This One Song… The Wytches on Unsure
Tell you what – we love hearing from artists when things go right. We equally love hearing from artists when things go dreadfully wrong. A song that was a piece of piss, written in 20 minutes? Or years in the making and a bastard to write? Whether it’s a song that came together through great duress or one that was smashed out in a short amount of time, we’re getting the lowdown from some of our…

Chitarra, basso, batteria e voce.

Tracks from the Top Ten Blogged Bands are played  every Sunday 5-7pm on Radio KC as part of  Ralph's Indie Show...listen back here...     THE NEW CHART - 21.1.17
No 1: The Cliftons
Ralph's favourite video this week is Scarlett by Aberdeen band The Cliftons.
The Cliftons have supported luminaries such as The Bluetones and Man Made plus headlined at venues such as The Lemon Tree. The Cliftons are also set to release their follow up EP on January 21st with a hometown show in Tunnels.
No 2: La Fleur
The focus of this week's feature articles on Ralph's Life is firmly on the burgeoning supply of quality Indie music in Scotland currently. With Sunday's Indie Show on Radio KC containing over a third of the tracks played from Scottish based bands and artists, it seems there's a bit of a tidal wave about to swamp the rest of the UK.
One case in point is young (they're so young they cite Catfish & The Bottlemen as an influence) Wishaw band LAFleur. They're only a couple of years into their musical journey together but are rapidly managing to attract the right kind of attention.
No 3: Rob Jarvis and The Mercury Sons
Essex based Alt Rockers Rob Jarvis and The Mercury Sons are due to release their debut single Just To Make You Happy on the 17th of February.
It's already had its first radio play on the Kerrang Fresh Blood Show and needless to say Ralph will be giving it a pre-release spin on his Radio KC Indie Show soon.
No 4: VITO
Hailing from Newcastle, VITO are four young men with their sights firmly set on achieving greater notoriety than just gigging around their local stomping ground in the North East.
They offer - "a 'no-frills' ethos, focusing on raw, dynamic performances" and "have a flair for compelling lyrics to accompany their upbeat riffs, creating poignant messages through tracks that pack a punch."
No 5: Quigley
Ralph's first featured single of 2017 is Watch With You and it's the latest release by Gloucestershire Indie rockers Quigley. The track was produced by Luke Oldfield (yes, it's Mike's son) at Tilehouse Studios and mastered by top dog, Pete Maher.
Quigley are back in the studio this month under the watchful eye of none other than Justin Broad who produces Jessie J and Raleigh Ritchie amongst others to numerous to mention.
No 6: Fighting Caravans
Ralph's favourite video this week is In Sicily by Fighting Caravans a 6-piece Alt Rock band from Leeds.
Likened to QOTSA, Fat White Family and Grinderman they've had a very successful 2016, including performances at several festivals including Reading & Leeds and Sound City in Liverpool. The single In Sicily is released by Fighting Caravans on Christmas Day.
No 7: They Called Him Zone
It's nearly a year since Ralph played the lead track Miami from the eponymous debut EP by Bradford's dark and mysterious electro-pop outfit They Called Him Zone on his Radio KC Indie Show.
OK, OK, they're not that mysterious as I can tell you the band are - Mik Davies on Vocals, Drone and Production, Steve Maloney on Vocals, Guitar and Production plus John Bradford on Keys and percussion when playing live.
No 8: IST IST
Ralph's favourite video this week is Silence by Manchester band ist ist.
Spotify: Silence, released 13th January 2017 in association with Scruff of the Neck Records Silence written and performed by ist ist:
http://twitter.com/ististmusic http://ift.tt/2jozpLy... ististmusic.com
No 9: Inego
Ralph's favourite video this week is Exiled Love by Manchester band INEGO.
Available now from all good download stores. Produced by Gavin Monaghan and engineered by Joe Murray at Magic Garden Recording Studios. For part one of the story click here - youtu.be/__QthXPqgo8
No 10: One Eyed Wayne
It's been a couple of years since One Eyed Wayne first graced the hallowed pages of Ralph's Life with a review of their then newly released single After The Break.
Well the good news is that the track features on the shiny new One Eyed Wayne album Attack Of The Luxury Flats.
It's 10 tracks of pure punky feelgoodness a la Blockheads with a bit of Wreckless Eric and a bit more of that UK Subs vibe that graces After The Break.

It's always nice to get out on a road-trip and when the chance presented itself to catch The Boston Shakers as support to Xander and The Peace Pirates for their album launch in Liverpool it was too good an opportunity to pass up.
The Boston Shakers closed the recent Ralph's Life event for Musicians Against Homelessness in St Helens and very nearly brought the roof down, so it was going to be interesting seeing them do their thang in a sold out Cavern Club.
