Do you listen to music (or tv shows/films/anything else) when drawing?

🎤 yup! usually music~ mostly pop 🥁 usually, i am either listening to music or rewatching my favorite tv shows while i work. 🎷 I listen to music or watch videos while I draw, usually for background noises but when it comes to music I like it to listen to certain genres and themes to keep my mind at a creative mode. 🎺 I'm big into music, I believe that it can influence how and what I come up with. A lot of the times I will have a specific playlist for a piece just so I can keep a consistent mood through out a piece. If I want to have a neutral setting while I work, I usually just throw on a murder mystery documentary and get to it. 🎸 All the time! It helps me focus and relax at the same time. Sometimes a song can inspire me to draw through art block as well. My genre of music can go from pop to hardcore rock, then back to instrumental and indie, in many different languages as well. 🎻 I do! It's helpful background noise.

What’s your favorite music artist/band? If you could ask your favorite band/music artist one question, what would it be?

🎤 A Crow is White has been a favorite for a while now~ i really love their whispery vocal style~ 🥁 i would simply ask stevie nicks for her best witch tips. 🎺 This may be unbelievable, but I don't have one particular absolute favorite artist/band. I love so many different types of music it is so hard to pick one favorite. I guess if I really had to pick *one* I would pick Ella Fitzgerald. I would love to ask her what it was like to be a woman of color making a living as a jazz artist in the era that she lived. 🎸 I have too many to list, but if I could ask one question to my favorite musician, then I would want to know what inspired them to make a song. 🎻 Yoko Shimomura! I wonder how she always seems to make dynamic music

Do you play an instrument? If not would you like to play one? Which one?

🎤 nope but i've been interested in picking up bass~   🥁 i have been teaching myself the ukulele the last couple years! my favorite songs to play are “f*ck was i” by jenny owens young and “us” by regina spektor. 🎷 I don't play any sadly haha 🎺 Sadly, I am not able to play any instrument. I just completely skipped that in school. I think I would really love to play the guitar or banjo. The guitar because it is an instrument thats sound really excites me in music. And the banjo because it is notoriously hard to play, so it would be cool to say I could. Maybe even a hurry-gurdy. Who knows. 🎸 I used to play the electric piano back when I was young, but not anymore. If I wanted to learn an instrument again, I would like to play an electric guitar because of guitar hero. [LOL] 🎻 I actually played multiple instruments in middle school. They were all percussion instruments!

What do you expect from this zine?

🎤 i'm really curious to see the variety of music~ Maybe i'll find a new favorite band! 🥁 i expect to hear a lot of cool music that i have never heard before! and also push myself to work outside of my comfort zone. 🎷 The wonderful pieces everyone will be making with the songs they have chosen and even listening to some of the songs they had picked! 🎺 Just to have a whole lot of fun and discover some new music. Maybe even make some new friends in the art world. 🎸 I am excited to see how everyone interprets their favorite songs through their own means. I also thank you for letting me be a part of it as well. Meguro Masaki and Hayami Masaki definitely do- Meguro specifically like their B.O. He prefers their natural smells. He can sniff and smell them all day long. If he could make a candle out of their body odor, he would. Both boys will bury their face in their S/O’s hair and inhale deeply.

Raian, Hollis, Reiichi, Karla, Fusui, Alan, and Edward- pretty much all Kure/ Wu- the scent of their S/O alone is enough. They come to love and crave the smell of their S/O. 

Wakatsuki secretly does. When his S/O is not home or away he will secretly smell their clothing and maybe their underwear. He finds their smell intoxicating and addicting. He can’t get enough. He likes the after-sex smells- he’ll bask in the afterglow. He enjoys the way his S/O smells.

Yumigahama absolutely had a scent kink. He sniffs his S/O’s underwear. He’ll carry a piece of their clothing around in his pocket and sniff it when he misses them. When his S/O is away he’ll sleep in a pile of their laundry. He also unapologetically masturbates with their underwear

Lu Tian and Ohma go feral when they smells their S/O while they’re all sweaty. The natural smell of their S/O make them go crazy.

The Rolon Donaire fight ended kind of generically. I get that he’s supposed to be a full rounded fighter who employs simple fighting styles and but also has unique twists to keep his opponents on his toes, but that’s not really expressed well in the fight. Call me a baby with no reading comprehension (panel reading comprehension?) but I wish the manga was less subtle about his supposed genius.

So far Jurota vs Masaki Hayami was the only fight where I really understood that Purgatory was really all that formidable (Monkhbat, Lu Tian, and Fei Wangfang don’t count since they’re “worms”)

You’re welcome! And I’m also a big fan of NightS! I can never decide if Karashima x Masaki are my second favorite Yoneda Kou couple, or Onoda x Deguchi. So they share that spot in my heart.

The only reason why I gush so little about them on this blog is because unfortunately their story is already finished and also waaaay too short if you ask me. But Masaki is probably my favorite type of uke: confident in an unobtrusive way, sexy as hell, mysterious & seductive, has his seme twisted around his little finger, and appreciates some dick like a good whiskey. And Karashima is just precious. I want to adopt him! He’s my baby!

The “TenTen” comes from the NightS doujinshi.

Masaki can’t remember (or pretends he can’t remember) Karashima’s Chinese name, except for the “Tian” which is written with the character for “heaven” 天 and pronounced ten in Japanese. So he quickly makes up the nickname “TenTen” which Karashima doesn’t like because it sounds like a panda name. XD

It’s during the scene where they drink together after Karashima sneaked into Masaki’s apartment.

Oh, and since this is a rare chance to fangirl about NightS … The last scene of the doujinshi is one of my favorite scenes ever and shows what an amazing storyteller Yoneda-sensei is! Masaki told Karashima the night before that he would be in wanting-to-get-spoiled mode until 6:09 the next morning. But then we see him sitting naked in his chair that morning unable to take his eyes off the sleeping Karashima, although the clock already shows 6:11. And we know that he has an important job waiting for him that day. God, I love this!! There are no love confessions or anything, but Yoneda-sensei always finds these subtle ways to convey her character’s feelings! She’s simply amazing! I should have thought of that scene for the Yoneda Kou Survey last summer (although, since it’s from the dj I guess it wouldn’t have counted anyway).

I did so much research on this topic. I’ve learned so much about circumcision. So circumcision is actually really rare in Japan, less then 11% of people in Japan are circumcised.

The topic for some reason fascinated me so much that I read “Male Circumcision in Japan” by Genaro Castro-Vázquez. I also read many articles and papers on circumcision around the world. In Asia, Europe, and Oceania only the really wealthy would get circumcised. I also come to find out it’s only really popular in North America and Africa. According to BMC’s population of health metrics 71% of people are circumcised in America, compared to Japans 11%.
