Romblon is an archipelago province of the Philippines. It is located in the middle of the small Sibuyan Sea which separates Luzon from the Visayas. We stayed at Balai Azinan Resort in Calatrava, Romblon. Balai Azinan is a very cozy place to stay in. It is a loft type bedroom and it had all the things you needed. It wasn't cramped and it had a balcony. Outside, there was a pool and also a beach. We also went island hopping. We went to the Talipasak Beach, Tiamban Beach, Tinagong Dagat, Cobrador Island, Cresta de Gallo Island, Carabao Island and last but not least, Bonbon Beach. The citizens of Romblon are very generous and welcoming from what I have experienced here. Everywhere we went, the people we met were accommodating. For me, going to Romblon was a refreshing experience. Everywhere we went, it was clean.

Hidden Beach
Back in 2012, I was given a chance to go boat riding around the small islands off the coast of Sipalay, Negros Occidental. The place was so secluded that local people aptly call it Tinagong Dagat (Hidden Beach).
It's beautiful and peaceful out there where one could only hear the gust of the wind, the soft trickle of the waves and the occasional cries of the birds. Its stillness was shattered only by the sound of the fishermen's motored bancas. We saw a few nipa huts in some of the islands and most of them were empty. Maybe they serve as a resting place for the fishermen. We saw a few of them minding their nets in the clear and shallow waters.
While I savored the beauty of the place, I was also aware of its vulnerability. We all know that many of the mountains of Negros Occidental are barren due to decades of mindless logging and mining operations. Soil erosion and mine wastes have accumulated much on the sea coasts of the province especially in Sipalay. The islets of Tinagong Dagat have remained pristine. I dearly hope that we, especially the government, will see to it that this wonder of nature remains untouched by so-called progress.
Man and nature are connected said one learned farmer to me. Recent natural disasters have proven that to be true. I pray that, in the present rush to develop the Sipalay-Hinobaan area as a major tourist spot, the government and the developers will not only look at the locality with its beautiful beaches, coral reefs and vegetation as a means to gain profit but also as a vital support system that must be sustained so that the organisms that are thriving there at present may continue to exist.

Mt. Mandalagan – Untold Stories of Socials at Night
Tumblr media
Maybe it’s because of the altitude, or exhaustion after battling with limatiks that made that night at Mt. Mandalagan so tranquil and quiet. We were taking shelter under those thin tarp sheets talking calmly, sharing stories and experiences in between shots of tanduay chasered with water. That was the existential price of traveling from Cebu to Negros Occidental and climbing that leech-infested…

Tinagong Dagat -  We are on the track to discover this mysterious lake in the woods of Miag-ao. Danao sa Miag-ao known to the locals as Tinagong Dagat (hidden sea in literal English) is a hidden lake situated in the forested area of Barangay Ongyod elevated approximately 3,000 feet above sea level. Getting there will sweat you out for some hiking to see this mysterious lake which is said to be ten times bigger than an ordinary swimming pool.

Volunteering gives you an opportunity to change people's lives, including your own. It gives you the satisfaction of playing a role in someone else's life, helping people who may not be able to help themselves. Volunteering is a way of giving back to your community while developing important social skills, and gaining valuable work experience all at the same time. This picture was taken during my volunteer work for the first charity project of Iloilo Science and Technology University - Architect Society (Hamili Chapter)  and my first hike experience at Brgy. Ongyod, Miag-ao, Iloilo. The group’s activities includes, having a mobile bookshelf on  remote areas, feeding program, sketching and drawing session with kids and educating and orientation to locals.
Hiking is one of the fastest-growing outdoor activities in the world. Hiking is a great way to reap the benefits of what nature has to offer. After every activity we have, we have a chance to hike to the mountains. It was a tiring but vastly fun 5 hour uphill and downhill traverse to our target location. Reaching our destination where nature attractions are very pleasing in the eyes. Tinagong Dagat and the panorama of mountains are one of the best charms. Its a warm feeling joining this activity and  to witness how beautiful the landscape Mother Nature.

Pulang Tubig (NegrosOocidental)
The Pulang Tubig waterfall is located in the Northern Negros Natural Park, a protected area located in the northern mountainous forest region of the island of Negros in the Visayas. The Northern Negros Natural Park is located some 40 kilometres east-northeast of Bacolod, the largest city and capital of Negros Occidental.
The park is centered on Mount Mandalagan and Mount Silay with their old-growth forests at over 1,000 metres. Secondary forests are found in the lower slopes which are crossed by four major river systems namely, the Malogo, Imbang, Himoga-an and Bago rivers.
A number of endemic and threatened species have been documented in the park, which includes bird species such as the Visayan hornbill, Negros bleeding-heart, white-winged cuckooshrike, flame-templed babbler, white-throated jungle flycatcher, Visayan flowerpecker and green-faced parrotfinch. The park is also a habitat to other important fauna including the Visayan spotted deer, Visayan warty pig, Philippine naked-backed fruit bat, and the endangered Negros shrew.
The Pulang Tubig waterfall is about an hour’s trek from the small community Patag. Patag is about one hour drive from lovely Silay City. It is a scenic drive up to the highlands of Patag which is a major vegetable growing area. Views over the lowlands are spectacular. Patag has history as well. It was the last stand of the Japanese army in World War Two on Negros. The trek is spectacular. It takes you through beautiful mossy forest with towering trees, vines, climbers and palm trees. It is extremely lush. The trail is at times not easy and you will have to wade through the cool water of a stream quite a few times. Sandals with good grip are perfect for this trek. You have to just stop and enjoy the scenery. A dip in the cool stream is great to cool off. The falls are spectacular.
This great trek up to Pulang Tubig waterfall features in our Patag Explorer program.

Exploring The Mount Hamiguitan The Unesco World Heritage Site In Mindanao
Tumblr media
Mahigit sa 6,000 hectares na nature’s wonder constitute the distinctiveness of Mount Hamiguitan, isang napakahalagang hiyas na may picturesque province that has gained fame with its inscription in the highly-coveted UNESCO World Heritage Site noong 2014 at kamakalian lamang, bilang isang ASEAN Heritage Park.
Bilang bahagi ng prestihiyosong UNESCO Wolrd Heritage List, inaasahan na ang Mount Hamiguitan will not only attract more tourist but also scientists and researchers coming from both national and international communities.
Bago ito naging isang UNESCO World heritage Site, ang Mount Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary ay isang favoraite among mountain climbers and outdoor enthusiasts.
In the Philippines, out of the six UNESCO World Heritage Sites, isa lamang ang matatagpuan sa Mindanao. Iyon ang Mount Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary na natagpuan sa Davao Oriental, ang tanging site ng pamana ng bundok sa bansa. It is for this reason that the province deems it as its ‘Most Treasured Natural Jewel’. Tawag na sa aming mga Pilipino travel consultant para sa inyo bakasyon sa Pilipinas MABUHAY TRAVELS.
Maraming Salamat Po.

Sipalay was a long ride from Cebu City. I had to wake up around one at dawn to hop on the 2AM bus that travels to the southern tip of Cebu Island, and then catch the earliest ferry ride to Dumaguete. Despite leaving early, it was already 5PM when I reached Sipalay City proper. That included my 2-hour stopover at our humble abode in Siaton.
I actually celebrated my birthday on the road. Solitary and hungry. Because of the long trip, busy holiday traffic, and jam-packed terminals, I skipped some meals just to keep my travel arrangements and schedule.
A picturesque scenery in Sipalay
Verdant karst massifs dot the city edges forming a photogenic conglomeration of land masses. Surrounding these mounds are clear and calm aquamarine waters that are perfect for kayaking activities.
Sipalay is also a home to awesome ivory and white strips, such as Punta Ballo Beach, Campoquino Bay, and Sugar Beach. All these beaches are perfect spots to grace beautiful sunsets.
Striking a pose at the makeshift bamboo bridge in Tinagong Dagat
Furthermore, the beauty of Sipalay is not limited to what is readily visible at a normal vantage point. When you dive deep below its seas, wonderful underwater communities awaits to give you an awe.
Apo Island, return to Barangay Malatapay and then wait for a bus to either Bayawan or Dumaguete City.
From Cebu City, the easiest way is to take a bus to Liloan, Santander, embark on a ferry to Sibulan, and then hop on a multicab (jeepney) to Dumaguete.
By the way, there’s an island that sounds like Sipalay. You may also check Sipaway, also in Negros Occidental.
Easy Diving and Beach Resort. It is a 5- or 6-day diving experience to the famed dive spots in the Visayas, such as Apo, Sumilon, Pescador, Balicasag, Panglao, and Sunken Islands. Depending on the package you book, your accommodation will be at the nearest resort or on the deck of the DiveSafari boat.
However, you must be a certified diver to join the tour. If you need one, Easy Diving and Beach Resort has in-house dive center for your PADI training and certification needs. The resort has over 40 dive spots on its list including the ones in Sipalay.
2. Tinagong Dagat
Tinagong-dagat offers a stunning view of the island clusters at the south of Sipalay City proper. The green mounds rising from the turquoise deep creates a complementing charm to the waters around it.
Tinagong Dagat
Since the property is operated by private individuals, the resort standing on it collects ₱30 as entrance or viewing fee.
3. Campoquino Bay
Campoquino is a gorgeous strip that offers spacious space for beach bummers and good shade for campers.
Hi-jo Beach Resort, a budget resort in Sipalay, is the closest accommodation option.
4. Danjugan Island (Must-Do)
Danjugan Island is not located within the jurisdiction of Sipalay. However, the boat station to the island is just 20 minutes away from the city. So when you visit Sipalay, it would be perfect to include Danjugan in your itinerary.
Danjugan Island is actually a protected marine sanctuary which provides asylum to a veritable cornucopia of wildlife species. The island operates under the care and supervision of the Philippine Reef and Rain Forest Conservation Foundation, Inc. or PRRFCFI.
Moray Lagoon in Danjugan Island
Aside from the wildlife encounter, you can make the most of your visit by checking its five lagoons, four white beach strips, and a number of makeshift watch towers.
5. Punta Ballo Beach
Punta Ballo is one of the most amazing place to grace the sunset in Sipalay. The sand is ivory on a gloomy day but is white under a bright sunlight.
Punta Ballo beach in front of Easy Diving and Beach Resort
Not far from the beach are remarkable reefs which are homes to colourful marine life.
6. Sugar Beach
Sugar beach is another gorgeous strip in Sipalay and is a home to a number of resorts that host regular beach parties and other gimmicks.
7. Punta Ballo Parrot Farm
Punta Ballo Parrot Farm is located within the Easy Diving Resort complex. Meet and greet with their collections of parrots and hornbills. The farm is a licensed exotic birds breeder and conservationist. It serves as a satellite conservation site of Talarak Foundation.
Punta Ballo Parrot Farm’s love birds
8. Poblacion Beach and Sipalay Food Park
Poblacion Beach is the wide strip on the west edge of the city proper. It is the most accessible beach of the city.
Sipalay Food Park is one of the best spot to taste the local food. Seating adjacent to Poblacion beach, getting there is pretty easy.
Sipalay Food Park
Food stalls start grilling at sundown. Chicken inasal and barbecue are usual mainstays.
Live bands and karaoke are also available.
9. Perth Paradise Resort Infinity Pool
The overlooking scenery at the infinity pool of Perth Paradise Resort is undeniably one of the most picturesque spot in Sipalay.
If you are not a guest, you can access the infinity pool with a fee. Viewing will cost you ₱80/pax. If you can to take a dip to its famed pool, you have to shell an additional ₱100/pax.

10. Learn the Art of Archery with Archery-Asia
Learn the art of archery at Archery-Asia Sipalay. If it is your first time, you will be trained with the basics and practice your first arrow release at their target range.
Afterwards, you will be brought to the parkour course to test what you have learned. The parkour has 23 stops and each stops has inanimate targets for you to shoot.
Archery-Asia Sipalay target range
Easy Diving Beach Resort offers premium accommodations. It seats on a sloped terrain along Punta Ballo Beach. The resorts offers a stunning sunset view, a gorgeous beachfront, and a scenic neighborhood. Standard fan starts ₱1,600 for two while the standard airconditioned room starts at ₱1,950 for two.
Tinagong Dagat Island Resort seats on a cliff that is overlooking a charmed setting. An overnight stay at Tinagong Dagat for two individuals starts at ₱1,200.

Drift Wood Village, Takatuka Lodge, Big Bamboo Beach Resort, and Sulu Sunset Beach Resort along Sugar Beach; and
C View Haven, Hi-jo Beach Resort and Nataasan Beach Resort at the city’s south.
