In today’s flat shoe dedication – part of the capsule closet series – is the ultra luxurious Italian Shoe maker, Tods.

The shoe is named after the 133 rubber pebbles – “gommini” which are embedded into the sole of each loafer.  These pebbles guarantee incredible comfort and are one of the company’s best sellers.  In the early 1900’s when Diego Della Valle’s grandfather, Filippo founded a shall shoe factory.

When in the 70’s Diego enters the family shoe business he initiates a major turnaround strategy which sees the company gain international acclaim.  Diego was brilliant at marketing the product by giving shoes to Italian Celebrities and using images of Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant gave the illusion that the brand had been around for a long time.

Today, Tod’s SpA is the operating holding of a Group, amongst the leading players in the world of luxury goods, with the brand names Tod’s, Hogan, Fay and Roger Vivier.

The brands of the group, all with their own personal identity, are linked by the same philosophy, which distinguishes itself for a well-balanced mix of tradition and modernity, high quality, creativity and functionality.

The high standard of quality met by the products is guaranteed by the strong craftsmanship involved in every and each phase of the production: every product is hand made, crafted with techniques of the highest skilled hand craftsmanship. After various production steps and control phases the product is destined to become an exclusive and distinguishable object.

All products are crafted in the Groups’ owned factories, a total of 6 for shoes and 2 for leather goods, and in a limited number of specialised laboratories (with which the Group has bonded long term business relations). The buying of materials, the supervision of all the production phases and the control of the finished products, are centralised at the headquarters – this is done for all of the products as well as for the ones created in the external laboratories.

The pair that I am very lucky to have is the Todd’s Ballerina Dee Fibbietta which I adore.  They are remarkably comfortable and fit my wide feet superbly courtesy no doubt of the elasticated topline and signature pebbled sole.  Wearing these shoes definitely puts and extra spring in my step.  These round toe suede flats have a charming buckle which adds a dash of sparkle to them.

A style essential, wear yours with skinny jeans and a chiffon blouse to emulate minimalist cool.

Heres a cleaning tip:  Use Window polish to shine up the front – works like a charm and it restores the brilliant lustre and the will be glossy and shiny in no time.

 Just look the incredible detail in the packaging too – to me it says a lot about a brand when they do this.  For me it says that they appreciate great craftsmanship, pay attention to every single detail which in turn raises opulence of the brand too.

This luxury Italian brand also makes incredible handbags, wallets, belts and clothing.
