Friday and I skipped the tie today going for a bowtie instead. Not that I mind wearing a tie, but it is fun to mix it up with a bow tie as well now and then. Together with a oxford shirt and a cardigan. Two other of my favourite things to wear. I really enjoy this semi-academic look, not that I ever had much of an academic period, I read some courses but that’s all. A simple puff fold on my pocket square and a overhand knot on my scarf. Thursday and my week wearing business ties goes on. This time with a bigger knot, a Plattsburgh knot which is basically a reversed full Windsor that I might have gone for earlier this week. I needed a larger knot due to my collar being quite spread. At first I was thinking that my tie would be too thick but it was alright. But my dimple might need some work. Been thinking of getting a few tiepins and tiebars. I am not a big fan of jewlery but I would like to try at least. Becoming even more dandy. For my pocket square I tried my hand on a winged puff fold. Not one of my regular but wanted to try it. Looks a bit like one of my favourite folds, the scallops fold. Wednesday, the middle of the week and a day with some meetings ahead, stepping up my tie game once again this week, hopefully this will be the new standards of my ties. Tied it off with a St Andrews knot which has become one of my staple knots. My goal is to learn at least twelve tie knots, how to tie them and name them as I tie them. Why? Because it is funny. My pocket square is folded into a Dunaway fold. As usual blue pinstripe shirt, brown merino sweater and blue sports jacket along with grey dress slacks and brown winter boots. Trying to break in these. Been starting to look into aquiring a tuxedo, a black tie ensamble, really would like one. Planning to use it at least once next year, but I don’t want to rent one and I don’t want one that is just not below premium. Went to the tailor yesterday to get some alterations to a pair of suit trousers and it went well. Tuesday and I really could use any energy I can right now. Got a major cold in my throat but the show must go on, business as usual. So I took on a business tie and tied it with a Pratt knot. Got my winter boots on as well, cold today. A small victory as I turned in a pair of suit trousers to the tailor asking him to make them longer which was possible. Will make for a really nice semi casual suit.
