News of money previously given to House Speaker Mike Johnson's congressional campaign by Russian nationals has re-emerged after the Republican rejected a $95 billion foreign aid bill passed in the Senate.
In 2018, a group of Russians were able to donate to Johnson's bid for the Louisiana seat he eventually won as the money was funneled through the Texas-based American Ethane company.
While American Ethane was co-founded by American John Houghtaling, at the time it was 88% owned by three Russian nationals—Konstantin Nikolaev, Mikhail Yuriev, and Andrey Kunatbaev. Nikolaev is known to be a top ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
A spokesperson for Johnson previously assured in 2018 that the campaign returned the money that was given to them by American Ethane once it was "made aware of the situation." There was no indication that Johnson's campaign team willfully broke federal law, which makes it illegal for a campaign to knowingly accept donations from a foreign-owned corporation, a foreign national, or any company owned or controlled by foreign nationals.
A number of social media users have now brought up the campaign money amid Johnson's opposition to the long-debated foreign aid bill, which would send $60 billion to Ukraine as the country continues to fight off Russia's invasion.
In a press conference on February 14, Johnson said he would not bring the bill recently passed by the Senate back from a House vote and that the "Republican-led House will not be jammed or forced into passing" the foreign aid bill.
The same day, Ukraine-based blog Fake Off posted on X, formerly Twitter: "US Speaker of the House Mike Johnson received campaign contributions from American Ethane, a company 88% owned by three Russians. Now, do you understand why he was categorically against the aid to Ukraine?"
Another social media user added, while sharing a clip of Johnson's press conference: "Astonishing that the Speaker of the House for the United States Government accepts money from Russia. Konstantin Nikolaev, Mikhail Yuriev, and Andrey Kunatbaev own 88% of American Ethane."
Johnson's office has been contacted for comment via email.
WHO IS KONSTANTIN NIKOLAEV?
The 52-year-old is a billionaire who previously served as minister of transport for the Russian Federation.
Nikolaev and his two partners currently own a third of Globaltrans, Russia's biggest private rail transport operator, and he previously worked in railroad freight and port businesses.
He is also a part owner of Tula Cartridge Works, which has been supplying ammunition for Russian forces during its invasion of Ukraine.
In 2019, Forbes listed the oligarch's net worth at $1.2 billion.
Nikolaev is also known for being a financial backer of Maria Butina, a Russian citizen who was sentenced to 18 months in prison in 2019 after admitting to acting as an unregistered foreign agent to infiltrate conservative political groups and influence foreign policy to Russia's benefit before and after the 2016 election.
The money that Nikolaev and the other two Russian nationals managed to donate to Johnson's 2018 campaign was also brought up after the Republican was elected House Speaker last October.
"Putin pal Konstantin Nikolaev, who handled Russian spy Maria Butina, was also the principal stockholder in American Ethane Co. when they donated over $37,000 to Mike Johnson's election campaign. Does anyone else think that might be a problem?" posted X user @Davegreenidge57.

Nevzorov:
Why is the US stalling on helping Ukraine?
It's simple. Putin has no conscience and honor, but he has money. A lot of money.
Therefore, he is really able to influence processes in the world.
For example, House Speaker Michael Johnson, a Republican and an ardent Trumpist, who rejected the $95 billion relief bill passed in the Senate, got his “position” with the support of a group of russians who donated money to his company through a certain "Ethane".

At that time, "Ethane" was 88 percent owned by three russian citizens - Konstantin Nikolaev, Mikhail Yuryev and Andrey Kunatbaev. It is known that Nikolaev is the main ally of russian president putin.

The Berdan II bolt action rifle,
Col. Hiram Berdan is best known to history for the founding of a regiment of sharpshooters for the Union Army during the American Civil War. However, he was also an inventor, engineer, and arms designer who would invent an important Russian rifle overshadowed today by firearms such as the Mosin Nagant and AK-47.
Tumblr media
After the American Civil War Hiram Berdan began work on a number of firearm designs, including the Berdan primer and the Berdan I rifle. The Berdan I rifle was a simple breechloading trapdoor design similar in function to the Springfield Trapdoor rifle. However the rifle failed to garner much interest in the United States, both from the military and the civilian market. However, the Russian Army was interested in the design, purchasing 30,000 in 1868. This gave Hiram Berdan a foot in the door of Czarist Russia, where his famous Berdan II rifle would become his most lucrative design.
The Berdan II is a single shot bolt action rifle with a split bridge receiver, which was primarily used by the Russian Army from 1870 up to 1895. It was designed to be a competitor with two other common bolt action designs of the age, the French Chassepot and Prussian Dreyse needlefire rifles.  However, the Berdan II surpassed both designs in that it utilized a self contained metallic cartridge, the 10.75x58mm Berdan cartridge which also was Berdan primed. With Russia’s adoption of the Berdan II in 1870, Russia was one of the few countries in the world to use a metallic cartridge firearm as a standard infantry service rifle, let alone a metallic cartridge bolt action. The only other metallic cartridge bolt action infantry rifle I can recall that was a standard issue weapon at the time was the Swiss Vetterli.  Thus, the Berdan II gave Russia an edge in firearms technology, if only for a very short time. The Russians were also impressed by the rifle’s simplicity and rugedness, traits which Russians demand of their weapons to this day.
Around 3 million Berdan II rifles were manufactured. Initially they were produced by American firms such as Colt and Winchester, then British Small Arms. Eventually they were produced by the Tula and Ishvesk Arsenals in Russia. The Berdan II was featured in prominent use by the Russian Army in the Russo Turkish War of 1877. In 1891 the Russian Army adopted a bolt action repeating design called the Mosin Nagant, thus the Berdan II began to be phased out until it was completely withdrawn from frontline service in 1895. It remained in used as a reserve weapon during the Russo Japanese War and World War I, with many being converted to 7.62x54R Nagant. Around 30,000 were sold to the Ethiopian Army during the First Italo Ethiopian War in 1894. They were also used as a reserve weapon by the Bulgarians, Serbians, and Greeks in World War I, and by the Finnish up to the Winter War and World War II.

Free for All - Episode 8: Kilo Charlie (Part Two: Meanwhile...)
EPISODE EIGHT
KILO CHARLIE
EXTERIOR: ALLEYWAYS
RAJANI LONKAR inspects her M21 submachine gun. An “up close and personal” weapon that fires 30 rounds of 5.56x45mm rounds. From Aurangabad. Classified age, worth a punch if you annoy her too much on the subject. She followed her mother’s footsteps of serving the armed forces, especially in the officer’s side. Those closest to her, call her “RAVI”.Or ORACLE TWO.
In the background, we see the warrior, Shan. Taken away by the local authorities. A small crowd gathers, looking at this in awe. After small chat with the fuzz, she sees April walking back to her.
“APRIL”:
“No rest for the weary.”
We’re moving out, again.
“RAVI”:
To where?
“APRIL”:
You’ll see.
Come on, let’s go.
“RAVI”:
You think you’ll get to use your MK this time?
“APRIL”:
(In Japanese)
I certainly hope so.
JUNE 25/TULA 07, SOL SATURNI, 11:12:04 AM (MARS TIME)
FIRE SUPPORT BASE WORF, ARKHARO
SOMEWHERE IN THE ARCADIA QUADRANGLE (MC-03)
EXTERIOR: MACHINE GUN POSITION 7, CONSTRUCTED TRENCH LINE “DANIEL CRAIG” – DAY
Boxes of ammunition organized like crates of soda. We see “Deo”, and Anderson watching their part of the line, with an emplaced M63 machine gun. “Bastion” using the binoculars, looking out the line. “Zee” is behind them, rearranging the bullets. As he does this, he’s practicing his card trick. GRADY records all of this, again.
VIDEO RECORDING POV:
GRADY:
Anything to declare, Mister Anderson?
ANDERSON:
Nope, it’s all clear.
Just like the last few times it was.
GRADY:
Well, you know, it’s our line.
Best to be prepared.
As he annoys him further with his zoom-ins, STAFF SERGEANT “THE PRO” returns from his orders. “Joker”, Ralph, and Rumer are with him.
NEIL/“THE PRO”:
Hey, guys.
How’s the line, so far?
ANDERSON:
Boring as fuck.
RALPH:
Hey, at least you’re not digging shit.
“BASTION”:
But the line will hold, that’s for sure.
“JOKER” rests up beside the machine gun position. Rifle to the Zee’s side, and a bag of something just beside him.
“DEO”:
Had fun bird-watching?
RALPH:
What the flying fuck is “bird-watching”?
NEIL/“THE PRO”:
His sniper’s work.
(To “Joker”)
So, how was it?
“JOKER”:
Exhausting.
But, I did get something to keep it away.
He goes for his pack, opens it. The squad gather up. Out of his bag, is “circular, microchip-like mini drive device”.
“JOKER”:
A Sphere cartridge.
With “war music”.
NEIL/“THE PRO”:
Where’d you get it?
“JOKER”:
Martian shop, at a discount price too.
“DEO”:
Are you sure it’s not a “bad copy”?
“JOKER”:
Zee?
He gives it to “Zee”. Then, he inserts the Sphere cartridge in his Sphere, and presses play. The song blares in their emplacement. “Should I Stay Or Should I Go?” by The Clash.
“JOKER”:
So, what do you think?
Staff Sergeant RYMANN walks up to their position.
STAFF SERGEANT RYMANN:
Morning, Neil.
First squad.
They all salute him as the 4-2 Staff steps foot into their emplacement.
STAFF SERGEANT RYMANN:
(Continued)
You see that, over there?
He’s talking about the two “special” vehicles, parked by the Lieutenant Colonel O’Hara’s overwatch position. Black clad MX-1 utility vehicles. In full cover. You can tell that a few modifications have been made for mobility purposes.
NEIL/”THE PRO”:
Are those the spooks we were told about?
STAFF SERGEANT RYMANN:
Yep.
Wade’s trying to get himself noticed.
It’s hilarious.
NEIL/”THE PRO”:
Hoping it could be a tryout?
STAFF SERGEANT RYMANN:
You know him.
He's seen too much action movies.
Especially the Norris ones.

Developed in World War II in the Soviet Union, the PPSh-41 was a submachine gun developed by Georgy Shpagin. It was a simplification of the expensive-to-make PPD-40 made by Vasily Degtyaryov, made for the purpose of easier wartime manufacture. Effective at short ranges, it outclassed most other firearms until the STG-44 came into being. However, this was clear because of the fact the STG-44 was an assault rifle, compared to the PPSh being an SMG.
Fast forward several decades, to 2013, and the Bouzac are at war with the Brotherhood. The Morriellians began to go through a process of arming themselves for war, as the Bouzac came calling for men. With the need for weapons that were easy to manufacture, they took the PPSh, and made some major changes to the design to be able to use the same 7.62x39mm round the Bouzac used in their assault rifles. In 2014, the PPSh-2014 was put into service.
To be able to use the 7.62x39mm round, the Arms Plant responsible for making Morriellian weaponry made some changes to the PPSh. They changed it from an open bolt, blowback operated design to one that uses a gas operated, rotating bolt system that works through a direct impingement system similar to that used by the M-16 assault rifle. Despite these changes, it is still very simple to operate, take apart, and clean.
However, the design wasn’t without flaws, some of which carried over from the original. The main one was the drum magazines. While they have a max capacity of 80 rounds, the absolute limit of rounds in the magazine before problems were encountered was 75 rounds. This was due to the spring within the drum becoming strained. For this reason, the 35 round magazines were also developed, to improve reliable feeding of ammunition into the gun.
It proved very well regarded by the Morriellian armed forces, and soon by the BEA when Scorpio Armoury began to make them as well. With their fast fire rate, they proved good at short range, though they can easily reach out past that with good accuracy. Brotherhood soldiers learned to fear the weapon soon after it was introduced. When it was taken out of service, it was quickly replaced by the hybrid rifle form, the PPSh-2037.
