Small Steps
@rkxminhee
It’s not supposed to be like this anymore. He’s not supposed to be the one struggling at the back of the class, especially after having gotten through January’s evaluation.
And yet, here he is. Utterly unable to keep up with the new, complicated dance routine they’d been set with. Moonbok can’t stop his face from burning red whenever the coach calls him out for making a mistake, can’t bring himself to look at any of the others.
He doesn’t know what he dreads more; them laughing at him or their looks of pity. Both make him want to throw up.
When the class (finally) ends, Moonbok stays seated at the back of the room as the rest file out, forehead resting on his knees. He starts a little when a hand gently touches his shoulder and for one minute he thinks it’s Jihyo, so he doesn’t bother to hide his slightly teary eyes as he looks up. Only to be utterly mortified when he realizes it’s Minhee who’s stopped to speak with him. Quickly, he swipes his hands across his face under the guise of wiping away sweat and looking at a spot over Minhee’s shoulder, rather than at the older girl herself.
“...s’ok, Noona. You don’t have to wait for me, I’ll be there in a minute...” he whispers softly, fingers tightening around his sleeves.

Keeping Time
@rkxminhee
To Moonbok, timing had always been crucial. Whether it be as a first aid responder in order to save life or limb, or when writing lyrics to keep tempo with the music he’d been given. Even when it came to getting home in the evening, he was a stickler for good time-keeping skills.
Which was why he was a flustered mess as he tried to get to the meeting point in Hongdae that he’d agreed with his prospective collab partner, painfully aware that he was running late. To most people, being five minutes late was just about remarkable, perhaps used as a teasing jab. For Moonbok, it was nothing short of a disaster and he cursed himself under his breath for dawdling in the University earlier.
That said, he’d been stunned when a trainee, from Sphere or all companies, had found his youtube video in which he’d (half-jokingly) asked if anyone would like to collab with him before the year was out. So he supposed some of his lateness could be attributed to having a fit of nerves and ducking back into the campus to panic.
Which was probably worse than something like the bus or the train being late.
Finally reaching the assigned meeting place, Moonbok doubled over, hand on his knees as he gasped for breath. Trying to get his breathing back to normal as quickly as possible, he let out a breathless noise of surprise at the soft tap on his shoulder. Eyes flying open, he met the concerned gaze of Joo Minhee and he hastily bowed probably to her before straightening up again.
“Mi-Minhee noona! Sorry....sorry for being so late, I didn’t... I didn’t mean to keep you waiting!

It’s June 2nd when trainees are called to hear what exactly was prepared for them this month. The coaches tell them they will be grouped with their company mates this time, separated by gender except for Nova who’ll get to work all together. The challenge sounds easy: choose three of your company seniors’ songs and perform them. Don’t worry, only dancing is asked this time! The only trick seems to be their evaluation performance is scheduled for the following week, June 9th.
When the day comes, the trainees start their performance as it should be, but are soon surprised by the catch. The coaches warned them right before they started to keep performing no matter what happened, and, unlike a few months before, the song does not stop. Instead, it skips ahead, and a few moments later changes to your second song. Maybe it takes some time for the trainees to notice, but what they’re going through is the famous Random Play Dance. They’re expected to adjust their formation and continue dancing to which part of the song is playing.
Once the game finally comes to its end (maybe after tricking the trainees into thinking it was over a few times before), the coaches announce the real evaluation for the month. It’s a variety month, and everybody will have to do their best to impress. With the first week going by, trainees are assigned their second mission. They’re told to practice or discover one or more personal skill to show on the following Sunday, the 16th, in front of all your company mates. This can be anything from a weird trick you can do with your hands, imitating animals or anything you think could impress. They’re told languages and instruments are off-limits. Remember that this is supposed to be variety, so don’t go for anything that’d leave a possible fan uninterested!
The third challenge is something that anyone aspiring to do well with variety should know how to do. During this week, the companies will receive the visit of comedian Shin Beomsu to talk and show a bit of how improv works. On the 23rd, they’ll be grouped to work on a scene they will only learn the theme of on the spot. Everybody will gather at their own company’s auditorium and, as the coaches call your name, you take the stage with your new partners and do your best not to get out of character or too boring. Treat your labelmates watching you as a real public and make sure they’re entertained! A list of the groups and themes can be found below the cut.
Finally, when the fourth week comes, the coaches keep it with an air of mystery. The only hint is that they should work hard during gym workout but, apart from that, the only real information comes on d-day, June 30th. At the very last day of the month, exactly at 2pm, all trainees are called into the gym for their final evaluation of the month. Each one of them receives a special vest to put on with a single white line on the back. The challenge is announced quickly, and most people would probably understand it right away. They’re told to take their name tags at the exit with the coaches and then hide somewhere because they’re about to re-create an episode of Running Man inside their building. They’re told that, at exactly 2:30pm, the game starts.
Once everyone is sent running and the time hits, the game will start. Whoever gets their nametag ripped from their back will have to return to the gym and wait for the final results. Trainees are expected to make it fair and coaches will be roaming around the building to make sure no one gets hurt. They are also told to avoid getting near their CEO’s office as the off-limits area. We’ll announce the winner OOC on the 1st of July.
In order to collect +2 POINTS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH and +2 DEBUT POINTS, write one 250+ words solo or a four post thread with another trainee involving any preparation this month’s evaluation. [ warning: discussions of physical fitness ]
With intense practice and event schedules dominating an idol’s life, staying fit as well as maintaining a visually appealing appearance is but one of the major keys to an idol’s long-term success. Not only does “looking good” adhere to the aesthetic wishes of the public, but building up one’s stamina avoids many serious injuries idols are susceptible to when they spread themselves too thin.
On October 31st, all trainees are to gather in the Seocho Complex to undergo a physical fitness exam! All trainees will be separated into five alphabetically-sorted groups and the groups will rotate between five designated fitness areas for the duration of the exam. Group A will start at Area 1, Group B will start at Area 2, Group C will start at Area 3, Group D will start at Area 4, and Group E will start at Area 5 for the beginning of the rotation. Each area should take a maximum of 30 minutes for all trainees to complete that area’s fitness requirement.
After the time limit is reached, all groups will rotate to their next area, meaning Group A will move to Area 2; Group B will move to Area 3, and so on. The test will start at 3pm and end at 6pm, with one break at 4:30pm so everyone may relax before continuing on. Before the evaluation begins and once it is concluded, trainees are expected to follow their regular company schedules.
In order to collect +2 DEBUT POINTS and +2 POINTS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH, write a four post thread with another trainee from your designated group about the evaluation day. For +1WK RELEVANT SKILL, +2 DEBUT POINTS and +2 POINTS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH, write a 250+ word solo about your muse going through at least one of the test areas. All posts must be tagged as #rkoct17eval and be up by midnight EST at the end of October 31st, 2017. Threads may be continued after the deadline, but points can only be collected if the requirements are met before October 31st. Remember to use proper warnings when writing about weight and/or body image for our members sensitive to those issues!

The entertainment world is constantly changing to fit the public’s wishes and idol groups are no different. This month trainees will be arranged into groups and they will be swapping sunbae songs with trainees of another company. What does that mean? Trainees of different companies are covering each other’s sunbae artists! Each company is known for having their own style, so this month’s evaluation will focus on a change of concepts to serve as a test of versatility to see how each trainee will do outside of their typical style.
Not only that, but on the last day of the month, groups covering each other’s sunbae artists will gather in Seocho’s theaters and perform in front of coaches from both companies and the trainees whose sunbaes they will be covering. Make sure you meet the expectations of those who know the artists’ whose song you’ll be performing better than anyone!  You will not only be evaluated on your performance skills, but also on your capability to express the concept of your given song.
For +2 SKILLS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH, +2 DEBUT POINTS and +1 WK RELEVANT ACHIEVEMENT, write one 250+ word solo about your muse’s performance for the evaluation. For +2 SKILLS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH and +2 DEBUT POINTS, write a four post thread with a member of your group about the preparations for your performance. For +2 CHARISMA and +1 DEBUT POINT, write a four post thread with someone from a group your trainee swapped songs with or a 250+ word solo about your character watching the other trainees cover your sunbaes. Please tag all related posts as #rkjune17eval and have them up before midnight EST on the end of June 30th, 2017. Threads may be continued after the deadline, but they will only be considered for points if the requirements are met before June 30th.

Group and song assignments under the cut! Any groups receiving band concepts do not necessarily have to play instruments, they can just mime playing it for the concept, but if they’re able to play they’re welcome to. Back up dancers will not be included in this evaluation, so any choreography including them will either be covered by the trainees or modified to be done without them.
