Miles saga. There’s obviously a lot of things about Assassin’s Creed from things like story and gameplay that get me thinking that it’s not the best series to introduce to someone who loves gaming.
It’s hard to put into words really. There’s lots of things about Assassin’s Creed that don’t make it perfect, things like broken gameplay and unexplained story stuff. Yet, everyone loves the series and are just oblivious to all the big flaws. One thing that has been bothering me about this series is that to this day, Ubisoft has yet to announce a game entitled “Assassin’s Creed 5”. The fact that games since Unity don’t have numbers in the title and the lack of references to characters from the Desmond Miles saga gives me the impression that they aren’t official games but are more like spinoffs. I know that the series does have some spinoffs, it just bothers me that Ubisoft isn’t gonna make a game called “Assassin’s Creed 5”.
And don’t even get me started on the Assassin’s Creed movie. I knew just from the trailer that it was gonna be a bad movie and the fact that the film is rated PG-13, as opposed to the series being rated M, only made it worse. Just because Assassin’s Creed has things like open-world gameplay, historical figures as supporting characters, and is a game where you kill people doesn’t mean it’s the best game series. There’s lots of things about this series I feel like people often overlook such as the ancient human race and its moments of broken gameplay. I don’t think the movie mentioned anything about the ancient humans, almost as if they were unimportant.
I’m gonna admit that I actually think that Far Cry is the better series. One other thing about Assassin’s Creed that bothers me is that Ubisoft tries to sell it as if it were a stealth-action game. Compared to the stealth gameplay in Far Cry, as well as Metal Gear Solid, or even Sly Cooper, the stealth gameplay in Assassin’s Creed is sometimes unfair, especially when you’re doing a mission that requires you to not get caught or it’s game over. At least Far Cry makes things fair by letting you play the game as a regular first-person shooter, so stealth is totally optional. Not to mention, Far Cry sequels stay true by including numbers in the titles. I wouldn’t be surprised if I found out that they’re gonna make Far Cry 7, just as I wouldn't be surprised that they're not gonna make Assassin's Creed 5.
Overall, the fact that I accepted Far Cry as being better than Assassin’s Creed was the last thing I needed to say to myself that Assassin’s Creed is not the best series ever and is not as good as it used to be. Even if I played the latest installment, I’ll probably think that it’s not as good as the Ezio trilogy, which I’ve already lost interest in. It just bothers me to go online and see sites promoting the next installment in Assassin’s Creed even though I’m gonna be thinking that AC is not the best game series and the new games aren’t gonna be that good and I have no reason to play them. And did I mention that Assassin’s Creed sometimes feels like a broken mess?
In Conclusion
So to go over almost everything:
I stopped playing Devil May Cry because I was fed up with the popularity of Capcom’s other games that I didn’t like
I stopped playing Guilty Gear because people were treating it as underrated, everyone loves Bridget, and people barely played the games in English
I stopped playing Super Smash Bros because third-party characters and their memes ruined the series
I stopped playing Assassin’s Creed because the new games don’t look good to me, I prefer Far Cry, and no one else feels the same as i do
There are times where I’ll admit that I do miss playing them, but because of all of these flaws they have, there’s no point in going back to play them. As a Danganronpa fan, I honestly don’t want something similar to happen with my love for it, even after getting a better understanding just how toxic the fandom can be sometimes. Maybe I’ll blog about what got me into Danganronpa some other time.

☆ Put this star into the inbox of your favorite blogs. It's time to spread positivity!
Owo can we some more of your ocs???
WAAAAA-
also yes absolutely! i do not have any puppet OCs (yet) other than my puppetsona, so my other OCs shall have to do! this will be a bit long so i'm going to put this under a read more:
we'll start with some more fandom-related OCs! here's Miiko, a Moomins OC of mine:
Miiko is a half-moomin/moomintroll (similar to how Snufkin is half-mumrik). He's in an OC x Canon poly relationship with the Joxter/Joxaren and the Mymble! His whole thing is that they're an astronomer who writes the constellations upon maps, and he also dabbles in a bit of theatre.
I also have an MHA/BNHA OC, although I am not part of the fandom/never got deeply involved into it. I still keep her because I made her when I was going through a rough friend group and so she brings me a lot of comfort as writing and re-developing her after the events helped ease the pain I was recovering from.
She is depicted to the right (on the left is @soda-sparkss OC Miasma Bakugou), and her name is Inako Saito! She was raised by the Neo-League (a recreation of the LOV in her universe) and was experimented on quite a bit as a child. This resulted in her having an unstable quirk that constantly changes, called Quirk Shift.
This isn't really a fandom necessarily, but I have a D&D character I have yet to get a chance to use yet, but I love them to bits!
(Image by goemon on Toyhou.se / diesaur on Instagram)
This here is Kiwal! He's an avian monk who was raised by sailors upon a ship known as The Lindwurm. They very much believe in the power of friendship(tm) and they're an all around great guy! His voiceclaim is Tidus from Final Fantasy X and his themeclaim is any of Maxi's themes from the Soul Calibur series.
Moving on from fandom OCs.... onto Story/Project OCs! I'll start with a guy I haven't used in a long time:
I don't really have a reference for this version of him, but this is Bass! He started off as a Friday Night Funkin' OC a long while ago but then I changed him into an OC for a Tactics RPG Project I had in mind (similar to old Fire Emblem games or Final Fantasy Tactics). He's the Fellaen prince of an empire that worships the dragon Ouroboros. He's one of the two main characters of his story, the other being the vessel of the divine and fell dragon, Luka (whom I have 0 image references for- sorry-).
Now for an OC very close to my heart, because @soda-sparkss made him!:
(Art by @soda-sparkss, character on the right belongs to him! That is Tobias)
Keanan (depicted on the left) is a human with a love for programming, the technical side of spaceships, etc. who was stuck being a janitor on a human fleet because the higher-ups felt he was too pacifistic. One day the ship he was on got attacked by an alien fleet (specifically, a species known as Nephorites) and was taken aboard their vessel by their captain, Tobias. He ended up getting hired there >:)
Now for a character from a project you will hopefully one day see...:
This here is Lucrum Von-Aconitum, a Nephilion (species from one of my bigger projects). He's the current head of the Von-Aconitum bloodline and thus is the Grand Judge of Terrahydrus, the Underground Canal City. He is in fact a father figure and also is very corrupt (accepts bribes and whatnot in his courtroom). We love him though <3 He is part of a very, very big RPG project I plan on making one day... it will likely change a lot once I start working on it, because the story needs a very heavy revamp (really, really badly- it sucks to me as of now).
I don't want to list any of my other story OCs from that story since I need to redesign them + rewrite the plot heavily, so I'm going to show one last silly, non-story OC:
This is Kweh-Kweh. He was originally a Modern D&D OC (grung DJ bard) but now he's just a cool OC. Peep the shinji chair on his kneepads.

He's the leader of the bunch.
Well, I didn't post for a few days after the Direct. Part of it was I wanted to see all the Treehouse stuff before going over my thoughts, and then I just got busy with other stuff. I'm on holiday from work currently so I've spent a fair bit of time digesting everything. I guess to take on the elephant in the room, it sucks how expensive it is. I'm still planning on buying it (pre-ordered the console already, waiting to see whether there's some special edition or something available before pre-ordering Mario Kart, if I'm paying extra might as well go for something with extras alongside it.) and really that's all I want to say on it besides if you're angry and want to complain about it, complain to Nintendo. I personally found the 'protest' just obnoxious and not likely to achieve anything, but people are free to do as they want with that on Nintendo's livestream, what I don't like are people going after others who are excited for it, like seeing a channel with someone reacting to the Direct and barely any views with someone in the comments shouting 'DROP THE PRICE' as if this random youtuber with just over 200 views has anything to do with that, if you want to turn people off your whole thing that's the best way to do it. Anyway, that's my thoughts on the price situation, I was going to say something about the American pre-order situation, but honestly that's a whole can of worms I'd rather not touch on this blog. That's all I want to talk about with pricing in this post, this blog isn't something I made to discuss business decisions beyond trivia so everything from now on will barely touch upon the cost of things. Ok, with that out of the way, I want to go over my thoughts on what was shown.
So my predictions were pretty much off for everything. No new Zelda, no new Mario, no WWHD or other remakes/ports/remasters in the sense I was talking about. I don't believe that's it of course, in fact I believe there's probably a fair bit we know nothing of that will be announced at a Direct likely around June, July or August. For my list there sort of were and weren't some big reveals. The biggest of course for me was Gamecube for Switch online. So far it seems like this won't require a third tier of Switch Online so that's something I'm pleased with and it gives me a way of accessing some games I really didn't know if I'd be able to get around to like Chibi Robo as well as of course a way of getting screenshots for Gamecube games at last. Just for me personally as well, I was so pleased to see Soul Calibur 2 with Link there, I'm really going to look forward to playing that. Since I have no particular order I'm going over this and as it relates to a Gamecube game on my list that I also figured I was going to find very hard to track down, Kirby Air Riders is potentially very good for me. I say potentially because this all depends on what's in the game, I had the original Kirby Air Ride on my list for a couple of things such as the Dragoon as well as some alt colours for King Dedede and Meta Knight. It really depends therefore if these elements will return for this game or not, so far there's very little info to go off of. Next up for my list is probably a game I anticipated but didn't mention in my last post and at the same time didn't want and wasn't particularly excited for, which makes it ironic it's probably the only new game shown that provided something all new for my list, Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisoning. I don't know how to feel about this game, I really wanted to see a new 'fanservice' type Warriors game rather than one that's trying to be canon or an AU version of a game, but at the same time Rauru being playable means I can represent the Spirit Battle now. I am still going to check the game out, I'm curious to see what they do with it and even if I have BoTW fatigue currently, I would enjoy this as a send-off I think. My hopes for it are firstly, we see the Sages get to be actual characters, in Tears of the Kingdom they were literally generic placeholders, a real downgrade from the champions in Breath of the Wild, so having them playable is nowhere near as interesting as having Daruk, Mipha, Ravali and Urbosa, hell they didn't even get names. Of course, this does mean they have a blank slate to work with here, afterall I only just learnt today they had faces modelled under their masks, although I do wonder if they'll be radically redesigned for this game as they look like generic NPCs (or in the Goron's case have no head at all). Secondly I am looking forward to seeing what's done with Ganondorf and I really hope he's playable. It'd be interesting as he supposedly pledges loyalty to Hyrule at one point in the flashbacks if you'd actually get to fight as him alongside others before he makes his betrayal clear. There's also the aspect of seeing more of Ganondorf's interactions with the Gerudo, something we honestly have never actually seen before, with him only ever really having them in the background in scenes he's in or in other games having Gerudo speak about him but never appear in his presence. Honestly, the only other thing I wish for and something that would actually really interest me, is to have the option to create your own character for the game. The idea of being able to make your own Goron, Zora, Rito, Gerudo, Hylian or Zonai would be awesome and make me a lot more excited for this.
Other stuff shown I'll go over briefly, I have no interest in From Software stuff but it's cool for those who like it and interesting they've done an exclusive game apparently for Switch 2. The Switch 2 Tutorial game looked interesting like an interactive instruction manual till I saw it was actually something you pay for which I think was a really dumb move and I have no interest in. The wheelchair basketball game looked possibly fun as a minigame but honestly it looked way too barebones and the style looked so boring for something as an actual standalone game. I've seen people compare it to ARMS and I couldn't disagree more, ARMS had style, interesting characters, a unique world, this looked like if ARMS was done with generic robots fighting each other, sure the gameplay might be as good as before but there'd not be anything I'd find appealing at all about it. The community feature is something I have no idea about as I rarely get to play with anyone else, even now I have friends online I don't know how many will get a Switch 2 and even if they do who'd be willing to play online. I do find complaints about the frame-rate on other players screens kinda ridiculous though, I mean it's pretty clear it's an alternative to them literally being their avatar on the bottom. The camera I have no interest in, I've not really used the camera gimmicks on previous consoles like 3DS beyond once or twice and buying a whole camera to use is definitely not something I want to do. Switch 2 editions of Switch 1 games is way better than my worries of them just rereleasing Breath of the Wild again for example, again won't go on about the price for the Switch 2 editions in themselves, but I think the upgrade for those who already have Switch 1 versions seems fine, we're not being asked to buy the game all over again at least. Third party stuff was neat, I don't like the Game Key system, but at the same time as long as Nintendo themselves aren't using it it's not something I'm going to get mad over from them, granted I hope it won't be used for too many future third party games, not that I buy many anyway honestly. Deltarune Chapters 3 + 4 was a pleasant surprise though and before we saw the games here was probably my most anticipated game for this year other than Dragon Quest 1+2.
Now onto the final two things I want to cover, although they might have a paragraph each depending on how much I go into with them. Mario Kart World looks fantastic. I admit when it comes to Mario Kart I always felt like it's simply the same game but better, and with Mario Kart 8 I felt like following all the additions to it they really did need to do something new for the next one, well this looks to be the most different game in the series since Double Dash I'd say. The world looks amazing and I really can't wait to explore it, the character roster is exciting with what seems to be so many weird choices as well as a lot of longtime Mario enemies becoming playable for the first time (was shocked to find out Goomba wasn't in Mario Kart Tour, this really is it's debut.) I am hoping there's still characters we haven't seen, for one thing as much as people have come to hate them in recent years, I really feel like with so many racers the Koopalings should return. There's also the matter of the Kongs, I really really hope we see them but I do believe they might be holding off because of the last thing I want to cover, so I'll go on about it more there. Then there's the costumes, they look great and some are really surprising, granted there's some I really want to see that I don't know if we will, for example Wario seems to have a biker outfit, but I'd have loved if he got his Warioware outfit. Honestly, probably my biggest hope for this Mario Kart is something I've wanted a long time, lets see actual vehicles that have appeared in other games. I still can't believe after all these years we've not seen DK have a Minecart, Wario's not had his car from Wario Land 4 since Double Dash and his Warioware Bike since Wii. I've been even more shocked Bowser never got his car from 3D World, I mean I thought that was the most obvious choice for a Kart out there for him. Honestly, I feel fine with the Karts not being as customizable as before, but please Nintendo make up for that by giving us a lot of them. I guess at any rate, at least the Pipe-Kart returns once again, it's always been my Kart of choice. We also have the Mario Kart Direct coming up on the 17th, I'm convinced we'll see a lot more there and I really hope with Free-Roam we'll have missions all over the world, it would make this game the closest Mario Kart's gotten to doing a Diddy Kong Racing game I feel like, and if they brought back things like Bosses from previous Mario Karts this game could be something truly special.
And now, the finale of this whole thing. He's back, Donkey Kong is finally back and in a 3D platformer (well, I don't know if the genre is definitely that). I'm so excited for this, I've gone over before on here numerous times about how much DK means to me and this looks to have the potential to have everything I've ever wanted. First of all, in a follow up to my last post, I'm fine with his look now. I'll always have a love for the stuff from the Rare games, but the main deal with me is rather than wanting a rigid 'timeline' for the Mario series or DK ect, I want to see respect of what's come before, so far this seems to do that. We didn't see any returning characters besides DK in the trailer, however footage after has revealed Cranky is returning, I'm therefore fairly confident we'll see some other Kongs, at the very least Diddy turn up in the next trailer (and no, I don't believe a Japanese company cares about the exploits of a certain rapper to the point they'd delete Diddy.) I could be wrong about this of course, I really hope I'm not though, and I believe the Odyssey team (who it's obvious are working on this) have respect for the DK franchise from everything I've seen. I think the bigger question is will the Kremlings return? My initial thoughts were no, absolutely not. I will admit though, recently I've been convinced from just how much crocodile imagery there's been in the game (enemies who are skeleton crocs hidden beneath stone armour that has artwork on them that look like crocs, as well as a skeleton of a croc seen in footage that doesn't look like a realistic crocodile skeleton, more like a bipedal one with long arms) there's a possibility, Nintendo surely saw how pleased a lot of fans were with K Rool's return in Smash Bros. I'm not that confident but I don't completely discount it now like I had before. There's also the 'Odd Rock' who seems to be DK's partner character, 'exposition Fairy' if you prefer for the game. Honestly, I didn't have much interest in this character from what I saw in the trailers and footage... Next up is the final big thing for the game, however it's something that was likely unintentially leaked, but it's just too big for me to not mention. Still if you want to avoid possible spoilers, I suggest finishing reading here, I'm fairly confident what was leaked will be in a future trailer however.
DONKEY KONG BANANZA AND MARIO KART WORLD POSSIBLE LEAKS FOLLOW. STOP READING NOW IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT.
So, Nintendo Korea really seems to have leaked a fair bit lately, first there was something that I'd barely consider a real spoiler, there'll be a Rainbow Road in Mario Kart World. Still it wasn't shown anywhere else so it likely wasn't intended to be revealed yet. Secondly, here comes the big one, so that Odd Rock I mentioned who's with DK in the game, they appear on the games boxart where DK's punching down at the ground and they're floating nearby, seemingly thrown off DK's shoulder by the impact. Then Nintendo Korea put out the same artwork, but instead of the Odd Rock, there's what appears to be a young girl hanging onto DK's shoulder, a young human girl who looks very reminiscent of Pauline, the character from the original Donkey Kong arcade game. Needless to say, this is probably the most surprising and mysterious thing that's been shown of the game so far and honestly has me so excited and admittedly a little nervous. Firstly, the thing that has me nervous that I've seen people speculating, I don't believe this is actually Pauline as a child. This character definitely is meant to bring Pauline to mind to be sure, however I don't believe this is a prequel to the Donkey Kong series. I've seen certain people arguing 'there's no 'canon timeline' Nintendo doesn't care about that sort of stuff' and that's relatively true, but again this goes back to what I said before, respect for the franchise, and I'm not just talking about the Donkey Kong Country series here, this is talking about gaming as a whole. I mentioned Cranky appeared earlier, in his dialogue he clearly references different things, firstly that he rode Rambi from their 'home island' to get to where they now are, which means Rambi's an established character and they live on an island. Secondly and more importantly however, Cranky refers to how he had a rival 'in overalls' which, unless they're completely trolling has to be a reference to Mario from the arcade game. If Pauline's a child here, is that meant to imply she was a child in the original Arcade game? If that's the case we're not just 'rewriting the timeline', this is outright rewriting gaming history, the first game ever to have Donkey Kong and Mario in it.
It's due to this I personally want to believe and am really hoping that this girl is a new character altogether, perhaps a relative of Pauline. Honestly, I think this could be the best option, it doesn't make this game into some needless retcon, it still links DK back to his arcade roots, and it simply could make for a very interesting and unique storyline in the franchise. I think from what we've seen with this character having a bracelet that looks the same as Odd Rock as well as some sort of decoration in her hair that looks like Odd Rock's eyes, this girl somehow has been transformed into Odd Rock. It makes sense when you notice Odd Rock has the Void 'tape' around it which seems to suggest it's being constricted somehow. I also found it interesting when thinking this rock is actually a child who's been transformed and stuck in this strange underground world, the dialogue they have in the footage that's been shown actually does to me sound like it could be from a scared curious child. I believe personally, as with many big Nintendo games, the second trailer will be a blowout that will show us all sorts of stuff, and amongst that will be who this character is, so hopefully we can end this speculation of this game being a 'prequel' or whatever. I also believe the next trailer will very likely show some returning Kongs, and due to this I also believe once we've seen them it's then possible they could be revealed for Mario Kart World, perhaps even alongside this new Pauline looking character? Honestly, give me a game with DK the third taking care of Pauline's kid or niece, working with the other Kongs such as Diddy, Dixie, Cranky, Funky... maybe even Candy and Swanky Kong, lets get them all in here, riding Rambi and other animal buddies and fighting against King K Rool who for some reason wants to take away the Pauline kid and this could become one of my new favourite games of all time. Of course, I'm getting way too carried away here, but this is one of the most exciting games for me personally I could get, and to top it off it comes out just a couple of days after my birthday. I can't wait for this.

Anon left a letter in the postbox...
Survivalist - If your muse was tossed into the wild with no resources, would they be able to survive? If so, for how long? If not, what would eventually do them in? Gaze of Fate - Does your muse believe in Fate, Destiny, “Everything happening for a reason”, or similar concepts? Blood Raven - What is the bloodiest act of violence your muse has ever committed?

Ooooh, so many juicy questions! thank you kindly anon!
I think Link would be able to survive tbh. He's a kid from the forest, he knows what's good to eat and what isn't, he was able to carve himself a slingshot in the manga ( which I don't know if it's canon to the blog but still ), and he had pretty good endurance. I do think his natural desire to explore would eventually do him in; going where it isn't safe and having to run away from monsters and such... if that's part of the equation, I just naturally assumed you meant Hyrulean wilderness, which means monsters.
As far as fate goes, I'm unsure. He's a prophicized hero, so it would make sense that he does. I think, in both timelines, he thinks of it more as the Goddesses' Will than anything as strict as my understanding of Fate or Destiny. That's how I explain the Downfall Timeline; the Goddesses played a trick into the fight and caused Link to lose. Ocarina of Time's Zelda is called the 'princess of destiny' so it's a concept in Hyrule, but my Link isn't really of Hyrule... does the Circle of Life count as fate/destiny? I suppose the ultimate answer is yes, but it's not preordained. The gods simply decide things will happen as they come up.
Okay we're gonna talk violence now so if that bothers you don't click on the read more cool?
Cool. I can think of a couple of battles that would've been very bloody. He's also been in the events of Hyrule Warriors and Soul Calibur 2 so there's room to play around there. I'm gonna talk about a few that spring to mind and hope that satisfies your curiosity.
Starting off strong, I think the canonical bloodiest would be Volvagia's fight in OoT. He was literally smashing in the dragon's head with a hammer. Realistically that would be pretty bloody and grotesque; Volvagia's skull should be nothing but mush after all that.
Sticking with OoT, his fight with Ganondorf actually has blood in it so there's also that to put forward. I think the fight with Ganon would've been a terrible battle, with Link slowly running out of option to do damage to the best until Zelda was able to do her thing. I like to think that Ganon's tail was a bleeding, broken mess from all the abuse it took from Link trying to kill him by exploiting that particular weak spot. Cutting right into someone's head is also pretty hardcore...
Finally for this post, I'd like to say that Fierce Deity finishing off Majora would've also been pretty hardcore. Just cold butchery; slicing up the demonic mask like so much butter until it stops moving and even then stamping on the pieces until Tatl was able to snap him out of it long enough to take off the mask... this blog's interpretation of Majora's Mask goes a little darker.

Hearts for my thoughts. | Accepting | @hybridgear
You're asking me to give my thoughts about my blog? I'm putting this under a read more because I've got a bit to say. More about myself than my blog, though it does tie into it and my writing.
The rules, all the about pages, and the verses page could've looked way better than they do, but I don't know enough about Google Docs to actually fix things the way I want them. I only started using Docs four years ago, and it was mostly as basic backups for my characters' about pages in case anything happened to a blog or for the purpose of Discord RP servers.
I'm not great at messaging others either. Not because I'm shy, but more often than not because I don't want to bug. Like, over half the people on my Discord list have left their profiles on Do Not Disturb or appear offline damn near 24/7, and the messaging here is a broken, buggy mess and I don't want to unintentionally spam someone because I have no idea if a message went through or not. People are always like "no it's fine, come talk to me whenever", but I'm not going to gamble and take the chance of accidentally pissing someone off. Happened enough over the years.
Then there's my reply times. I can be slow as molasses, and I know it. Everyone knows that whole spiel about roleplaying here is a hobby, real life comes before here, yadda yadda. The issue there is I'm a space cadet with bad ADHD and an ever-shifting sleep schedule. I could be awake or asleep at any time of day depending on the circumstances around the house. I could be halfway through writing a massive draft when something as simple as a single song can derail my entire train of thought. And this isn't including all the spontaneous parts of life causing distractions either. That's why I could be here finishing dozens of drafts in one afternoon or radio silent for almost a week with maybe one post. Not much of a surprise that I constantly apologize for how late they can be.
Muses are another big problem of mine. They're all over the place, with inspiration coming and going like ocean tides. Doesn't help that music or playing a new game or damn near anything can spontaneously send me down the idea phase of creating a new one. Back when I was in the RWBY fandom, I had eight sideblogs because my mind was dedicated to thinking outside the box from the run-of-the-mill OCs everyone used. Hell, it's still a bit of an issue. Just this month, my mind's thought about adding my FF14 character to the roster despite knowing little about the lore, as well as running a trial with my revamped take on Algol from Soul Calibur 4, putting Tino back into his RWBY verse as an AU even though it'll go unused, an old OC who was based on or even secretly Dionysus, and my take on the MC of a nigh-dead MMOJRPG called Onigiri. Not gonna happen though. Last thing I want is to flood this blog with six shallow characters I came up with in two days.
Tying in with the previous bit, getting into the headspace of writing certain muses is another issue for the same reasons. It's entirely sporadic.
I can go on and on and on. Some of these things can be improved or fixed. Others, they're just personal issues. You can say I'm being hard on myself or whatever else you might think, but I'm just being honest.

So I was playing Soul Calibur and. . . My finger slipped . . . Beetlejuice has NEVER looked better!
My blog isn't typically 18+ but i didn't feel comfortable posting without a cut. Thought I am aware younger audiences do play Soul Calibur and this costume is available at start of the game, I must ask younger eyes to look away. Thank you!

I made the about me page, if anyone was interested.
Here’s the info from that page, but typed for post (bc it might not work on mobile).
Call me Pauletta (it’s not my real name, but people irl call me that, and I prefer to go with it in English-speaking social media), 24, she/her (they/them is fine as well). Currently possessed by Soul Calibur (@soul-engraver is my side blog for that), but SWTOR isn't going anywhere (and Star Wars in general).
About this blog:
This blog is dedicated to my hyperfixation on SWTOR (reblogs, memes, OCs, poor attempts at writing and just some thoughts). For any other things (aside from some important updates from the real life) there is a side blog @local-star-wars-kinda-nerd (someday I'll even start posting there!).
Rules:
Honestly, I don’t like to tell people what to do and not to do, but since I’m, you know, a person with my own feelings and opinions and don’t want to be involved in pointless and harmful arguments, I need to set these rules. If you have any questions about these, just ask.
I won’t restrict people under 18 from following me, but be warned that I may drop some light NSFW or some emotionally heavy content. It doesn’t happen all the time, but be careful.
It should’ve been needless to say, but I’ll do it nonetheless: if you have any kind of disrespect or hate towards people based on race, age, gender, sexuality, appearance, religion, nationality or anything of this kind, do not follow me.
Do not twist my words or use them out of context.
There are many different opinions on characters, stories, media content, and it’s fine, as long as you don’t attack people for having this different opinion.
I’m here just for fun (and distraction. mostly distraction these days). If you have no problem with that, I have no problem with you. It’s that simple, really :) (but if you have a problem with me, just tell me)

How to become Immortal in Soul Calibur 6
There's a nifty little trick you can do to guarantee victories in Libra of Souls Mode, though it takes a bit of crafting (and some skill) to pull off:
First off, you'll need a 3-open-slot Weapon with the following Three abilities affixed to it (I'll include the item drops associated with the abilities as well):
--Hero's Jade (Superb Quality) Attack/Defense+20% (Reversal Edge Followup Hit) --Tranquil Bloodstone (Superb Quality) Attack/Defense+35% (When HP is 30% or Lower) --Scapegoat's Turquoise (Superb Quality) HP Recovery 30% (When HP is 0)
In addition to these, you'll need to Feed your character one of two Food items prior to the start of a battle (you can buy these in the game's shops easily enough):
--Brandy (Superb Quality) Attack/Defense+40% (When HP is 30% or Lower) --Spicy Wine (Superb Quality) Attack/Defense+35% (RE Followup Hit)
Doing the math, your Base Weapon's stats (assuming you successfully won a Reversal Edge encounter) will give you a stat boost of +55% to Attack and Defense when your Health falls below 30% (the game's Lifebar has a little line indicator that can tell you when your Health is low enough).
By consuming either Brandy or Spicy Wine in addition to using this weapon effect, you'll get either +90% or +95% to your Attack and Defense stats regardless of what weapon you have equipped.
The effect will basically completely cut off all damage at the 30% Health mark, and no matter what tricks or effects the enemy opponent has, they absolutely cannot win.
And all you had to do was guess right once in a single match of Rock, Paper, Scissors!
Well, if you're not good at Janken (Reversal Edges), fear not! I've got a more casual alternative build for you:
Here's the materials you'll need for your weapon:
--Draught of Immortality (Superb Quality) Health+40%
--Draught of Regeneration (Superb Quality) Health Recovery every 1.5 Seconds
--Vampire Opal (Superb Quality) Health Recovery on Damage+20%
In addition, feed yourself either of these Food Items (You can buy them in the shops once they're fully upgraded):
--Chapati (Superb Quality): Health+60%
--Mandrake (Superb Quality) Health Recovery+50% (When HP is 0)
The Full Effect gives you +100% to +90% added to your base Health in addition to Regeneration on Damage and passive regen buff with no complicated requirements.
The enemy would have to absolutely overwhelm you to beat you with this buff, so it's actually a good build to use when you're practicing honing your skills in combat until you're confident in using certain fighting styles. You can also use a similar build on your Mercenary Servants (Weapons Under Level 90) to help ensure they carry out their mission of protecting you and getting rare weapon drops!
It's also recommended that you put the Vampire Opals on weapons with the Highest Critical Hit rating (max is 50% depending on your Light/Dark Affinity), more crit hits means more health recovery!
Use either of these builds to ensure victory against the Level 90+ Legendary enemies you come across in Libra of Souls... you'll be glad you did!

I'll probably be making highlight reels of some fighting games long AFTER they are popular... so yeah, deal with it.
Forging weapons is just something I like to DO now.

Annon-Guy: What makes or breaks a Guest Character for you?
I know you focus on the main cast and all, but when a Guest does show up, how do you feel about them?
Feel free to use the Guests from Soul Calibur as an example. I know Link and Ezio are the most well received while Yoda, Dark Vader and Starkiller get shafted on.
Honestly, I haven't had much reason to complain about the guest characters I've been presented.
In Soul Calibur's case, we actually got VERY GOOD representation for a lot of guest characters (Bandai Namco and Project Soul were pretty skillful in that regard).
I'd argue that Spawn's presence in Soul Calibur is actually dwarfed by how he was presented in Mortal Kombat 11, to be honest.
If they managed to sneak Spawn in Guilty Gear, I'd go crazy... hahaha...
Samurai Shodown's Guest characters (i.e. Baiken/Warden/etc) were "simplified" to better suit the game's mechanics, and while that's something some people might complain about... in Samurai Shodown's case, "simpler is better" in a lot of ways. Even for Baiken in that game... she felt very solid in the game itself (well maybe not as versatile as she was in Accent Core or Xrd, but those are the peak of GG, and are hard to compare to).
I'd argue Soul Calibur IV's DLC wasn't the problem... the gameplay elements and mechanics were the larger issue.
Yoda is... well he's a mild amusement... Soul Calibur IV got mixed responses on a GOOD day... but people still loved Starkiller and Darth Vader regardless.
Yoda is the "Kliff Undersn" of Soul Calibur, if you can believe it... tiny character, awkward hitboxes, silly hits and combos... but DESPITE ALL THIS... he is very lore-accurate to the films that depicted Yoda in Combat in the Star Wars series (which is funnily ironic.)
I'd argue that they could've chose Boba Fett or the Mandalorian and got a stronger response, but that's Star Wars for you.
Honestly, I'm a huge fan of Jedi Survivor and Jedi Fallen Order, but that's a different story.
Soul Calibur IV itself suffered under its own mechanics and features, the Tower of Trials it had was some of the hardest content ever seen in an SC game, to be honest... not nearly as fun as Libra of Souls.
I'd say the character DLC wasn't the problem with that game... the mechanics of the weapons and the unlockables needed more to be improved upon.
In terms of visuals though, Soul Calibur IV is still one of the prettiest SC games (SC6 wasn't nearly as bright, but it also had a lot more stable features and played at a faster pace like SCII and SCIII are better known for being).
SCIV also didn't have an extensive museum/library like SC6 does, so that right there should tell you something.
Also SCIV had a ton of guest characters beyond the DLC and many of which looked nothing like standard Soul Calibur cast, some were straight out of an anime (Angol Fear), which was jarring to compare to at the time, since most SC characters look semi-realistic.
My standard for guests boils down to how well they fit in with everyone else in the roster... if they stand out like a sore thumb but can still scrap well in a fight, I guess that's fine for some people, but for me I don't necessarily want to be embarrassed by my friends when I decide to pick a character.
Angol Fear definitely stands out, however a character like Ashlotte was inspired.

It was Ito Ōgure who came up with her design, but as a result we got the Clockwork Doll character creation template later on in Soul Calibur 6... and many fans have appreciated it.
(By the way, Ashlotte is still one of my favorite SC designs as well.)
You could argue that 2B is the "next big step" in that aesthetic and genre, though in her case it's a bit more complex.
2B is also a guest character in Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising now, which is also nice to hear, I'd argue that Granblue is the 2D equivalent of Soul Calibur (and given the staff that created the game were former Project Soul Staff, that should be obvious).
Even if Harada once stated that Project Soul had to be disbanded in order to make a game like Tekken 8 possible, I still believe that everyone who was behind Soul Calibur as a series would love to work on something similar in the future... it was that great a concept.
Ultimately, when it comes to fighting games, you have certain themes you want to make present... and when including guests in to that theme, you want to make sure they mesh well overall.
Of course, that doesn't just apply to fighting games, but to every game that has that level of potential.
Despite the fact many might consider Soul Calibur dead and buried... MY SOUL STILL BURNS.

Libra of Souls Notes / Soul Calibur 6
As a preamble to all this, let me just say this game is very addicting if you like gacha mechanics, but at the same time, once you get good weapons, the grind gets very real, and sometimes frustrating. That's why it's a good idea to listen to some music while playing the game (as the base music in Epilogue will get boring real quick).
Soul Calibur 6 really is a great game. Libra of Souls really does bring back the greatest aspects of Edge Master Mode from older games.
That all being said, I decided I'm gonna list everything I currently know about Libra of Souls weapon drops in Soul Calibur 6:
---First, Weapons will randomly spawn based on several factors: what you currently have equipped as your fighting style, or based on the most recent weapon you previously equipped.
---The game keeps track of how frequently you play using certain specific weapons, and will eventually spawn a rare "Jackpot weapon" (i.e. Three Empty slots is a jackpot).
---The game will also spawn weapons based on your inventory, either by "cloning" the weapon you currently have equipped, or by cloning specific weapon abilities that exist in your inventory. (ideally you want to get rid of all the 1-slot and no-slot weapons in your inventory to increase your drop luck)
---Most weapon drop spawns do a calculation based on the level of the opponent you most recently defeated. You can defeat a Level 75 opponent and still manage to get a Level 80+ weapon from that opponent.
---On average, the best weapon drops come from Level 90 random encounters (Something wicked this way Comes mission), but you can also get them from the Level 90 Duel missions (The Duel) where you fight Ioan (Nightmare) and Grizelda (Geralt).
---There are other Level 80+ to Level 90 encounters (Black Vortex, etc) that will not only sometimes give you high level weapons, but also add Level 90 Mercenaries in the Recruitment Agency. In most situations though, Uploaded characters can't reach Level 90 Mercenaries, and also body-size is a factor in some matches when using Mercenaries. On average though, Grizelda is one of the best Mercenaries to assist you.
---Ideally, you want to create Level 90 weapons (precisely Level 90) with the following Skills: 100% More Food / Attack/Defence+35% (when Health is 30% or lower) / Health Recovery 30% at 0. This creates a situation where any time your Mercenary's HP falls at 30% their offense and defense skyrocket and even if they get K.O.ed with 0 health once, they still retain the low health buff.
By creating this type of weapon, Level 90 Mercenaries can equip it in place of you and you can "equip" other weapons while their "Treasure Hunt Weapons" are active (giving you better weapon spawn drops).
The Attack+Defense+35% (Calm Bloodstone) Health Recovery at 0 (Scapegoat Turquoise) This combination is also really good for other weapon combinations as well. (Especially Damage Reduction +20%, Attack+Defense+20% on Reversal Edge Followup Hit, and also Health Recovery+20% (Vampire Opal), there are other variants, but I'll leave those for others to try out.
Another good combination is: Health+40% (Draught of Immortality) Health Recovery every 1.5 Seconds (Draught of Regeneration) Health Recover 20% on Attack Damage (Vampire Opal Superb Quality)
This setup creates a weapon that will heal you in virtually any situations, even during Reversal Edge.
Another good build is:
Rouge Liquid Gold Superb Quality (Soul Gauge+50%) Rouge Gold (Soul Gauge+5% on hit) Deep Dark Amber (Health Recovery+30% on Soul Charge)
This build refills your Soul Gauge on hits and every time you activate Soul Charge, your health recovers 30%, giving you more frequent access to Soul Gauge powers and Critical Edge attacks.... this build is a little tricky to get used to, however, since you can still get hit out of Soul Charge state, so it's good practice during fights.
In all these setups, obviously you need a 3-slot weapon, and there are a handful of missions that make such weapons drop more frequently.
The Ancient Weapon missions are a guaranteed starter drop, but they are limited to 20% Critical Rate.
Depending on your affinity (Light or Darkness), the maximum critical damage rate you can get is 50%, but keep in mind that high crit rates don't always mean high damage, it just means high damage is more consistent.
The affinity bonus buff automatically grants +20% to your weapon's base Crit rate at max, so say you're in Dark Affinity and equipped with a Light Affinity weapon... if that weapon's base Crit-rate is 30%, when you equip Light Affinity, it'll max out at 50% (not including Crit-rate buff food items).
Your Affinity bonus can get maxed out by Zasalamel in one of the last missions in Epilogue, but if you choose the response "I don't know" then your affinity won't be maxed, it'll just make it easier to swap affinities for your character (though it's actually easier to just make a Light and Dark affinity character on separate save files, since your characters share their inventories anyway).
Every time you defeat Inferno (in one of the Chapter 5 missions prior to Epilogue), it will always drop a 100% Food item (Hellfire Magma).
Inferno in Epilogue after clearing several Ancient Weapon missions will drop the 100% Gold Item (Hellfire Lava) and the level 99 Inferno drops 100% EXP (Hellfire Ash) with every "loop" of Libra.
You only really need one Hellfire Ash item and there's a random chance a Level 15 enemy will spawn in Epilogue and they drop Level 5 weapons you can put the Hellfire Ash item on to start fresh for the next loop of the game.
Ideally for farming Gold you can just equip the 100% Gold on a Level 90 weapon and just farm the Astral Fissures in Epilogue, you'll get double the amount of gold you need, but most Gold is better spent on recruiting mercenaries and eventually items like Cursed Cult Oil (Health+35% on Damage) and Mandrake (Health Recovery+50% when 0) which you can use on your mercenaries to farm weapons and do most of the work for you.
The highest level weapons are Level 96, with a max damage output of 730 Attack Power, though they often have a lower Crit-rate, they are still very reliable if they have 3 empty slots to make your own weapons with.
There are also single-slot weapons with a 250% (800+ attack power) damage max output but I find them less reliable.
The more weapons with abilities in your inventory (or even weapons with the "same abilities") in your inventory, the more likely you'll get useful weapon abilities to recycle for forging.
Also, I recommend sorting weapons by Attack power rather than Crit rating, as weapons with Lower attack power can be recycled in to better weapons.
Finally let me also say that once you start summoning Ancient Weapon missions, it's a good idea to keep them out for a while instead of clearing them right away, as they maintain the spawn rate of rare enemies in the area, so long as a Level 70+ enemy mission is active, you'll get good random encounters in the area.
After so many loops, I just summon them all and leave them out until I want to make a fresh "loop" of the game.
There's also a "Sweet spot" next to Africa in the Pacific Ocean area of the map (between Africa and India) that is ideal for Level 90 Enemy encounters for rare drops...
FINALLY, here's a good list of counter-pick matchups for Mercenary encounters (counterpick will help you decide what mercenaries you want to use against certain fights):
---Voldo (Atk/Evade): Counterpick is Defensive/Melee/Balanced (He's strong against most characters, but especially strong against slow attackers like Nightmare, also good against Geralt) ---Nightmare (Attack): Counterpick is Defensive/Balanced (He has lots of revenge attacks, so he's good in melee situations) ---Cervantes (Balanced): Counterpick is Defensive/Ranged (Balanced but uses a lot of counters and break attacks, not favorable against defensive characters) ---Maxi (Melee): Counterpick is Attack/Ranged (Likes to use Low mixups and break attacks, not good against balanced) ---Taki (Melee): Counterpick is Attack/Ranged/Balanced (likes to use Reversal Edge traps and run around opponents) ---Geralt (Balanced): Counterpick is Defensive/Attack/Evasive (very annoying, very meter based, best overall ally in the game though) ---Siegfried (Balanced): Counterpick is Attack/Ranged/Evasive (slow but powerful defensively, best to use Mandrakes on this style for death recovery) ---Sophitia (Defensive/Melee): Counterpick is Attack/Balanced/Ranged (very annoying to fight against up close, but also really good counterpick against Geralt enemies) ---Groh (Balanced/Melee): Counterpick is Attack/Ranged/Evasive (throws a lot and likes to circle) ---Song Mina (Ranged): Counterpick is Defensive/Balanced (hard to take advantage of reversal edge, so don't bother, has guard impact moves that she likes to abuse) ---Azwel (Ranged): Counterpick is Defensive/Balanced (very aggressive on offense, but can be easily dodged/parried) ---Tira (Atk/Evade): Same as Voldo (very annoying and likes to dodge attacks and counter, gotta lock her down with horizontal attacks to beat her) ---Talim (Atk/Evade): Same as Voldo (runs away a lot and abuses low mixups, not very strong but still useful in some situations)
---Zasalamel (Ranged): Same as Mina/Azwel (actually good in melee up close but makes a lot of mistakes so not very reliable) ---Mitsurugi (Attack): Counterpick is Defensive/Balanced (very aggressive, will murder you if there's a wall nearby, very good against Geralt/Sophitia, try not to get tricked by his Break Attack mixups) ---Astaroth (Melee): Counterpick is Ranged/Attack (don't use Balanced as he will grab your mercenary a LOT). ---Kilik (Balanced/Ranged): Counterpick is Attack/Melee (Is actually pretty defensive so long as they don't have meter, will "pop" easily if they have a full Soul Gauge, so be careful with the weapons you give it.)
---Xianghua (Counterattack): Counterpick is Ranged/Melee/Balanced (Xianghua enemies are annoying as they read inputs on aggressive mercenaries, but a good melee type will wreck them easily... Nightmare and Kilik styles also works.)
---Yoshimitsu (Attack): Counterpick is Defensive/Balanced/Ranged (Almost as aggressive as Mitsurugi, but likes to abuse low mixups and throws, will almost never fall for Reversal Edge)
---Raphael (Defensive/Evasive): Counterpick is Balanced/Defensive/Ranged (Actually very aggressive, and very annoying, will charge in with thrusts and throws any opportunity they get, still, actually one of the best Mercenaries to hire in most situations, topped only by Geralt) ---Ivy (Ranged): Counterpick is Defensive/Balanced (Very annoying, loves to run away, often spawns during poison missions)
Anyway that's it. If you play Soul Calibur 6, I hope you find this useful!

Movelist Lore
One of my favorite aspects of Fighting Game Lore is the creativity through which characters are sometimes built.
In Soul Calibur 6 in particular, you'll come across Heishiro Mitsurugi and he has a literal "history" of dealing with projectiles, which resulted in a particular "Revenge Attack" by the name of "Tanegeshima Terror" (it's an attack that automatically counters with a revenge super-armor attack whenever Mitsurugi gets zoned out by projectiles in his Relic stance).
But the fun part is, in the older Soul Blade title, Mitsu actually faced OFF against a Tanegeshima (old word for Japanese Rifles) in an exhibition match and nearly got killed, even has a huge scar on his chest now where the bullet hit him on his character model.
But that's not the only neat thing… Maxi, a character who later appeared in Soul Calibur lost his family to a raid by Astaroth, and his famous line is "I will have my REVENGE!"
But here's the fun part: In his movelist, you wouldn't notice anything amiss at first, until you look at a certain attack by the name of "Iron Dragon". Funny thing about this move, Iron Dragon also means "Tetsuryu" in Japanese which is one of Maxi's weapons in the game… but that's not all… this move has a special property.
Iron Dragon will literally cause a Lethal Hit on Revenge Attacks (Super Armor Moves), making many of Astaroth's Armor Grabs very "vulnerable" if you know what I mean… He really DID get his "Revenge" didn't he?
